An open source device (hardware) with degoogled os is the dream. Who needs sims now anyways. It's just for 2fa no one actually calls anyone anymore. It's big tech that's keeping us anchored to the requirement of having a SIM card.
I wouldn't mind just accessing the internet at Wi-Fi spots as I move around.

Yeah, I know it's a small point, but I like having applications on my desktop instead of loading a tab on my browser. Snap is probably the easiest and cleanest way to do it since it won't integrate with the system. Flat pack is another option as well, whatever.

There is definitely a growing trend among countries to disregard the rule of law and established processes.
This is very dangerous because laws are the only thing that restrain governments from overreaching their perceived power.
Citizens will need to push back any way they can and won't be able to rely on laws or courts anymore.

So I'm obviously using Noster, but now more dedicated than ever to run my own relay. It's actually much worse, and most countries, including the US, are looking at age verification for digital services. It's definitely not going away, and I don't think any amount of voting can change this.

Just my observation on El Salvador and the IMF.
I'm currently in process of building the home in El Salvador. Though many will say that the IMF loan and the removal of Chivo and the revisions to the Bitcoin law have done very little to stop Bitcoin adoption there, I can state from firsthand experience that ever since Chivo stopped operating, it's been much more difficult for me to purchase and do business in El Salvador with bitcoin.
Chivo was a resounding success that just wasn't given enough time. I could literally go to anybody, a carpenter, a contractor, the windows guy and ask him if I could send him Bitcoin and they would all say yes because they had access to Chivo.
Yes, there are other apps like Blink, but the fees are astounding when individuals have to withdraw cash at a local bank. One local app that my contractor uses, for example, charges 1% to convert to USD and then there's a 1 to 2% fee when withdrawing at the local bank.
I'm building a house, so I regularly send them, say, $5,000, which translates to quite a bit of fees.
Just wanted to state firsthand how I think the IMF did in fact Dramatically slow down mainstream Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador.
Still a great country.

Oh, one more thing. I have spent numerous hours watching flat earth videos. In fact, I was so engrossed in trying to understand the reasoning and the logic that I've taken probably an entire year looking at very little else on YouTube.
Essentially, I see the entire movement as a new type of Luddite Push back against a scientific world that's become overly complicated and too difficult to understand.
The arguments for flat earth are usually simplistic, observable arguments that bend logic a certain way that most people won't be able to detect it.
Look, I don't deny that the moon landings can be fake. It doesn't mean that everything we've learnt about the shape of the earth is also fake. I highly doubt that NASA was controlling the world back in ancient Greek times.
I'll get off my soapbox since I've had this discussion many, many, many, many, many times without any kind of impact whatsoever.
