I don't see it in my profile page, but that might be because my NIP-05 is anchored at iris.to? Anyway, when I went back in to check it my XMR addy is indeed in there, and I also added my CashApp handle too - my Lightning address and those other two are in there, but I can't actually see the other two in my public profiles on either platform.

I'm trying to figure out a couple of the best ways to purchase Sats to keep in a couple of my wallets. I see only "Green Satoshi Tokens" at Kraken, although I read that they support withdrawing Sats to wallets but I don't see that anywhere once logged in.
While at Rizful I can't find anyway to purchase one of the so-called "gift cards". it's like a feature no longer supported even though I can see them right there.
At Trocador it looks like Green Satoshi's are what, on the Solana chain with "Satoshi Island" being ETH or Binance? Huh? There's also "SATS" - Ordinal, (what the fuck?).
I normally don't have to mess with all this convoluted stuff, I can buy XLM all day long and regularly receive it as payment for services. Same with Monero, and I can convert between the two if need be when I have to buy something, never having a need to convert to any fiat or stable coin crap.
I just wanna buy 10 or 15 thousand Sats - that's like, $6 - $10. It should be fricken' easy!
Any suggestions?

I couldn't resist laughing at this one.
Back in the day studying French, I took a summer class at a local junior college to stay fresh, and had an interesting prof. He pointed out a few things I wasn't getting from the university (UCSD) I was attending during the year.
Native English speaking people don't understand some of these difficulties but he presented us with similar issues in French to illustrate. But in English, the one I recall the most:
"Is it, a 'bombed outhouse', or a 'bombed out house'" - and I guess since he was French he saw this as really challenging.
In french, what helped me was this sentence in English: "I would like an egg at eight." Easy peasy, but what helped me immeasurably in 'speaking' French, was understanding that a French speaking person would break up the vowels and consonants much differently for a flow decidedly french, yielding:
"Iwou - dli - ka - ne - ga - teight.
Definitely a stark difference in the cadance.
Anyway, I needed to test zapping someone too.

EXIF metadata in images can reveal boatloads ⛵ of information about each photograph you take. Geolocation, time & date, even the lense and f-stop, model of camera, etc.
Often, people wish to modify, alter, or completely remove such information - you would certainly be wise not to include most, if not all of that data when posting to public forums on the Internet, especially considering that Lat/Lon coordinates might be part of that metadata, which is a great way to self-dox yourself.
I'm going to cover only the straightforward acquiring of two bits of software (which will include much more) so you can venture into the crevices where EXIF data you didn't even know existed resides. For that, we use ExifTool by Phil Harvey; the latest version having been released 3 weeks ago.
Next, we're going to install a GUI front-end that exploits just about everything you can do with ExifTool - which itself is a CLI application. That GUI front-end is jexiftool, and when we're finished, you're going to have many Perl modules and a JRE installed on your system.
For the sake of simplicity, I usually write up these cookbook style tutorials using either the latest Debian Testing or Slackware -current distro - both are for intents and purposes a rolling distro that is a moving target on the bleeding edge of the Linux world.
This time, we'll be using Debian 14 (Forky) running KDE Plasma. The total time to install all of this is about 5 minutes.
I write in Markdown, I don't know exactly how that's going to render here on Nostr, but regardless, it's easy to read and you can post it into any markdown editor to make it pretty. i.e., Ghostwriter or Apostrophe.
So without further ado, let's get started!

Yes, it took me a while and I ended up following your suggestion and picked up a @nprofile…se56 Lightning address.
There was a spot there in the tutorial where it asked for my regular npub and after reflecting upon that and trying to research it I came to the conclusion that doing so would have been setting up (another?) NIP-05 address for myself, and as written in my post from last night I'm quite happy with my [email protected] address, until such time I decide to begin the migration of self-hosting and incorporating self-certification for my NIP-05 verifiction.
When I checked today I saw that you had 'zapped' me 21 Satoshi's. It's always a thrill the first time that occurs. Thank you for taking the time and above all else, your compendium of comprehensive tutorials that have been of great assistance in answering questions.
One thing though, you suggest to join your Discord chan, and for me, that's a no-go zone. I really didn't care for using that proprietary solution in the first place, and I would be remiss in my mission of advocacy for FOSS and Privacy if I did not at least mention https://Stoat.Chat (Formerly Revolt.Chat) to you.
Anyway, I'm not even sure if I can get into my old Discord account anyway, I think I went as far as enabling 2FA (probably TOTP w/Ente Auth) back when, but as I understand it, they now want some sort of abridged version of the KYC model just so they can filter out teenagers (and commit privacy mining offenses) on average schmoe's like me.
So that's why I wanted to ask which other chat/forum based support channels you currently support. i.e., XMPP or Matrix, Telegram, or even SimpleX? It would be nice were I able to participate in a community and even have opportunities to give something back to n00bs here & there.

I guess I check back later. I like my iris.to NIP-05 so I'm glad I didn't go for the last optional step of pasting my pubkey. Wondering though, would that have created two NIP-05 addressess? Hm.... wondering about the ramifications of that.
Regardless, I'm only interested in keeping [email protected] for my NIP-05 until such time as I decide to self-host everything on my own domains.

I just left Cindy Cohn's Presentation and book release party via remote stream.
Cindy is the Executive director of the EFF, and came to prominence regarding the Bernstein case against the prohibition of "strong encryption" a few years back during the Clinton administration.
Today, the industrial surveillance special interests are being aided again by socialist governments in the form of California_Digital_Age_Assurance_Act (AB 1043), and I was fortunate enough to have her directly address my question about just what we're going to do to defeat this and other criminal lawfare against our identity and privacy.
My question was the first question asked (and answered, sort of), and long before the Q&A that is supposed to wrap up the presentation, but I must say that I was a bit disappointed in that she really had nothing to offer other than to say **we need to fight this**.
Yes, of course we do. From my point of view, as part of my terms of service for a few years now, I've done what #Midnight_BSD has done by prohibiting Californians from using their OS by changes to the licensing - perhaps this is the way to go for all of us? Letting California (and Colorado) descend into the socialist abyss of third world dystopian decay; unable to compete and compute in a world that has left them behind and turned its back on them.
It's certainly worked out well for me. Due to the #GDPR and #CCPA I prohibit all residents of the #EU and #California, respectively, from using any online services that I provide or host - even though all of my services are actually GDPR and CCPA compliant.
I'll post a follow up here once I get the URL for the on-demand recording of Cindy (and Corey Doctorow), so that you can follow along and hear what they're prepared to do about AB 1043 (and similar legislation in Colorado)... unfortunately, she didn't actually impress me with any sort of game plan to protect the FOSS community from this latest implementation of dystopian socialist surveillance.
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas on just how we combat and effectively nullify laws like AB 1043.

In recent days, weeks, months, the fallout hasn't even begun - Microsoft is still weathering the blast itself. Even in the last couple of days viral videos are racking up millions of views covering what many people are hailing as the demise of Microsoft itself - to be certain, no one is shedding any tears.
The first two defectors? HP and Samsung (PCs and Androids). Samsung removed preinstalled Microsoft apps from their devices and now other Android manufacturers are following suit.
When you go to purchase an HP laptop now it comes with Linux by default (or you can, upon request, pay more for a Microsoft operating system). Following suit were Dell (same thing, Linux by default or your can request Windows 11 and pay more money for it), then Lenovo, ASUS, and Acer - pretty much everyone that matters has abandoned Microsoft.
Even the retailers are bugging out - Best Buy, Walmart, and even Amazon are jumping ship, and I don't even need to explain why, but again, you can pay more to be subjected to invasive privacy mining. CoPilot and Recall may be the straws that broke the behemoth's back.
And the shockwaves of ever larger concentric circles have found their way to **[Gentoo, the latest prominent project to begin the migration to CodeBerg](https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/gentoo-charts-new-path-moving-away-github-toward-codeberg)** according to Linux Journal.
Adherence to the values of privacy and open source are cited, and **[Codeberg](https://codeberg.org)** champions those values, themselves having moved to a hosted git software project that values those principles - **[Forgejo](https://forgejo.org)**.
There's a huge paradigmatic shift occurring with respect to how people view their privacy, and especially their identities and intellectual property. They've had enough of the dismissive subjugation and are realizing they can do much better, faster, with more privacy, and without tracking or malware pre-installed in their systems, for much less money.
It will be interesting to see how the Redmond Dreadnought manages to maneuver this time; have they even the use of their rudder to persuade all of the major manufacturers of Android devices, desktop and laptop PCs to come back from the pasture into the slaughterhouse?

Fediverse to them means masto, but nevertheless, they'll prolly try to impose their silly rules upon a network of people and services that will just thumb it's nose back at them when they try more of their authoritative, censorial garbage. We're not going to pay them no nevermind or even bother to answer the door if/when they come knocking.
If the EU wants to play in the #Fediverse sandbox, they need to mind their manners and remember that right to pass is revocable by the owners (each and every person and server admin) of the Fediverse - if they do their typical uppity authoritarian crap they'll find out real fast what it means to be told to get fucked, with no recourse to do anything about it.
And that's a good thing!

Oh this may be coming way too late to do you any good, please accept my apologies for not getting back sooner.
There's a lot of inexpensive VPS providers out there, and although I myself feel confident in using many of them, all I can really tell you is do your research with them (intense research), and you can use https://lowendbox.com to assist in that endeavor.
Now, If I'm to name any, it's certainly not going to be DigitalOcean, although you are going to find a quality product/service there.... and it will break the bank. The same goes with most of the others you'll hear of. The same goes for Vultr and most of the other common brands you've probably heard of.
Here's the name I'm going to drop for you - https://Hetzner.de - They're not the cheapest, but it won't break the bank and what you will get is 20TB of traffic per month - that's almost unheard of, and let's say all you need is a litle 5 or 10 dollar box to act as your Wireguard server - that should make even the biggest binge watcher on Netflix happy.
There's one other that I'll mention here, they used to be among the cheapest and offered a lot of OpenVZ machines, suitable for some things, but I don't think they do nowadays. Francisco is the owner of the company and is very proactive and responsive, has a good following and they used to be based almost exclusively in Fremont California in I think Hurricane Electric's facilities but I know since then he's branched out. Good service, communication, and reliability: https://buyvm.net - right now you can get 1GB RAM w/20GB of storage on KVM for $3.50/month. You can also get block storage (suitable for say, your OpenMediaVault server's iSCSI SAN) with 256GB of storage for $1.50/month
I have no hesitation vouching for either one of those providers.

* I usually work with XLM, ZEC, and XMR. I only trust non-custodial wallet solutions (I use CEX's, **do not trust regulated **CEX's like binance, coinbase, etc.).
* I'm using nos2x and looking at *Alby*, but I'm looking for a non-custodial wallet solution for Lightning - basically, I do not "trade", I use the cryptocurrencies listed above for day to day retail and wholesale commerce solutions where I sell or buy goods and services - I think **Zaps (SATs) sounds kewl for paywalling articles I publish (and just about everything including candy bars and beer), or anything that includes personal and business transactions for everyday commerce... Just like reaching into my pocket to buy a can of Bang liquid crack containing 300mg caffeine.
Again, satoshiwallet is a custodial wallet and I'm looking for non-custodial wallets - Do they exist and which ones do you recommend for Lightning? Currently I run a couple of non-custodial full chain wallets for Monero (XMR) and Shielded ZEC, and my fav for many years is XLM; so I'm no stranger to cryptocurrency as ***cash money**. I do not *trade* or *speculate* on crypto either.
* Solution: I want to set up a non-custodial lightning wallet solution for myself under one of my domains, use that same domain for my NIP-05 verification (puts me in the nostr directory, right?) and then set up my DNS and Nginx/Apache servers to accommodate those virtualhosts and be done with it so I have my easy to share nostr and Lightning aliases (i.e., [email protected]).
I can use some fav DEX's that I like to swap assets between other cryptocurrencies that I currently use and BTC/SATs/Zaps/whatev without touching any regulated CEX's in the world of *fractional reserve, regulated KYC bullshit*, and be free of the dystopian hand in my pocket bitches.
* Finally it appears that I'm already verified, to some degree - I have a blue checkmark [here at Iris](https://iris.to/tallship), can find myself via [Satellite.Earth too here](https://satellite.earth/@[email protected]), etc., but I'm not convinced that I'm actually NIP-05 registered/verified.

Here's something you might be interested in. Most of us believe that moderation is the sole domain and responsibility of the individual participant themselves, as it has utlimately ALWAYS been.
This gives you a leg up where you can use filtering profiles of other people to bootsrap your own - or not, and do your own from scratch :)

I should prolly take another look at Bitcoin, coz it just never seemed viable as a currency since mine were given to me via DALnet years ago, and after playing for a bit (no pun intended) tucked them all away on a paper key when they were worth less than 40 cents each.
I've admired and love using one of the oldest cryptocurrencies out there for the longest time - XLM. It's fast as lightning (in my experience, settles in about 3.5 seconds), and is affordable for everyday transactions of virtually ANY size - at an average over the years of 12 cents each, every XLM transaction costs exactly 0.00002 XLM. That's an awful lot of transactions before you reach a penny.
And it's also the international standard (still, if I'm not mistaken), being the official crypto used by MoneyGram worldwide.
To be fair, I haven't looked at the whole Lightning thing, so BTC to me is something that takes at the very least, hours to settle, and can cost $15 or $20 bucks to buy a $1.00 Can of Coca Cola.
Maybe part of my problem is that when I dismiss something, I don't often take the time to go back and look again for a VERY long time - so if enough has happened in the past 10 (or even 5) years to dispell the notions I have about how unwieldy Bitcoin is, I'm all ears and interested in following any rabbit holes that support that.
In the meantime, it's just been too much bother pricewise (transactions) and time-wise (settlement), and if I want to put up with that kind of inconvenience, I can opt instead for a privacy conscious currency such as Shielded ZEC or XMR.
I realize that there may be advantages market-wise, but I don't use anything but non-custodial means of managing my currencies, have no reason to cash out via a CEX, and prefer instead to buy and sell goods, services, in crypto when I can - I do use DEXes, however, when I need to exchange from one currency to another - it may be a tad more costly, but I never touch anything regulated by insisting that there be no comingling of regulated verses non-regulated assets.

Okay I let it wait a really long time and it finally showed the attachment via nostr .build (much better than a cheesy imgur link that Amethyst uses and doesn't render as an actual image on a #Fediverse server when posted via internetwork bridge).
I prefer the way that iris looks and feels, but do you think we might could get a progress meter of some sort for attachment uploads? 🙂

I've got one word for you #[1] , "Wireguard".
A well placed #VPS in #Romania, #Seychelles, #Finland, or other non "14 Eyes" Jurisdictions will go a long way towards the preservation of #Privacy and thwarting #dystopian #censorship systems and policies enacted by draconian bodies like, for example, #OfCom in the UK, where they actually out people in prison for thinking out loud - and other countries where the citizenry are already subjugated vassals.
And you can also move a #Wireguard server in literally moments, at anytime by a quick update of the A and AAAA RRs in your zone file.
