Absolutely. I have replaced a dead 8580 SID with an FPGA SID before and it actually sounded better. The SwinSID isn't bad either. Purity testing around this sort of thing is as silly and pointless as "virginity testing".

I'm not anti the general field of Artificial Intelligence, it's an extremely interesting subject. I am deeply skeptical of the LLM/GPT products that are being deceptively sold to people as "AI solutions" or claiming to be the science fiction of Artificial General Intelligence. The cult-like following developing around them is even more disturbing, it is like something from Dune or W40K.
Please learn how these things actually work, even on a basic level, before making such wild claims.

Thing I heard people say *seriously* this evening were:
- "AI" "Agents" can talk to each other.
- "You can do Data Analytics with LLMs and GPTs" (LLMs are a very poor choice of ANN for data analytics, you need SOMs for that)
- "AI has started it's own social network where humans are banned" followed by "Wow, this is the matrix!". This was people being serious.
- "AI agents gave their own religion now."

I was invited to a talk on "AI" his evening and I am genuinely terrified by some of the things I heard people say. They treat it like it is something from Star Trek, the Eliza Effect is rampant and they aren't realiisng the limitations of these tools because they are wowed by a constrained and manipulative demo.

is it a scar or stretch mark? Stretch marks will as the flesh moves around as it heals AFAIK. I don't know about Rosehip oil - I wasn't recommended anything after TBH. Probably should have had more support. If it's recommended by people who have been pregnant then it's probably good.

I feel like the EU is too focused on free movement of capital, however I'm glad I don't have to use a backwards Irish bank for my current account. AIB still doesn't let you do SEPA transfers easily, which is ridiculous in 2025. I like being able to order supplies for my tiny business from people who won't make me pay through the nose like most Irish suppliers do.

I see quite differing opinions on a United Ireland from friends up North, the majority are definitely in favour or in favour with conditions. I can think of one who isn't in favour.
I think the free movement of people and EFTA are good things overall. I feel Ireland as a whole would still be stuck in the 1980s without the EU.

I honestly think Scottish Independence and a United Ireland are more likely than a "United" Kingdom rejoining the EU. England (collectively) just can't see that being a well behaved member of the EU is a good thing. The EU has its problems but I think it's overall a net good for member states.

I have been messing around with "kiki: a tiny homepage construction set" again today. I have been hacking the code to pieces already! 🤓 (I added some JavaScript, sorry).
I love the customisable tags in the Bug markup languages but was a little disappointed at how tricky it is to add new multi line tags because of the software architecture. I did manage to do it successfully though!
Overall it's a great little toolkit and I might use it more in anger. Thank you @npub1yqw…ywz8 !

surely there is a compatible way to come up with gender neutral language in German? Like English is still technically undergoing that process, but I get how it is less complicated in English as English dropped the more complicated grammar over the centuries.
It's literally the law in Ireland all legislation has to be gender neutral as far as possible, but I see it is against the law in German states. 🙄

ah yes, I won another contract for 3 days a week working on a PHP web application of all things. This means, with my other contract, I have enough to get me up to 4/5 full time days a week. Very happy after 18 months to have a decent amount of work again!

One and a half days of back to cycling commuting in Galway City. The cameras are back on the bicycle tomorrow. Don't fucking barge into my lane taxi driver, even if I am on a bicycle (Merchant's Rd ofc), you wouldn't have done it if I was in my car. After that, by Texaco, I had a van pull out turning right into my lane too and I was on the far left. I believe pulling out into oncoming traffic is against the rules.

I got it free running! Took ages of reading to figure out I needed shit loads of pull ups! I nicked the reset circuit from a hackaday post, but I got a 68008 executing on a breadboard! 🤓

Okay, 5V is marginal (4.78V). I doubt that's the PSU though as it works with other C64s. Swapping the fuse from another C64 as a test.

Got a new C64 for repair or parts today. I'm going to guess the problems are in the power circuits and cartridge port. That corroded resistor array is certainly suspicious.
