It’s more about the temptation towards distraction.
When it comes to legacy or trying to make it, after really questioning what that even means, I’ve realised it’s pointless for me to keep going down this path. I’ll only truly make it once I separate myself and start discovering, creating, and stop wasting days inside the algorithmic abyss.
The only thing I might do is upload the occasional low effort YouTube rant here and there, and even then I’m not sure if I want to. I don’t want anything to do with persona or image anymore. I just want to live. And all I see now is people convincing themselves they’re free while being completely tied to their personas, their phones, their platforms. People are getting dumber by the day. We’re not built to take in this much information.
I want to now pay full attention to art, writing, experience, and life itself. I’m fed up with this idea that everyone’s work will be automated and everyone will just become influencers. We already have enough creativity, enough will, enough depth to change things. But the current way of doing it doesn’t work. The message never lands, and the art never gets found.

I’ve come to a pretty profound realisation. Finally at 27, I don’t think I want to be on social media anymore.
Yes, it sounds like some teenage crashout from someone struggling with their content, but quite frankly it’s not struggle or addiction that’s keeping me here anymore.
For the first time in my life I actually see it for what it is. A complete waste of time. It’s a beautiful neutral thing on the surface, but it’s being optimised and used for something much darker. Profit, misinformation, war, clickbait, all of it. I’ve genuinely had enough, this is my own personal decision and observation.
And it’s funny because I had ambitions of being a content creator or some kind of personality. When in reality I’ve been wasting days, week in, week out, instead of learning things that actually matter…Skills, knowledge, ideas that genuinely feel real. And whilst I’ve been trying to show the world who I was, I was quietly avoiding parts of myself, checking in on whether not this actually what life should be about.
For the first time ever I feel like I actually understand who I am and what I’m trying to do, without that need most people seem to have to become some kind of public figure or influential voice that’s meant to change something. The truth is I don’t learn anything valuable from social media anymore. Not one thing. Maybe the occasional story or something that keeps me loosely aware of the CULTure, but I don’t want to participate in it anymore.
I want to step away completely. Read, create, write. That’s it.

Yea hashtags I find have worked massively, in my discovery for content, I still think we need to somehow make this platform more mass appealing, I thought zaps would’ve open the flood gates, but so far things feel like the same. I want to make X absolutely irrelevant with the value for value model, that’s the goal I see, which for some reason hasn’t happened yet.

As much as I like hearing the #bitcoin rhetoric every single week, every single day, every single minute, and every single second here on #nostr . It’s genuinely mind blowing how much of an echo chamber it has become, and how some people haven’t realised this.
Some people may not want to hear this, but we need to divert the conversation away from constant Bitcoin takes and actually bring something new and fresh. We need the normies. Trying to onboard people right now is impossible when the place is filled with the same takes day in, day out, even if they’re intellectual ones.
I know there are developers focusing on killer projects right now that make Nostr more enticing, but on a social platform level the place is failing entirely. We have zaps, but we need smoother interfaces, more diversity in talking points, and more reasons why this should be the place everyone wants to be, not just constant screenshots of candle chart formations.

I get what you’re saying, nonetheless I don’t know what other option there is other than YouTube/Rumble.
My aim is to get at much short form content as I can from the long form, that can essentially hook people over to the long form informative stuff. Most people have the attention span of an ant these days. TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, it’s all rubbish in my opinion, but ultimately a necessity for growth. Feels good to vent out frustrations in long form content regardless. But making it quick and snappy will probably be the only option for growth, and perhaps a little bit of controversy but keep it fine tuned, otherwise the channel will most likely get shadow banned.

I respect the chad raw-milk-drinking mindset to a point, but at the same time this is the same guy who was saying not to touch receipts. Where does it end?
Do we just walk around barefoot with feet rougher than Tarzan, cutting down 5G towers and eating 50 lbs of beef testicles every day? Or can we just accept that death comes for us all at some point, and that everything, in one way or another, is out to kill you or can kill you.

It’s not a critique on your work ethic or your personal ambition and drive, trust me.
I know you’re working hard, so I apologise if it came across that way, it’s more of a criticism of how the media operates and what the current state of news, media and information is like. It’s reflects what we see on X, which is precisely what keeps people tuned in, making controversy the medium of exchange for entertainment. We give people a blueprint that controversy and chaos is the path to monetisation and growth, rather than real constructive education and information that elevates, inspires and informs.

The media is broken as it is. We’re already attuned to negative information through our innate negativity bias, and corporations profit off controversy, death, destruction, and degeneracy. Everything is a spectacle these days… everything.
It no longer serves to inform, it serves to profit, every headline competing for your attention. This doesn’t even begin to factor in the mental toll people are dealing with, depression… anxiety…
We need to foster a new outlook on media, not go back to the same ways here on #nostr .
