In the very beginning, Facebook had one interesting feature: reconnecting with old pals. I remember finding people I hadn’t heard about for ages, probably because they built their database around academic networks. It is a direct response to the core economic dilemma.. addressing human unlimited needs with finite resources. My epiphany struck while I was at the London Science Museum, contemplating the Moniac. I was fascinated by what a brilliant way it was to visualize the flow of money in an economy. This led me to wonder: is the flow a closed loop, sort of “Circular Economy?” If so, the water, representing money, is finite much like Bitcoin.

I confess that I still think about going to a hackspace and trying to craft a sort of Moniac B, but my carpentry skills are terrible. Then I ended up just vibe coding a Moniac in JS…

I still think we don’t have a proper language for AI. Computers are deterministic, while LLMs are probabilistic models. Traditional programming languages are designed to avoid ambiguity, but LLMs try to mimic natural language, which adds another layer of ambiguity.

What I’ve noticed, though, is that people using vibe coding focus more on the final artifact, almost like product managers and that’s actually a good thing, especially for prototyping.

Indeed, “awakening” is a rich storytelling topic. The Matrix (1999) sounds like it follows the Hero’s Journey template popularized by Joseph Campbell. I think this topic will continue to produce decent popular scripts as we live in a time of social media being heavily manipulated, and it is difficult to tell what is real and what is fake. In the Bitcoin case, at least we knew how to tell if a digital event occurred, got a Bitcoin network timestamp, and it could not be easily altered. I guess in finance, this is the closest we can get to reality.

However, they can still serve as a useful testbed for evaluating new chip designs and manufacturing workflows. For example, TSMC's new fabrication facility in Arizona will likely need to undergo a series of fine-tuning and optimization steps to its factory processes before reaching full production capacity.
