sure, it is enough just to not repeat it for shor time - if all other repeaters do the same, the "wave" of the message will not came back one minute later.
If I count 1second per hop (which is really a lot - it is more like <100ms) it would need to keep the history for 64s.
Also no need to keep the whole message - just hash of the message is enough (but idk if it works like that)

How does MeshCore prevent route loops?
Through a combination of hop limiting and message deduplication. Each node remembers recent message IDs and does not forward duplicates, even if they arrive via a different route.

#meshtastic has so much overhead.
#meshcore protocol is cleaner. I was DMing with someone 14hops away and it worked... and I could follow the tracepath of the message.
