It was a tragic accident of nature that some explorers brought a cold with them that the American Indians had no immune system for. A decade later when colonial settlers arrived they believed the land was given to them by god because they found abandoned villages and ready farmland waiting for them. No one knew how disease worked. They were still theorizing about imbalanced humors or divine punishment. The game was rigged against them from the start. If not for that they probably could have defeated us.
American Indians only exist today because of their ethnocentrism and cultural pride. They have spent 500 years refusing to integrate with us. We often name our weapons and military vehicles after them as a gesture of respect to honor their legacy and do so with the approval of their community leaders. Our cultural relationship with them doesnt really seem like the standard you see around the world for other ethnic conflicts and conquered peoples.
P.S. I believe I have been reliably informed by my American Indian friends that I should never enter their territory alone because they openly brag amongst themselves about murdering White men.
