there is nothing ironic about pointing out that until the CO2 (and methane) concentrations drop the heating will increase. It is the simple physics of it. We could have taken more action in 2006 when An Inconvenient Truth came out; we didn’t and this two decades of war in gincluding this and following summers, are the simple direct result. Until we stop intensifying the cause, the effect will intensify.

I have quit smoking a few times. So not much to add here. It took me a bit of luck as well as actually not wanting to smoke, but also needed moment by moment not smoking without making it dependent on being a good person in some difficult sense. It also helped me to be nagged by people I trust to stop. 100% something I could not just decide to change and be changed.

people change continuously - most times when people try to intentionally change they fail. Especially for something like "become better people" rather than try to walk a bit more or eat less sugar or change how you dress; I think this is because accepting the reality of who you really are and working with that (rather than force yourself into some idealized other) works to make life's potential more accessible, moment by moment.

ironically your dis-recommendation for Arch derivatives and your recommendation for Ubuntu shows how solid the Debian distro is. You just don't have to fix it at a low level like you do Gentoo or Arch even after years.
