This thing is still kind of a mess but I'm having a great time working on it. 😍
Cleaned up the base building generator today and found and fixed a problem with the way building data was passing along data for rooftops.
Some buildings get rounded now, some buildings get a glowing rooftop, and there is a basic street traffic effect.

I did give it a few more minutes, but it never recovered. I actually think it would have if I had just left it for an hour or two.
The thought of leaving it in that state and then accidentally doing something that triggered it to re-evaluate was making my skin crawl a bit though. 😅

I was fiddling around in Geometry Nodes and things started getting *really* slow... like 5 min from updating a node to seeing Blender refresh. Just too much geometry for it to crunch quickly.
I meant to disable a node that would speed things up by skipping a mesh subdivision, but accidentally made it apply to *all* the geometry instead of half... and now I've been sitting here for 15 min wondering if Blender is ever going to resurface. 😵

Iterating on this some more! Added a (populated) moon to the sky, fixed the UVs on the building screens and added some videos, and changed the base mesh of the city to be less uniform.

I've been buying and playing digital games and other media for decades now... so seeing console makers go discless is not going to affect me much.
It does get me thinking about the loss of accumulated wealth, though.
Obviously, games and media are just a small part of the valuable things we collect over our lives.
But all that stuff just... goes away when you're gone. It's really wild to think about how a whole generation isn't going to pass on that kind of stuff to their kids when they die.

I'm a little surprised at how many people think of Starfox 64 as a remake of the original SNES game. The thought had never crossed my mind until this newest remake of the N64 version came to light.
Like, sure, it follows a similar formula. But it seems different enough to me to be considered it's own thing.
To me, it's a remake of the original in about the same way Super Mario Bros. 3 is a remake of the original Super Mario Bros.

Here's a workbench render of the video I'm working on!
Like the first version I made of this sequence, the final video loops, but this time I used a portal material shader to achieve that, so the end just has a flat plane in workbench. 😅

Spent a few hours rendering out my MST3K hallway video, but discovered a weird bug in about 150 of the frames...
For some reason, using Geometry Nodes to dynamically swap out instances of a light fixture was causing nearby static lights to go overbright on some of the frames.
So, I ended up recreating the effect in a material shader and now everything's fine. Re-rendering! 😅
