If you&#39;re not familiar, it&#39;s a re-imagining of the Oz mythos which inspired that [i]Wicked[/i] musical that I&#39;ve never seen that then spawned that grotesque Hollyweird assault they call a movie. <br/> <br/>It&#39;s an excellent series of novels in my view, easily his best work. The author builds out a queasy magical realist playground through which he pursues an unrelenting exploration of pessimism; the series is heavy with themes of absurdism, psychosis, abandonment, the destruction of innocence and self-nullification.
