I'm posting this to: 1. Get the idea out of my head, and 2. See if it's actually something worth pursuing. I'm sure there are plenty of logistics/budget/policy questions that would need to be answered to determine if it's even something feasible.

Could conferences embrace the tradition and give our artists - many of whom gave talks/lightning talks or created posters this week in #Pittsburgh - a more powerful voice?

In a time where people are unable to attend America-based events in person, this is also something that could increase diversity and democratize participation to an extent - artists may find sending their art (and maybe a video [to be played on loop] describing the art and the process) easier than attending in person.

Conference organizers are some of the most dedicated, wonderful, hard-working people I know, so please do not take this post as an assault, disappointment with the conference, or anything of that nature.

They do a ton already, and this idea might end up taking too much time/$/etc (or just not providing enough 'bang for the buck').

And #PyConUS was the most fun, engaging, entertaining, educational, and encouraging thing I've participated in since October of last year!

Why spend all day optimizing and fixing migrations when you can aim for the low-hanging fruit and call it a win?

I replaced 113 of my 250 migrations with 15 squashed migrations - and had 0 issues.

Some folks say not to anthropomorphize pets, and that they don't actually smile.

I woke today fully booted up. Like somebody replaced my ailing 5400 RPM disk drive with an SSD.

Not sure why/how, but I sure wish I did so I could reliably replicate this.

While I have gotten a lot of utility from this package, and I think it solves a problem in many B2B SaaS apps, finding the right words/title/lingo to market the package effectively to the community has been a challenge.

The original name was 'flexible-list-of-values', but that did not seem to capture the intent very well. I did a lot of back-and-forth before settling on django-tenant-options, which I hope is a bit more clear.

The tenant can change these at any time. And because we soft-delete options, any previously-completed form will show valid data even if a tenant removes an option from the form.

- CharField with choices (inflexible, migrate for each change 🙄)
- ManyToManyField with a custom model (complex 😓)

The `showtemplates` command lists all templates in the project, depending on the template engines and loaders that are configured in the #Django settings, and display them in the way you should add them to a {% url "" %} template tag or for rendering in a view.

It's handy in case you're unsure *where* a template is or how it should be referenced.

- Session Chairs*
- Health & Safety Check-in
- Online Moderators
- Swag Bag Stuffing (if in area on Sunday)

* Session Chair involves making sure the speakers are mic'd and have everything they need, and give them an intro if they desire. It's really pretty fun!

I know I've contributed to this trend myself, but I'm not sure what the better solution is. Projects die - that's a fact of life in software and the physical world.

As a package maintainer, what's the best way to mitigate the problems caused by a project's eventual death?

I sometimes get into avoidance loops where I stress myself out over not having completed some (typically trivial) task, and it may take weeks or months to do the thing (reply to a text, drop by pist office, etc) - all the while I'm thinking about it constantly. And then I feel so foolishness after completing what should have been effortless.

Maybe highlighting & scheduling the thing will make it more manageable. Can't hurt to try.

Seriously, though, the list I have pinned in Obsidian right has 72 checkboxes of things needing done for the business I run. But few of those checkboxes are about the *business* side of owning a business 😬

And that's just for my business, and doesn't include todo for work I am doing for my other career (which is maintained in OneNote on work laptop to keep them separated).

The thing about #ADHD is that I have ~50 #Projects in various stages of progress going at any time.

I've gotten really good at ensuring I can get back into a project even after a haitius.

But I am incredibly bad at prioritizing 😣

And because there's 50 projects to pick from, it's super easy to pick one that 1) I haven't worked on in a while so it feels novel, or 2) One that brings joy in the moment, but prevents more important work getting done.

Anyone have tips for better #Prioritization?
