Like in the responses to your poll it triggered a whole bunch of interesting discussion. Unfortunately all happens on a communication medium where all insights are lost tomorrow (except for those who keep records and archives, I guess :)

I think really this is an "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" kind of thing, which is inherent to how we evolve the app-centric fediverse. We try to hammer all forms of communication into a Microblog design.

The app platform becomes a straightjacket way of doing things as intended by its developer owners, plus a bag of features to allow variations to that for instance owners, so they can deal with a certain set of edge cases.

I'd choose the option "it depends". It is solution-specific. But there needs to be crystal clear mutual expectations and proper management thereof.

This bot is already combining logic, has multiple 'profle logic' tags. Dunno if "NoBots" is also already common protocol-decaying practice.

Maybe a solution might be that an #ActivityPub bot actor - OT: which I'd personally perhaps had chosen to be Application, not Service actors - would have a botFlags property. Simple to implement, and #FEP that.

More involved but also much more versatile might be a "Botiquette" as:Profile, or even a bots:Botiquette type, and a namespace to register them at, and where others may find what they mean and how they operate exactly.

Btw, the event-based approach is also what attracted me to Datastar. One of the devs who works in gaming (hence focus on performance and intermediate UI) is using a bootstrap for both hobby and work that is event-sourced and has NATS and SQLite on the back-end by default.

More generally it is interesting to consider event-driven architecture e.g. for the collaborative social web i.e. fediverse.

I'm looking for simple tech to experiment with that a bit :)

Here we are a 'single-threaded' individual that walks their own timeline, who enters a global square when there is a need and just as seamlessly weaves into different social contexts where other social networking use cases play out, for different audiences.

It is a pity that #Peertube has never been well integrated with #Microblogging. The primary way we become aware of a #video is when someone drops the URL in a toot, and we open it in a separate tab. We watch while not logged into the particular PeerTube (npub17gp…7p4g) instance, thus not giving likes and having interesting discussions in the comments section.

Same is true for #Pixelfed and #Mobilizon etc.

Check out Steve Bate (npub1p9l…l05x) on #SocialHub with a proposal to work on #ActivityPub #C2S, the client-to-server Social API part of the #W3C Recommendation.

The Social API didn't get much uptake on the #Fediverse where generally the #Mastodon API is used (and abused) for client/server communication.

It is not because the Social API isn't good, just that no one ever did the legwork to mature this part of the spec.
