Satoshi Nakamoto's foundational insight was about trust, more specifically, about its elimination. Banks, payment processors, governments, all of these entities occupy that intermediary role, and all of them are points of failure, censorship, and control. Bitcoin was engineered, with extraordinary precision, to make that trusted third party totally unnecessary.

This is a genuinely revolutionary thing, but it contains a contradiction that has grown more dangerous with every year of Bitcoin's adoption, one that the community has been too comfortable ignoring. While Bitcoin eliminates the trusted third party at the monetary layer, most Bitcoiners access that monetary layer through devices that are entirely subordinate to trusted third parties who are institutionally, commercially, and philosophically opposed to everything Bitcoin represents.

While you may run your own node, hold your own keys; you do all of it on a device that reports your location to Google every few minutes, routes your app installations through a duopoly that has demonstrated willingness to remove Bitcoin wallets under regulatory pressure, and is architecturally incapable of resisting an OS-level identity mandate when one arrives, as one now demonstrably is.

The trusted third party that Satoshi eliminated from money has simply migrated up the stack. It now lives in your pocket. In my opinion, GrapheneOS is a critical layer for finishing the work that Satoshi started.

GrapheneOS is a security and privacy-focused mobile operating system built on the Android Open Source Project. Founded in 2019 by the GrapheneOS Foundation, it had approximately 400,000 active users as of April 2026. It runs on Google Pixel hardware, a counterintuitive choice whose justification is rooted in hardware security requirements, not corporate allegiance.

Pseudonymous Bitcoin use on a mainstream OS becomes technically impossible not because of any flaw in Bitcoin's protocol, but because the device enforces identity before the protocol can be accessed.

This to me, is not just mere speculation but the logical extension of laws that have already been passed, infrastructure that has already been built, and regulatory pressure that has already produced app-store-level Bitcoin censorship in multiple jurisdictions.

GrapheneOS is explicitly outside this architecture. It does not implement OS-level age signals, identity APIs, or compliance hooks. The implications for Bitcoin users are direct. If your device is a surveillance instrument, then your Bitcoin wallet, including its keys, its balances, its transaction patterns, its Lightning payment history, operates inside a surveillance instrument. The cryptographic integrity of your keys is intact, while the operational security of how you use them is not.

The cryptographic layer is fine while the infrastructure layer is not yours. The trusted third party has been removed from the monetary protocol and reintroduced at the hardware-and-OS layer, which is precisely where it can observe everything and intervene whenever political pressure makes intervention convenient.

You cannot have a permissionless monetary layer built on a permissioned infrastructure layer without the permission infrastructure eventually capturing the monetary layer or at the very least being used as a chokepoint to the users to constrain actions that the powers that be don’t like. The question is not whether this capture will be attempted, but whether the tools to resist it will be ready when the call comes.

Running a non-custodial Bitcoin wallet on that device is like holding your own keys in a bank vault: the keys are technically yours, but the vault belongs to someone else, the vault operator has demonstrated willingness to follow government instructions, and the door can be locked from the outside.

GrapheneOS closes this gap. It is definitely not for everyone as it requires specific hardware, imposes real tradeoffs, and demands more effort than stock Android. That said, it still remains as the honest implementation of what self-custody actually requires in 2026: not just a private key, but a private device, one that cannot be remotely censored, identity-gated, telemetry-harvested, or OS-compromised by the platforms and rogue states..

You can continue requesting permission from Apple and Google for the software you run, the people you communicate with, and the transactions you make. That permission can always be revoked. Right now, there is no standard way to discover how to reach a Nostr-related service using Nostr itself.

In practice, service connection details are typically published in README files, project websites, or social posts. A human reads this information and configures the client manually. There is no standard way for clients to discover or resolve these details automatically.

This approach works most of the time, but it breaks down in predictable ways. Services move. Endpoints rotate. Onion services appear. Relays go offline. Clients are forced to rely on assumptions that are rarely written down in a form software can use.

NCC-06 exists to address this problem directly.

It defines an identity-first relay participation profile that allows relays to be discovered, resolved, and connected to using signed Nostr data, without relying on DNS or central registries.

This does not change the Nostr protocol. It does not introduce new message types. It does not move logic into relays.

Where NCC-06 fits

NCC-06 builds on existing conventions rather than replacing them.

The responsibilities are deliberately separated:

This ensures records remain discoverable even if the relay being described is temporarily unreachable.

Key and endpoint lifecycle management

Under NCC-06, sidecars are responsible not only for publishing records, but for ensuring that published records accurately reflect the material they describe.

This includes cryptographic keys and network endpoints.

Key creation and rotation

When a relay exposes a transport that relies on cryptographic identity, the sidecar is responsible for ensuring the corresponding keys are created, managed, and accurately reflected in published records.

In practice this includes:

Generating or observing TLS key material for wss:// endpoints

Computing and publishing the corresponding NCC-02 k value

Ensuring the published k matches the key actually presented by the endpoint

Republishing NCC-02 Service Records when keys change or rotate

NCC-06 does not mandate how keys are generated or stored. It requires only that published assertions remain aligned with reality.

Relays do not generate, validate, or reason about these keys.

Onion address creation and management

When a relay offers onion endpoints, the sidecar may be responsible for creating and operating the onion service, or for observing an externally managed onion service and publishing updates when it changes.

This typically involves:

Creating or monitoring a Tor hidden service using existing Tor tooling

Managing or observing onion service keys and configuration

Detecting onion address rotation or regeneration

Republishing NCC-05 Locator records when onion endpoints change

NCC-06 does not invent a new onion mechanism. It assumes the use of existing Tor services and tooling.

The sidecar’s responsibility is to observe changes and reflect them in NCC-05, not to expose Tor internals to relays or clients.

Keeping records aligned with service state

A core responsibility of the sidecar is to ensure that published records describe reality, not intent.

This includes:

Republishing NCC-02 Service Records when endpoint keys change

Republishing NCC-05 Locators when endpoints appear, disappear, or move

Avoiding stale records that no longer match reachable services

Publishing updates before expiry where possible

Failure to keep records aligned results in predictable client failure. NCC-06 makes this failure visible rather than implicit.

Deterministic client behaviour

NCC-06 defines explicit client behaviour for real-world failure and ambiguity.

Multiple valid connection paths

The goal is convergence and predictable behaviour, not correctness enforcement by infrastructure.

What NCC-06 is not

NCC-06 does not:

Replace DNS

Define a naming system

Guarantee availability

Prevent Sybil attacks

Enforce trust or moderation policy

Require protocol changes

It is strictly about composing identity, location, and reachability using existing Nostr primitives.

NCC-06 now defines a complete relay participation profile, including:

what relays publish and serve

how sidecars publish redundantly

how clients resolve, cache, and fall back

The remaining work is implementation and validation.

Run a Local Development Server

Open a second terminal window and use the cd command to navigate into your project's directory. Once you're inside the folder, run the command npm run dev. This will start the development server, allowing you to test and view your application locally. After it starts, you'll see output in the terminal confirming that the server is running. You can then open your web browser and go to a local URL like http://localhost:8080 to see your app in action.

To stop the development server, simply press Control + C in your terminal. This will exit the development environment and stop the local server.

Use Git for Version Control

Open a third terminal window. This one will be dedicated to using Git. Git is a version control tool that helps you track changes in your project. It's especially useful when working with AI tools like Dork, where results can sometimes be unexpected or break existing functionality. By using Git, you can easily return to a previous, working version of your code if something goes wrong.

For example, if you ask Dork to add user profiles and it introduces bugs or breaks another feature, you don't want to waste time trying to fix everything manually. Instead, you can quickly roll back to a previous version and try your prompt again with adjustments.

Safe Git Workflow

Stage and commit your changes:
$ git add .
$ git commit -m "working user profiles"
Reset to last commit if something breaks:
$ git reset --hard

To stay safe, make commits often. A typical workflow looks like this: git add . adds all the files you've changed, and git commit -m "working user profiles" saves the current state of your project with a message.

If something goes wrong, you can reset your project by running: git reset --hard This will undo all changes since your last commit. Be careful! This command deletes all uncommitted work, which is why frequent commits are important. More advanced users can also revert specific commits or roll back to older versions selectively if needed.

If you created additional files for the project that are now untracked or not included, you may want to consider cleaning those up as well. You can do this by running: git clean -f -d. Just be cautious: this command permanently deletes all untracked files and folders. It's helpful if a previous git reset left behind files or instructions that could accidentally reintroduce features you were trying to remove or fix.

Working with Dork

Sometimes Dork can get a little too eager and crash while processing your request. If that happens, don't worry, it's easy to get back on track. Simply open your terminal, make sure you're inside your project's directory, and run the command: stacks agent This will restart Dork and allow you to continue building right where you left off.

If something isn't working after a couple of prompts, don't keep trying the same thing over and over. This gets expensive! Instead, press Control + C to exit your session with Dork. Then, use git reset --hard to revert your project back to the last known good commit. Once that's done, restart Dork with stacks agent and try your prompt again. This time try with clearer instructions based on what didn't work before.

Treat each failed attempt as a learning moment. Use what you've learned to refine your prompt and guide Dork more effectively toward what you're trying to build.

Switching AI Providers

If you ever want to change your AI provider or try a new one, Stacks makes it simple. Just run the command stacks configure. This will walk you through the same setup process you followed when you first launched Stacks and configured Dork. You'll be prompted to select a new AI provider and enter your API key. This is especially useful if you want to explore different providers for performance, privacy, or pricing reasons.

Stacks also supports using AI providers that include Bitcoin Lightning and Cashu payment options. You can use Routstr by selecting the OpenRouter option, minting a Cashu token (at least 3000 sats) using a wallet like cashu.me, pasting that token into the API key field, and entering https://api.routstr.com or another Routstr server URL. To use PayPerQ, select OpenAI-compatible, enter your API key from ppq.ai, and use https://api.ppq.ai as the URL. These options give you more flexibility in how you access and pay for AI usage, giving you more control while you continue to vibe code your Nostr app.

Pushing to Production

Now that you've become a confident Nostr developer, thanks to vibe coding and Dork's help along the way, you might reach a point where you're ready to share your app with others in the Nostr community. Zionistische Theorie

Die Gewaltbereitschaft von Jabotinskys Organisation überrascht nicht wirklich, wenn man weiß, das gerade der zionistische Revisionismus der 1920er stark von Mussolinis Faschismus in Italien inspiriert war. Siehe Artikel der Haaretz vom 20. Juli 2019 mit dem Titel* »Als die Juden Mussolini verehrten und Nazis unterstützten: Lernen Sie Israels erste Faschisten kennen*«. Jabotinsky sah im faschistischen Italien eine aufstrebende Macht, die er als natürlichen Alliierten verstand (S.150). So gründete er 1934 und in Abstimmung mit Benito Mussolini die Betar Naval Academy in Civitavecchia (Italien), um Kadetten aus aller Welt für die israelischen Seestreitkräfte auszubilden. Groß-israelisch orientierte Revisionisten wie Jabotinsky berufen sich auf die ursprünglichen Ziele des Zionismus und lehnen jegliche Kompromisse mit der arabischen Bevölkerung hinsichtlich der jüdischen Besiedlung Palästinas ab.

Nachzuvollziehen ist diese Position unter anderem in Jabotinskys 1923 für Rasswet, eine zionistische Zeitschrift und zunächst auf russisch publizierten Essay »Die Eiserne Mauer (Wir und die Araber)«. Jabotinsky war der Ansicht, dass die arabische Bevölkerung Palästinas niemals freiwillig eine jüdische Mehrheitsbevölkerung akzeptieren würde und für die Übernahme ihres Landes seitens der Zionisten auch keine »Gegenleistung« zu erbringen sei. Daher müsse die zionistische Kolonisierung entweder aufhören – oder ohne jegliche Rücksicht auf die einheimische Bevölkerung vorangehen. Und Zweiteres ist augenscheinlich der Fall. Diese »versteckten Wurzeln von Israels faschistischer Vergangenheit« waren unter anderem Thema eines Beitrags des Middle East Monitor vom 27. Januar 2020. Obwohl man in Anbetracht von Betars Aktivitäten in den Vereinigten Staaten und dem fortgesetzten Genozid in Gaza wohl kaum noch von einer »faschistischen Vergangenheit« sprechen kann.

Eine Woche nach »Die Eiserne Mauer« veröffentlichte Jabotinsky eine Ergänzung mit dem Titel »Die Ethik der eisernen Mauer«. Darin erklärte er:

»Es ist ein Akt einfacher Gerechtigkeit, denjenigen Nationen einen Teil ihres Landes zu entfremden, die zu den großen Landbesitzern der Welt gehören, um einem heimatlosen wandernden Volk einen Zufluchtsort zu geben. Und wenn ein solch großes Land besitzendes Volk sich widersetzt, was ganz und gar normal ist, muss es mit Zwang dazu gebracht werden, zuzustimmen. Gerechtigkeit, die mit Zwang durchgesetzt wird, hört nicht auf, Gerechtigkeit zu sein. Dies ist die einzige Politik gegenüber den Arabern, die wir für möglich halten. Was Verträge betrifft, werden wir später Zeit haben, darüber zu diskutieren.«

Im Lichte solcher Statements ist es umso verwerflicher, wenn Betar USA sich auf der eigenen Webseite bis heute offen zur Ideologie von Jabotinsky bekennt und Schlüsselfiguren der Organisation in der Grayzone-Dokumentation damit prahlen, für »die meisten« von der Trump-Regierung durchgeführten Deportationen wegen Antisemitismus verantwortlich zu sein. Denn Ikonen des Zionismus wie Jabotinsky machten – im Gegensatz zu heutigen Lobbyorganisationen wie AIPAC und ADL – nie einen Hehl daraus, dass es sich bei der Schaffung des Staates Israel um ein Kolonisierungsprojekt handelt, das die Vertreibung der einheimischen Bevölkerung voraussetzt. Ihre Organisationen trugen die Absicht meist schon im Namen: Jewish Colonisation Association (1891), Palestine Jewish Colonisation Association (1924), Jewish Colonial Trust alias Jüdische Kolonialbank (1899, heute Bank Leumi) oder die Abteilung Kolonialisierung der Jewish Agency for Israel (1929), heute die weltweit größte NGO der World Zionist Organization (WZO), welche 1897 von Theodor Herzl gegründet wurde.

Wladimir Jabotinsky erklärte unumwunden: »Zionismus ist ein koloniales Abenteuer«. Theodor Herzl nannte das zionistische Projekt 1902 in einem Brief an Cecil Rhodes, der die Apartheid mit dem Glen Grey Act 1894 in Südafrika erst erfunden hatte, »etwas Koloniales«. 1896 sprach Herzl von »wichtigen kolonialen Experimenten«, die derzeit in Palästina stattfänden (Abb. 2, 3).

Am 3. September 1897, beim Zionistenkongress der WZO in Basel, schrieb (S.15) Herzl: »In Basel habe ich den jüdischen Staat gegründet. Würde ich das heute laut aussprechen, würde ich allgemeines Gelächter ernten. Vielleicht in fünf Jahren – und ganz sicher in fünfzig – wird es jeder wissen«. In seinem Tagebuch (S.47) prognostizierte Herzl: »Die Antisemiten werden unsere loyalsten Freunde werden, die antisemitischen Nationen unsere Alliierten«. Eine geradezu schockierende Litanei ähnlich gelagerter Zitate einflussreicher Zionisten findet sich auf der Webseite der »Partners for Progressive Israel« oder bei »Palestine Remembered«. So sagte David Ben-Gurion bei einer Rede 1938:

»Lasst uns die Wahrheit nicht ignorieren. Politisch gesehen sind wir die Aggressoren und sie verteidigen sich. Das Land gehört ihnen, weil sie es bewohnen, wohingegen wir hierherkommen und uns niederlassen wollen – und in ihren Augen wollen wir ihnen ihr Land wegnehmen. Hinter dem Terrorismus steht eine Bewegung, die zwar primitiv ist, aber nicht frei von Idealismus und Selbstaufopferung«.

Am 22. November 1947 erpressten von Ben-Gurion entsandte Agenten den Gründer der International Basic Economy Cooperation (IBEC), Nelson Rockefeller, um die für den 29. November 1947 angesetzte UN-Abstimmung zur Resolution 181 (II), die zur Gründung des Staates Israel führen sollte, zu manipulieren. Rockefeller sollte mittels der einflussreichen IBEC dafür sorgen, dass die südamerikanischen Staaten für die Annahme der Resolution stimmen. Das Druckmittel (S. 424 ff.): Dokumente, die belegen, dass sowohl die Familien Rockefeller und Bush als auch eine Vielzahl anderer Wall-Street-Größen den Aufstieg des Dritten Reiches finanzierten. Der Plan ging auf. Die Dokumente verschwanden. Und der vom erfolgreichen UN-Votum beflügelte Ben-Gurion erklärte 1948 gegenüber seinem Generalstab:

»Wir sollten uns auf die Offensive vorbereiten. Unser Ziel ist es, den Libanon, Transjordanien und Syrien zu zerschlagen. Der Schwachpunkt ist der Libanon, denn das muslimische Regime ist artifiziell und für uns leicht zu untergraben. Wir werden dort einen christlichen Staat errichten und dann die Arabische Legion zerschlagen, Transjordanien eliminieren. Syrien wird in unsere Hände fallen. Dann bombardieren wir und rücken weiter vor, um Port Said, Alexandria und den Sinai einzunehmen.«

Auf die Frage, was mit den Palästinensern geschehen soll, antwortete Israels erster Premierminister einst salopp:

»Vertreibt sie!«.

Und in sein Tagebuch schrieb Ben-Gurion am 18. Juli 1948:

»Wir müssen alles unternehmen, um sicherzustellen, dass sie nie zurückkehren«.

Yosef Weitz, ab 1932 Direktor des 1901 gegründeten und im Jahr 2015 knapp 13 Milliarden schweren Jewish National Fund (JNF), Spitzname »Architekt des Transfers«, umriss (S. 132) das zionistische Ziel wie folgt: »Die zionistische Idee ist die Antwort auf die Judenfrage im Land Israel (...). Die vollständige Evakuierung des Landes von seinen übrigen Bewohnern und dessen Übergabe an das jüdische Volk ist die Antwort«. Eine Seite später ergänzt er: »Durch Landkäufe, ohne Maßnahmen zur Umsiedlung der palästinensisch-arabischen Bevölkerung, werden wir unser Problem nicht lösen können«. Wie Weitz das »arabische Problem« zu lösen gedachte, lässt sich auf Seite 186 des Buches »Expulsion of the Palestinians« nachlesen: »Ich habe eine Liste der [palästinensischen] arabischen Dörfer erstellt, die meiner Meinung nach geräumt werden müssen, um jüdische Gebiete zu vervollständigen. Außerdem habe ich eine Liste der Orte erstellt, wo Streitigkeiten um Land bestehen und wir militärisch eingreifen müssen«.

Max Nordau stellte auf Seite 40 seines Buches »Zionismus und Antisemitismus« bereits 1905 klar:

»Der Zionismus lehnt prinzipiell jede Kolonisation im kleinen Maßstab und die Idee eines Einschleichens nach Palästina ab«. Im Gegenteil fordert er, »dass die bestehenden und vielversprechenden Anfänge einer jüdischen Kolonisation gepflegt und erhalten werden sollen, bis die Bewegung in großem Umfang möglich ist«.

Zionistische Praxis

Dieser Umfang sollte zum Beispiel durch »Hebräische Arbeit« – auch genannt »Eroberung durch Arbeit« – erreicht werden. Durch ein zionistisches Konzept, das ab 1905 viel Unterstützung bei den jüdischen Siedlern fand und darauf abzielte, arabischstämmige Arbeitskräfte zu vertreiben. Parallel dazu erwarben zionistische Organisationen Landflächen in Palästina und legten fest, dass diese niemals an nicht-jüdische Besitzer übergehen dürften. In die gleiche Kerbe schlug die Gründung der ersten Kibbuzim, die als kollektivistische Agrargemeinschaften nur Menschen jüdischer Abstammung aufnahmen. Damit war das Kibbuz auch Prototyp für jene Siedlungen, die später außerhalb der Landesgrenzen Israels entstehen sollten. Der aus Belarus stammende Chaim Weizmann, zunächst Präsident der World Zionist Organisation und später erster Staatspräsident Israels, schrieb in seiner 1949 veröffentlichten Autobiographie, er habe »die Hoffnung, dass Palästina durch jüdische Einwanderung letztendlich so jüdisch werden würde wie England englisch ist«. Weizmann erklärt in seinem Buch, wie er sich den »herausragenden Erfolg, den die Franzosen in Tunesien hatten«, zum Vorbild nahm. »Was die Franzosen in Tunesien erreicht haben, könnten die Juden in Palästina erreichen«, so Weizmann.

Die 1948 beginnende Nakba, die knapp 750.000 arabischstämmige Palästinenser ihre Heimat kostete, unterstrich, dass Weizmann nicht übertrieben hatte. Paramilitärische Terrorgruppen wie Haganah, Irgun und Lehi – aus denen sich später die IDF (Israel Defense Forces) formten – massakrierten skrupellos die einheimische Bevölkerung und räumten über 500 Dörfer, die entweder dem Erdboden gleichgemacht oder direkt von Siedlern übernommen und mit neuen hebräischen Namen ausgestattet wurden. Israel vermarktet die ethnische Säuberung der Nakba bis heute als Teil eines Unabhängigkeitskrieges, der zur staatlichen Souveränität Israels beigetragen habe. Zionistischer Zynismus. Denn der Nakba folgte die Naksa, eine weitere Welle von Vertreibungen, die nach dem Sechstagekrieg von 1967 begann – und nie aufhörte.

Wer sich dieser Tage also primär echauffiert, weil die Opfer von ethnischer Säuberung und Oppression sich mit den ihnen zur Verfügung stehenden Mitteln wehren, sei auf eine Rede des ehemaligen israelischen Stabschefs Moshe Dayan aus dem Jahr 1956 verwiesen:

**»Wer sind wir, dass wir gegen ihren Hass ankämpfen sollten? Seit acht Jahren sitzen sie nun schon in ihren Flüchtlingslagern in Gaza – und vor ihren Augen machen wir das Land und die Dörfer, in denen sie und ihre Vorfahren gelebt haben, zu unserem Siedlungsgebiet. Wir sind eine Generation von Siedlern. Ohne Stahlhelm und Kanone können wir keinen Baum pflanzen und kein Haus bauen.« **

Damals waren es erst »acht Jahre«. Nun sind es bald achtzig – und von Gaza ist kaum noch etwas übrig. Nach aktuellen Angaben der Vereinten Nationen sind 80 Prozent der Gebäude im Gazastreifen zerstört oder beschädigt. In Gaza Stadt sind es 92 Prozent. Die Times of Israel sprach am 8. Oktober von 83 Prozent und circa 81.000 Gebäuden. Knapp 70.000 Menschen starben bislang aufgrund der unverhältnismäßigen israelischen Angriffe. Darunter mindestens 20.000 Kinder.

El Salvador trotzt weiter dem IWF und nun kam sogar ein Post des Präsidenten Bukele auf X, der sich auf einen verstärkten Bitcoinkauf beziehen könnte. Damit würde es dem Land vielleicht gelingen, je nach Kursverlauf von Bitcoin, bis Ende des Jahres Bitcoin im Wert von einer Milliarde US-Dollar zu besitzen. Für das kleine Land eine beträchtliche Menge, im internationalen Vergleich sind aber inzwischen eine Milliarde US-Dollar keine große Summe. Doch die Richtung scheint zu stimmen, denn sonst wäre der IWF nicht so stark gegen den Bitcoinkurs des Landes.

Mit der angekündigten Verifizierungspflicht für alle App-Entwickler ab 2026 vollzieht Google einen dramatischen Paradigmenwechsel, der das einst offene Android-Ökosystem in einen streng kontrollierten Walled Garden verwandelt. Was als "Sicherheitsmaßnahme" verkauft wird, entpuppt sich bei genauerer Betrachtung als perfider Griff nach totaler Kontrolle über die digitale Infrastruktur von Milliarden Menschen weltweit.

Die neue Regelung zwingt jeden Entwickler, seine vollständige Identität inklusive Ausweisdokumenten bei Google zu hinterlegen. Anonyme oder pseudonyme Entwicklung, bisher ein Grundpfeiler der Open-Source-Bewegung und essentiell für Whistleblower-Apps oder Protestsoftware in autoritären Regimen, wird damit unmöglich. Google mutiert zum alleinigen Torwächter, der nach eigenem Gutdünken entscheidet, welche Software auf Android-Geräten laufen darf.

Besonders perfide ist die Argumentation mit angeblich 50-mal mehr Malware bei Sideloading-Apps. Diese Statistik rechtfertigt keinesfalls die Abschaffung fundamentaler Nutzerfreiheiten. Erwachsene Menschen sollten selbst entscheiden dürfen, welche Risiken sie eingehen – genau wie sie auch ohne staatliche Bevormundung Auto fahren oder Alkohol konsumieren dürfen. Stattdessen etabliert Google ein System totaler Überwachung, in dem jede App-Installation nachverfolgbar wird.

Die Konsequenzen sind verheerend: Hobby-Entwickler werden aufgeben, innovative Projekte sterben, alternative App-Stores verlieren ihre Daseinsberechtigung. Android, einst als offene Alternative zu Apples iOS gefeiert, wird zu einem noch restriktiveren System – mit dem entscheidenden Unterschied, dass Google im Gegensatz zu Apple keinerlei glaubwürdige Privatsphäre-Versprechen abgibt.

Was bleibt, ist ein bitterer Beigeschmack: Unter dem Deckmantel der Sicherheit zementiert ein Megakonzern seine Monopolstellung und schafft eine Infrastruktur, die jederzeit für Zensur und Kontrolle missbraucht werden kann. Die digitale Freiheit stirbt nicht mit einem Knall, sondern mit einem Software-Update – und dem Applaus derer, die Sicherheit über Freiheit stellen.

Bitcoin Core-Entwickler wollen es einfacher machen, mehr Daten in Bitcoin-Transaktionen einzubetten. Das öffnet Tür und Tor für Spam.

Aktuell schützt das Bitcoin-Netzwerk sich halbwegs dagegen: Es gibt Filter, die versuchen, unnötige Datenflut zu blockieren – ein ständiger Kampf zwischen Spammern und Entwicklern. Doch jetzt schlagen einige vor, diese Filter zu lockern oder ganz abzuschaffen.

Das Problem?

Spammer könnten günstig riesige Mengen Müll-Daten auf alle Bitcoin-Nutzer abladen.

Der Speicherbedarf wächst – für alle.

Die Änderungen würden eingeführt, ohne Nutzern eine Möglichkeit zum Ablehnen zu geben.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), we face a future where we may soon have access to almost everything we desire – at least in the digital realm. But unfortunately, what we wish for doesn’t always align with what we truly need, or what would benefit us.

The Dutch ethologist Niko Tinbergen was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1973 for his studies of animal behaviour patterns. While earlier scientists had primarily focused on learning as the main explanation for animal behaviour, Tinbergen instead emphasised instincts.

Tinbergen studied, among other things, what makes newly hatched bird chicks beg for food from their parents. This was investigated by presenting parentless chicks with various painted beak models to see which ones they would seek food from. Several objects proved more popular than real gull beaks.

Artificial eggs were also created and placed in bird nests. Black-headed gulls that received wooden eggs before laying their own were found to actually refrain from laying real eggs. Fake eggs were painted in different colours and patterns, and made in various sizes. The gulls always preferred trying to incubate eggs of absurd sizes – for example eggs with eight times the volume of real ones. The poor gulls made desperate attempts to sit on these giant eggs – but often slid off.

The explanation for the gulls’ self-destructive behaviour was that they had a hardwired ability (instinct) to respond to specific stimuli (appearance of beaks and eggs with particular colours/sizes). Researchers exaggerated these stimuli, creating stronger but ultimately misguided reactions. The concept of "superstimuli" was hatched. Nothing in the gulls’ evolution had prepared them for these experiments, explaining their self-destructive behaviors.

Psychologist Deirdre Barrett has translated this concept to a human context. She argues that superstimuli govern human behaviours much like they do other animals’, citing junk food consumption, addictive social media use, and pornography consumption as examples. Nothing in Homo sapiens’ evolution prepared us for modern society’s stimuli, which might explain our frequently self-destructive behaviours.

After my first major review of Primal on Android, we're going to go a very different direction for this next review. Primal is your standard "Twitter clone" type of kind 1 note client, now branching into long-form. They also have a team of developers working on making it one of the best clients to fill that use-case. By contrast, this review will not be focusing on any client at all. Not even an "other stuff" client.

Instead, we will be reviewing a very useful tool created and maintained by greenart7c3 (npub1w4u…0jr5) called #Amber. For those unfamiliar with Amber, it is an #Android application dedicated to managing your signing keys, and allowing you to log into various #Nostr applications without having to paste in your private key, better known as your #nsec. It is not recommended to paste your nsec into various applications because they each represent another means by which it could be compromised, and anyone who has your nsec can post as you. On Nostr, your #npub is your identity, and your signature using your private key is considered absolute proof that any given note, reaction, follow update, or profile change was authorized by the rightful owner of that identity.

It happens less often these days, but early on, when the only way to try out a new client was by inputting your nsec, users had their nsec compromised from time to time, or they would suspect that their key may have been compromised. When this occurs, there is no way to recover your account, or set a new private key, deprecating the previous one. The only thing you can do is start over from scratch, letting everyone know that your key has been compromised and to follow you on your new npub.

If you use Amber to log into other Nostr apps, you significantly reduce the likelihood that your private key will be compromised, because only one application has access to it, and all other applications reach out to Amber to sign any events. This isn't quite as secure as storing your private key on a separate device that isn't connected to the internet whatsoever, like many of us have grown accustomed to with securing our #Bitcoin, but then again, an online persona isn't nearly as important to secure for most of us as our entire life savings.

Amber is the first application of its kind for managing your Nostr keys on a mobile device. greenart7c3 (npub1w4u…0jr5) didn't merely develop the application, but literally created the specification for accomplishing external signing on Android which can be found in NIP-55. Unfortunately, Amber is only available for Android. A signer application for iOS is in the works from Terry Yiu (npub1yau…vjmf), but is not ready for use at this time. There is also a new mobile signer app for Android and iOS called Nowser, but I have not yet had a chance to try this app out. From a cursory look at the Android version, it is indeed in the very early stages of development and cannot be compared with Amber.

This review of Amber is current as of version 3.2.5.

Overall Impression

I cannot speak highly enough about Amber as a tool that every Nostr user on Android should start using if they are not already. When the day comes that we have more options for well-developed signer apps on mobile, my opinion may very well change, but until then Amber is what we have available to us. Even so, it is an incredibly well thought-out and reliable tool for securing your nsec.

Despite being the only well-established Android signer available for Android, Amber can be compared with other external signing methods available on other platforms. Even with more competition in this arena, though, Amber still holds up incredibly well. If you are signing into web applications on a desktop, I still would recommend using a browser extension like #Alby or #Nos2x, as the experience is usually faster, more seamless, and far more web apps support this signing method (NIP-07) than currently support the two methods employed by Amber. Nevertheless that gap is definitely narrowing.

I have run into relatively few bugs in my extensive use of Amber for all of my mobile signing needs. Occasionally the application crashes when trying to send it a signing request from a couple of applications, but I would not be surprised if this is no fault of Amber at all, and rather the fault of those specific apps, since it works flawlessly with the vast majority of apps that support either NIP-55 or NIP-46 login.

I also believe that mobile is the ideal platform to use for this type of application. First, because most people use Nostr clients on their phone more than on a desktop. There are, of course, exceptions to that, but in general we spend more time on our phones when interacting online. New users are also more likely to be introduced to Nostr by a friend having them download a Nostr client on their phone than on a PC, and that can be a prime opportunity to introduce the new user to protecting their private key. Finally, I agree with the following assessment from hodlbod (npub1jlr…ynqn).

The one downside to Amber is that it will be quite foreign for new users. That is partially unavoidable with Nostr, since folks are not accustomed to public/private key cryptography in general, let alone using a private key to log into websites or social media apps. However, the initial signup process is a bit cumbersome if Amber is being used as the means of initially generating a key pair. I think some of this could be foregone at start-up in favor of streamlining onboarding, and then encourage the user to back-up their private key at a later time.

Features

Amber has some features that may surprise you, outside of just storing your private key and signing requests from your favorite Nostr clients. It is a full key management application, supporting multiple accounts, various backup methods, and even the ability to authorize other users to access a Nostr profile you control.

Android Signing

This is the signing method where Amber really shines in both speed and ease of use. Any Android application that supports this standard, and even some progressive web-apps that can be installed to your Android's home-screen, can very quickly and seamlessly connect with Amber to authorize anything that you need signed with your nsec. All you have to do is select "Login with Amber" in clients like #Amethyst or #0xChat and the app will reach out to Amber for all signing requests from there on out. If you had previously signed into the app with your nsec, you will first need to log out, then choose the option to use Amber when you log back in.

This is a massive deal, because everything you do on Nostr requires a signature from your private key. Log in? Needs a signature. Post a "GM" note? Needs a signature. Follow someone who zapped your note? Needs a signature. Zap them back? You guessed it; needs a signature. When you paste your private key into an application, it will automatically sign a lot of these actions without you ever being asked for approval, but you will quickly realize just how many things the client is doing on your behalf when Amber is asking you to approve them each time.

Now, this can also get quite annoying after a while. I recommend using the setting that allows Amber to automatically sign for basic functions, which will cut down on some of the authorization spam. Once you have been asked to authorize the same type of action a few times, you can also toggle the option to automatically authorize that action in the future. Don't worry, though, you have full control to require Amber to ask you for permission again if you want to be alerted each time, and this toggle is specific to each application, so it's not a blanket approval for all Nostr clients you connect with.

This method of signing is just as fast as signing via browser extension on web clients, which users may be more accustomed to. Everything is happening locally on the device, so it can be very snappy and secure.

Nostr Connect/Bunker Signing

This next method of signing has a bit of a delay, because it is using a Nostr relay to send encrypted information back and forth between the app the user is interacting with and Amber to obtain signatures remotely. It isn't a significant delay most of the time, but it is just enough to be noticeable.

Also, unlike the previous signing method that would automatically switch to Amber as the active application when a signing request is sent, this method only sends you a notification that you must be watching for. This can lead to situations where you are wondering why something isn't working in a client you signed into remotely, because it is waiting on you to authorize the action and you didn't notice the notification from Amber. As you use the application, you get used to the need to check for such authorization requests from time to time, or when something isn't working as expected.

By default, Amber will use relay.nsec.app to communicate with whichever Nostr app you are connecting to. You can set a different relay for this purpose, if you like, though not just any relay will support the event kinds that Amber uses for remote signing. You can even run your own relay just for your own signing purposes. In fact, the creator of Amber has a relay application you can run on your phone, called Citrine, that can be used for signing with any web app you are using locally on your phone. This is definitely more of an advanced option, but it is there for you if you want it. For most users, sticking with relay.nsec.app will be just fine, especially since the contents of the events sent back and forth for signing are all encrypted.

Something many users may not realize is that this remote signing feature allows for issuing signing permissions to team members. For instance, if anyone ever joined me in writing reviews, I could issue them a connection string from Amber, and limit their permissions to just posting long-form draft events. Anything else they tried to do would require my explicit approval each time. Moreover, I could revoke those permissions if I ever felt they were being abused, without the need to start over with a whole new npub. Of course, this requires that your phone is online whenever a team member is trying to sign using the connection string you issued, and it requires you pay attention to your notifications so you can approve or reject requests you have not set to auto-approve. However, this is probably only useful for small teams, and larger businesses will want to find a more robust solution for managing access to their npub, such as Keycast from JeffG (npub1zuu…c2uc).

The method for establishing a connection between Amber and a Nostr app for remote signing can vary for each app. Most, at minimum, will support obtaining a connection string from Amber that starts with "bunker://" and pasting it in at the time of login. Then you just need to approve the connection request from Amber and the client will log you in and send any subsequent signing requests to Amber using the same connection string.

Some clients will also offer the option to scan a QR code to connect the client to Amber. This is quite convenient, but just remember that this also means the client is setting which relay will be used for communication between the two. Clients with this option will also have a connection string you can copy and paste into Amber to achieve the same purpose. For instance, you may need this option if you are trying to connect to an app on your phone and therefore can't scan the QR code using Amber on the same phone.

Multiple Accounts

Amber does not lock you into using it with only a single set of keys. You can add all of your Nostr "accounts" to Amber and use it for signing events for each independently. Of course, Nostr doesn't actually have "accounts" in the traditional sense. Your identity is simply your key-pair, and Amber stores and accesses each private key as needed.

When first signing in using native Android signing as described above, Amber will default to whichever account was most recently selected, but you can switch to the account that is needed before approving the request. After initial login, Amber will automatically detect the account that the signing request is for.

Key Backup & Restore

Amber allows multiple ways to back up your private key. As most users would expect, you can get your standard nsec and copy/paste it to a password manager, but you can also obtain your private key as a list of mnemonic seed words, an encrypted version of your key called an ncryptsec, or even a QR code of your nsec or ncryptsec.

Additionally, in order to gain access to this information, Amber requires you to enter your device's PIN or use biometric authentication. This isn't cold-storage level protection for your private key by any means, especially since your phone is an internet connected device and does not store your key within a secure element, but it is about as secure as you can ask for while having your key accessible for signing Nostr events.

Tor Support

While Amber does not have Tor support within the app itself, it does support connecting to Tor through Orbot. This would be used with remote signing so that Amber would not connect directly over clearnet to the relay used for communication with the Nostr app requesting the signature. Instead, Amber would connect through Tor, so the relay would not see your IP address. This means you can utilize the remote signing option without compromising your anonymity.

Additional Security

Amber allows the user the option to require either biometric or PIN authentication before approving signing requests. This can provide that extra bit of assurance that no one will be able to sign events using your private key if they happen to gain access to your phone. The PIN you set in Amber is also independent from the PIN to unlock your device, allowing for separation of access.

Can My Grandma Use It?

At the end of the day, Amber is a tool for those who have some concept of the importance of protecting their private key by not pasting it into every Nostr client that comes along. This concept in itself is not terribly approachable to an average person. They are used to just plugging their password into every service they use, and even worse, they usually have the same password for everything so they can more readily remember it. The idea that they should never enter their "Nostr password" into any Nostr application would never occur to them unless someone first explained how cryptography works related to public/private key pairs.

That said, I think there can be some improvements made to how users are introduced to these concepts, and that a signer application like Amber might be ideal for the job. Considering Amber as a new user's first touch-point with Nostr, I think it holds up well, but could be somewhat streamlined.

Upon opening the app, the user is prompted to either use their existing private key or "Create a new Nostr account." This is straightforward enough. "Account" is not a technically correct term with Nostr, but it is a term that new users would be familiar with and understand the basic concept.

The next screen announces that the account is ready, and presents the user with their public key, explaining that it is "a sort of username" that will allow others to find them on Nostr. While it is good to explain this to the user, it is unnecessary information at this point. This screen also prompts the user to set a nickname and set a password to encrypt their private key. Since the backup options also allow the user to set this password, I think this step could be pushed to a later time. This screen would better serve the new user if it simply prompted them to set a nickname and short bio that could be saved to a few default relays.

Of course, Amber is currently prompting for a password to be set up-front because the next screen requires the new user to download a "backup kit" in order to continue. While I do believe it is a good idea to encourage the creation of a backup, it is not crucial to do so immediately upon creation of a new npub that has nothing at stake if the private key is lost. This is something the UI could remind the user to do at a later time, reducing the friction of profile creation, and expediting getting them into the action.

Outside of these minor onboarding friction points, I think Amber does a great job of explaining to the user the purpose of each of its features, all within the app and without any need to reference external documentation. As long as the user understands the basic concept that their private key is being stored by Amber in order to sign requests from other Nostr apps, so they don't have to be given the private key, Amber is very good about explaining the rest without getting too far into the technical weeds.

The most glaring usability issue with Amber is that it isn't available in the Play Store. Average users expect to be able to find applications they can trust in their mobile device's default app store. There is a valid argument to be made that they are incorrect in this assumption, but that doesn't change the fact that this is the assumption most people make. They believe that applications in the Play Store are "safe" and that anything they can't install through the Play Store is suspect. The prompts that the Android operating system requires the user to approve when installing "unknown apps" certainly doesn't help with this impression.

Now, I absolutely love the Zapstore from franzap (npub1wf4…dgh9), but it doesn't do much to alleviate this issue. Users will still need to be convinced that it is safe to install the Zapstore from the GitHub repo, and then install Amber from there. Furthermore, this adds yet another step to the onboarding process.

An application as important as Amber for protecting users' private keys should be as readily available to the new user as possible. New users are the ones most prone to making mistakes that could compromise their private keys. Amber should be available to them in the Play Store.

UPDATE: As of version 3.2.8 released on 4/21/2025, the onboarding flow for Amber has been greatly improved! Now, when selecting to set up a new "account" the user is informed on the very next screen, "Your Nostr account is ready!" and given their public key/npub. The only field the user must fill in is their "nickname"/display name and hit "Continue."

From there the user is asked if they want Amber to automatically approve basic actions, or manually approve each app, and then they are shown a new Applications screen, with a prompt to create a backup of their account. This prompt persists until the user has done so.

As you can see, the user is also encouraged to find applications that can be used with Amber with links to nostrapps.com and the Zapstore.

Thanks to these updates, Amber is now the smoothest and most user-friendly onboarding experience I have seen for Nostr to date. Sure, it doesn't have anything for setting up a profile picture or lightning address, but that is better done in a client like Amethyst or YakiHonne, anyway. Just tap "create," type in a handle to call yourself, and you're done!

How do UI Look?

Score: 4.5 / 5

Amber's UI can be described as clean but utilitarian. But then, Amber is a tool, so this is somewhat expected. It is not an app you will be spending a lot of time in, so the UI just needs to be serviceable. I would say it accomplishes this and then some. UI elements are generally easy to understand what they do, and page headings fill in the gaps where that is not the case.

I am not the biggest fan of the color-scheme, particularly in light-mode, but it is not bad in dark-mode at all, and Amber follows whatever theme you have set for your device in that respect. Additionally, the color choice does make sense given the application's name.

It must also be taken into consideration that Amber is almost entirely the product of a single developer's work. He has done a great job producing an app that is not only useful, but pleasant to interact with. The same cannot be said for most utility apps I have previously used, with interfaces that clearly made good design the lowest priority. While Amber's UI may not be the most beautiful Nostr app I have seen, design was clearly not an afterthought, either, and it is appreciated.

Relay Management

Score: 4.9 / 5

Even though Amber is not a Nostr client, where users can browse notes from their favorite npubs, it still relies heavily on relays for some of its features. Primarily, it uses relays for communicating with other Nostr apps for remote signing requests. However, it also uses relays to fetch profile data, so that each private key you add to Amber will automatically load your chosen username and profile picture.

In the relay settings, users can choose which relays are being used to fetch profile data, and which relays will be used by default when creating new remote signing connection strings.

The user can also see which relays are currently connected to Amber and even look at the information that has been passed back and forth on each of those active relays. This information about actively connected relays is not only available within the application, but also in the notification that Amber has to keep in your device's notification tray in order to continue to operate in the background while you are using other apps.

Optionality is the name of the game when it comes to how Amber handles relay selection. The user can just stick with the default signing relay, use their own relay as the default, or even use a different relay for each Nostr application that they connect to for remote signing. Amber gives the user an incredible amount of flexibility in this regard.

In addition to all of this, because not all relays accept the event types needed for remote signing, when you add a relay address to Amber, it automatically tests that relay to see if it will work. This alone can be a massive time saver, so users aren't trying to use relays that don't support remote signing and wondering why they can't log into noStrudel with the connection string they got from Amber.

The only way I could see relay management being improved would be some means of giving the user relay recommendations, in case they want to use a relay other than relay.nsec.app, but they aren't sure which other relays will accept remote signing events. That said, most users who want to use a different relay for signing remote events will likely be using their own, in which case recommendations aren't needed.

Current Users' Questions

The AskNostr hashtag can be a good indication of the pain points that other users are currently having with any Nostr application. Here are some of the most common questions submitted about Amber in the last two months.

This is a good example of Amber working correctly, but the app the user is trying to log into not working. In my experience with #Olas in particular, it sometimes allows remote signer login, and sometimes doesn't. Amber will receive the signing request and I will approve it, but Olas remains on the login screen.

If Amber is receiving the signing requests, and you are approving them, the fault is likely with the application you are trying to log into.

That's it. That's all the repeated questions I could find. Oh, there were a few one-off questions where relay.nsec.app wouldn't connect, or where the user's out-of-date web browser was the issue. Outside of that, though, there were no common questions about how to use Amber, and that is a testament to Amber's ease of use all on its own.

Wrap Up

If you are on Android and you are not already using Amber to protect your nsec, please do yourself a favor and get it installed. It's not at all complicated to set up, and it will make trying out all the latest Nostr clients a safe and pleasant experience.

If you are a client developer and you have not added support for NIP-55 or NIP-46, do your users the courtesy of respecting the sanctity of their private keys. Even developers who have no intention of compromising their users' keys can inadvertently do so. Make that eventuality impossible by adding support for NIP-55 and NIP-46 signing.

Finally, I apologize for the extended time it took me to get this review finished. The time I have available is scarce, Nostr is distracting, and greenart7c3 (npub1w4u…0jr5) kept improving Amber even as I was putting it through its paces over the last two months. Keep shipping, my friend! You have made one of the most useful tools we have seen for Nostr to date!

It's been barely two years since I joined Nostr on my main npub, Dikaios1517 (npub1kun…3lhe), and in just that relatively short time, the amount of development on top of this protocol has been staggering. When jack (npub1sg6…f63m) first opened the floodgates of adoption by tweeting about Nostr, it felt like most of the available clients were barely serviceable and held together with a prayer and copious amounts of duct tape. Of course, it can sometimes still feel that way, but there are definitely some Nostr apps looking and feeling more polished and providing true innovation when compared with legacy social platforms. Indeed, there are a growing number of Nostr-based applications and tools that have very little to do with social media at all.

One thing we have not had available to the growing Nostr community, and those considering joining it, is a source for application reviews that is thorough, approachable, knowledgeable, and balanced. This is what I hope to begin to provide through this new npub dedicated to reviewing as many of the Nostr clients, apps, and tools as I possibly can, so you the reader can determine which ones will fit your needs, and perhaps help you find new ones you had never heard about.

One of the best parts about Nostr is the portability of your identity and social graph, allowing users to log into any Nostr-based application with their same "account" without some centralized tech giant like Google or Apple owning who you are and all of your data. Leverage this super-power of Nostr with me as we explore the best applications and tools the intrepid developers building on this platform have cooked up.

What will you review?

My choice of applications to review will be based on a few factors.

First, I will only be reviewing applications that have a production release, or are otherwise considered production ready by the developer. jb55 (npub1xts…kk5s), you won't have to worry that I will be putting NoteDeck under the microscope while it is still very much in alpha. All of us who love to try the new clients as soon as they are available understand well enough that there will be plenty of bugs, UI quirks, and rough edges to look past.

Second, I will generally be reviewing applications that are meant to be user-facing for the average person. That is, apps that your normie friends might soon be using, and then asking you why they can't edit anything they post. I will not be doing reviews of various relay implementations, for instance, unless they are designed to be approachable to the average user to install and manage. cloud fodder (npub10np…tl5h), your project might just be a notable exception.

Third, my reviews will be limited by the operating systems I have available to me at the time. Sorry folks over on iOS, Mac, and Windows. I will only be able to review apps I can run on Android, Linux, or my web browser for the time being.

How will the apps be rated?

I want to be thorough in my reviews, and yet avoid overloading my readers with information they don't care about. In order to attempt to achieve this, I will break my reviews into several sections, so readers can skip to the sections relevant to their interests.

First, I will provide a basic overview of the type of application I am reviewing, what it is trying to achieve, and why a user might want to try it out.

Next, I will give my overall impression of the application. The good, the bad, and the ugly, as it were, so that those who just want a brief rundown can get the TLDR right out the gate and be on their way.

Then we will begin diving into the nitty-gritty with an in depth look at the main features of the application. What it does well. What features seem lacking. What expected features are absent. What features make it unique and set it apart from other applications with a similar purpose.

For the sake of all the baby Nostriches out there, the next section will be an assessment of how approachable the application would likely be to a normie who is coming to Nostr with no idea what a public and private key are, what relays are, or why they might want to start interacting here instead of on a legacy equivalent. What would someone used to Twitter think of #Snort? What would someone used to Spotify think of #Fountain or #Wavlake?

The next section will be a review of the application's UI. The design and polish. How easy it is to find the things you want in the areas you would expect them. In short, how well the application achieves the goal of making the user feel at home and want to continue using the app just through quality UI design.

If you know me and my contstant harping on developers to include various forms of external signing, it should be no surprise to you that the next section will cover login options. What does the sign-in and sign-up flow look like, and does the user have to expose their private key to the application in order to use it?

A review of virtually any Nostr application would be incomplete without a section dedicated to zap integration. How prominent is zapping in the app? How easy is it to zap or start receiving zaps? Are zaps displayed in a way that encourages users to compete to be top zapper? Is Nostr Wallet Connect supported for using external wallets for one-tap-zapping?

Most Nostr applications, even "other stuff" clients, are designed to present some form of content to the user. The next section will cover how easy it is for the user to find the type of content they may be interested in, or to discover content they didn't know they might be interested in. For social clients, how easy is it to discover other users that they might want to follow?

The backbone of the protocol is the interplay between clients and relays, and the next section of the review will cover how the app manages relays. Are they hidden from the user? Are there sensible defaults? Can users who want to do so select the relays they prefer? Does the app respect relays the user has selected in other apps, or are the app's relays independent of those selected in other apps. Worse, does the app overwrite your selected relays with its defaults?

→ Their lifestyle supported their diet: They moved constantly and had high sun exposure.

→ There was no year-round abundance: Food availability changed with the seasons, and so did their metabolism.

The problem? We’re eating for winter year round

Fast forward to the modern world.

In his book, 'Don’t Eat for Winter', Cian Foley tells us "We eat like it’s winter all year long, high-carb, high-fat, ultra-processed, and completely disconnected from nature’s cues."

This has lead us to a metabolic mismatch:

→ We eat high-carb diets but stay indoors under artificial light, disrupting our ability to process them efficiently.

→ We consume food that isn’t seasonal or local, removing natural metabolic cycles.

→ We pair carbs with inactivity, leading to insulin resistance, fat gain, and metabolic dysfunction.

Carbs aren’t the problem.

Why does sunlight increases carbohydrate tolerance?

Sunlight improves insulin sensitivity, glucose metabolism, and mitochondrial efficiency, helping your body process carbs more effectively.

→ Activates the POMC-leptin-melanocortin pathway, that flip the switch in your body to burn fat more efficiently and respond better to insulin.

→ Releases Nitric oxide, which increases glucose uptake in muscles & reduces fat storage.

→ High UV exposure upregulates genes for glucose metabolism, making carbs easier to process in summer.

→ Mitochondrial efficiency improves with sunlight, allowing for better glucose usage and lower oxidative stress.

In short, if you get plenty of sunlight, your body can tolerate more carbohydrates (whole).

If you’re in a low-light environment e.g., winter, northern latitudes, or indoors all day, your tolerance decreases, and a lower-carb, higher-fat diet may be more suitable.

How to eat carbs in sync with your environment

→ Align carb intake with your sunlight exposure: If you’re in a high-UV environment, your body is primed to handle more carbohydrates. In darker seasons, focus more on protein and fat.

→ Eat seasonally and locally: Summer fruits in the summer, root vegetables in colder months. Let nature dictate your intake.

→ Pair carbs with movement: Don’t consume high-carb meals if you’re sedentary. Use movement to enhance glucose uptake and metabolic flexibility but not as a punishment.

It should be said, if you have metabolic syndrome issues cutting carbs can be useful tool until it has been fixed.

You will thrive when you're connected to nature, not fighting against it.

Carbs are not the enemy, modern environments are.

It’s not about eliminating carbs but eating them correctly, in sync with light, seasonality, and movement.

Im November 1988 wurde die Auslieferung der sowjetischen Zeitschrift “Sputnik” in der DDR gestoppt, was einem Verbot gleichkam. Der Anlaß waren kritische Betrachtungen über Stalin und Berichte über den Hitler-Stalin-Pakt, den es laut DDR-Geschichtsschreibung nicht gab. Es war eine Zensur von Informationen aus dem Land des “großen Bruders”, der Führungsmacht der sozialistischen Welt. Das Diktum “von der Sowjetunion lernen heißt siegen lernen” galt erkennbar nicht mehr. Das war zugleich der Höhepunkt einer ideologischen Entfremdung die 1986 begonnen hatte, als Gorbatschow “Glasnost” (Offenheit) und “Perestroika” (Reformen) einforderte, welche von der vergreisten DDR-Führung als unnötig und gefährlich abgelehnt wurden. Gorbatschow hatte richtig erkannt, dass die sozialistischen Staaten ökonomisch und gesellschaftlich gescheitert waren und ohne Reformen nicht überleben würden. Die Einsicht kam aber zu spät, die DDR kollabierte bereits ein Jahr später an ihrem Reformstau, die UdSSR Ende 1991 trotz der begonnenen Reformversuche.

Die Parallelen sind unverkennbar, eklatante politische Fehler (u.a. Euro seit 2009 und Migration seit 2015) haben die EU-Staaten zunächst zu Sanierungsfällen gemacht, durch die Corona-Politik zu Insolvenzkandidaten. Der Rubikon ist längst überschritten, die Schönwetter-Union ist nicht mehr zu retten. Den Amerikanern ist das klar, daher sind die Reform-Appelle von Vance wohl eher seiner Höflichkeit zuzurechnen. Für die US-Regierung ist die EU bereits jetzt nicht mehr existent, Verträge werden wieder direkt mit den Mitglieds-Staaten getroffen, und in den Ukraine-Verhandlungen ist kein Platz am Verhandlungstisch. Die Themenbereiche bei den Gesprächen in Riad haben aber auch gezeigt, dass Amerikaner und Russen in global-strategischen Dimensionen denken, die Ukraine ist zurecht nur ein Randthema. Die aktuelle Rhetorik europäischer Politiker hingegen ist niveaulos und kleinkariert, man spielt in der 2. Liga, die EU hat sich selbst vom Akteur zum Objekt degradiert.

Was bedeutet das für unsere Zukunft? Und was ist von der neuen US-Führung zu erwarten? Die unsäglichen Diskussionen darüber ob nun Trump und Musk gut oder böse sind, vernebelt nur eine klare Tatsache. Die EU hat keinen Rückhalt mehr vom “großen Bruder”, weder durch die NATO in Sachen Ukraine, noch durch Zensur von Systemkritikern (USAID, BigTech). Letzteres führt zu drei fundamentalen Veränderungen.\ \ 1. Das Narrativ von den “westlichen Werten” ist tot. Auf diesem Axiom der USA basierte die gesamte Propaganda-Maschine, es wurde zur Religion. Nun versuchen gerade Provinzpolitiker wie Pistorius und Habeck mit beschränkten rhetorischen Mitteln zu definieren was “westliche Werte” ohne die USA sind, was mehr für Begeisterung bei Satirikern beiträgt als zur Überzeugung von Tagesschau-Anhängern.\ \ 2. Die Deutungshoheit geht verloren weil immer mehr Publizisten ihr Fähnchen in den sich drehenden Wind hängen, sofern sie noch von Leser-Abos und Werbekunden abhängig sind. Die einsetzende Kakophonie verwirrt die Masse der schlichten Medien-Konsumenten, die über Jahrzehnte auf Nachrichten-Konformität dressiert worden sind. \ \ 3. Weniger Zensur in den sozialen Medien verschafft den kritischen Stimmen mehr Reichweite, “bedrohliche” Meinungsvielfalt entsteht. Leider können die meisten Kritiker aber nur kritisieren, was uns zurück in die Zeiten des Sputnik-Verbots führt.

Die DDR-Opposition hat beim Abriss der DDR mitgewirkt, über diese Rolle ist sie aber nie hinaus gekommen. Als die Mauer gefallen war und es um die Neugestaltung ging, hat sie kläglich versagt. Dem Großteil der heutigen Opposition droht das selbe Schicksal, weil sie keinen Plan für die Stunde Null hat. Bei Tauwetter darf man nicht mehr über den Winter diskutieren, sondern über das Bestellen der Felder. Wer die Saat ausbringt, entscheidet über die Ernte. Den Kollaps betreffend ist nur noch der Zeitpunkt unklar, für den Zeitraum danach jedoch alles. The big news is that White Noise is no longer just a demo. It's a real app. You can download the alpha release and run it for yourself on MacOS, Linux, or Android. iOS TestFlight is coming soon. Keep in mind that it's still very much alpha software; a lot is changing and I wouldn't recommend using it for anything serious quite yet.

Vision

Before we get to the detailed project updates, I wanted to share a bit of my vision for White Noise.

More and more; freedom of speech, freedom of association, and privacy are under attack. Just this week, Apple was forced to remove their iCloud advanced encryption feature for all UK citizens because the UK government demanded that Apple build a backdoor to allow access to customer data. The EU continues to push "Chat Control" legislation that would force companies to remove end-to-end encryption from their platforms. And governments across the world are enforcing draconian "hate speech" laws that criminalize speech that offends or upsets.

The freedom to express ourselves and discuss difficult topics is a critical precondition for maintaining a healthy society. Without the ability to assert ideas and argue their merits vigorously we have no way of making progress or creating a civil society based on shared values and goals. Ironically, the very laws and regulations that many western governments are enforcing to "protect" us are eroding and destroying the most free and innovative societies in history.

White Noise is to built to protect our freedom to gather, to express ourselves, and to discuss difficult topics. It's free and open source; anyone can fork the code and we'll never charge money to use it. It runs on a free and open source protocol; your identity and social graph is yours to own and control. You don't have to trust us with your data, everything is end-to-end encrypted and metadata is next to non-existent. We don't even run any servers, so government data requests will forever fall on deaf ears.

We want to build the fastest, most secure and private, and the most usable messenger in the world. Whether you want to use it to plan a family BBQ or overthrow a tyrant, White Noise should give you the tools you need to make it happen.

Alright, let's talk about where we're at with the project.

Current functionality

Multiple accounts. You can login, or create, many different Nostr accounts in the app.

Search your nostr contact list, search for users you don't follow, or add contacts using an npub or hex public key.

Create DM groups. Right now, you can only create chats with a single other user. Under the hood, these DMs are actually groups, I just haven't added the UI for adding/removing users and managing the group.

Send messages, reply to messages, and add reactions. As you would expect from a messenging app.

View group information.

Settings that allows you to manage your accounts, relays, and other app settings.

Upcoming

An amazing hackathon group from Bitcoin++ in Brasil has recently added NWC (nostr wallet connect) support to the app. Paste lightning invoices into chats and they'll become QR codes that you can scan or pay them with a single click in the conversation! This will be in the next release.

Add support for encrypted media in chats using Blossom. We'll start with images, but plan to add video, audio messages, and documents soon.

Groups with more than two users. We'll add the ability to add/remove users and manage the group. This will also include some upgrades to further improve the forward secrecy of group chats.

iOS TestFlight. Gated app stores suck. We'll get White Noise on iOS into TestFlight as soon as possible.

Moving self-hosting beyond servers

Recently, self-hosting has been getting more popular. It promises independence of centralized cloud providers, and is giving control back to users. So far, there have been many issues with self-hosting that made many existing solutions impractical to use in practice, or at least significantly diminished the benefits. Self-hosting should be as simple as using cloud providers, but in a sovereign manner. That is why we are building Nirvati. In this post, I want to explain some of the conceptual drawbacks in currently available solutions, such as CasaOS, umbrelOS or startOS; and try to explain how we are building a better platform. Nirvati’s benefits are not just at the software level, but extend to the underlying concepts and ideas. This is why we can’t easily improve an existing software, but decided to build one from scratch.

Who owns your server?

Right now, many popular software projects that facilitate self-hosting are not really open source. While startOS is a notable exception, other solutions, such as umbrelOS or CasaOS claim to be “open”, but delay code releases, or don’t really have an open source license that allows any modifications. This considerably takes away control of “your” server. If you depend on a company to sustain the development of a software, that company could make arbitrary decisions (removing apps via an update, charging a fee for updates, take away download servers, ...) which could significantly impact what you can do with “your” server. Nirvati fixes this by using a Copyleft license. That basically means that you as a user can do anything you’d like with the code. There is just one exception: If you share (or sell) software based on our code with your modifications, you need to grant the same rights to your users we granted you. This ensures that even if a company decides to build a hosting solution or an alternative software on top, their version stays completely open, and we can merge back improvements. As part of the commercial backing, many systems hide support for 3rd party apps, or don’t support them at all, which makes you depend on another service with no easy way to opt out. In contrast, Nirvati allows you to add 3rd party app stores right into the main apps list, not a separate, hidden menu.

Bitcoin is no longer legal tender, anyone claiming the contrary is at best misinformed. I've attached what the actual law changes are so you can read for yourself that the language was changed, removing all references as bitcoin as money or legal tender, plus the actual conditions, such as the govt accepting bitcoin for things such as taxes, are now prohibited. Yes, money is fungible but the IMF isn't evil because they are dumb. They set the terms and it is at their sole discretion if the sprit of those conditions are being met. This isn't my opinion this is literally how every IMF loan has been structured for decades. Read a book. I'm so tired of seeing this cope. What about the one bitcoin per day program? I don't know. The language of the draft agreement doesn't seem to prohibit the continuation of that program and therefore I would have presumed that it would continue. That said, the fact they have been skipping days for the first time ever and with zero explanation makes me wonder. Die Kernaussagen basieren auf einem Modell der Werteebenen (Spiral Dynamics), das zwar interessante psychologische und soziologische Einsichten bietet, aber aus meiner Sicht stark vereinfachend und normativ wirkt.

Es wird hier unterstellt, dass Gesellschaften und Individuen sich linear auf bestimmten "Werteebenen" entwickeln, wobei die Ebenen hierarchisch strukturiert erscheinen.

Dies widerspricht (m)einer libertären Sichtweise, die Vielfalt und individuelle Selbstbestimmung als Grundprinzipien der Freiheit betrachtet, anstatt gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen in Kategorien zu zwingen.

Das Model zeigt zwar interessante Differenzierungen auf, ist jedoch aus libertärer Sicht zu kollektivistisch und zentralistisch geprägt und genau da sind aud meiner Sicht die Ursachen der aktuellen Demokratie-Krise zu sehen.

Ein dezentralisierter, individueller Ansatz, der auf Freiwilligkeit und Marktmechanismen basiert, wird nicht berücksichtigt, obwohl er eine zunehmend tragfähige Alternative zu den beschriebenen Wertesystemen darstellt.

Viele der beschriebenen Herausforderungen (z. B. Umweltprobleme, soziale Konflikte) können durch den Rückzug des Staates und die Einführung (wirklich) freier Märkte und privater Vereinbarungen besser gelöst werden - hierbei stellen die deutschen, staatlichen "Privatisierungen" z.B. im Bereich Gesundheit oder der Bahn eben keine wirklich freie Märkte her, sondern im Gegenteil konzern-staatliche Oligopole.

Gesellschaften sollten nicht danach beurteilt werden, auf welcher "Werteebene" sie sich befinden, sondern ob sie die Freiheit des Individuums respektieren und fördern.

Anstatt Werteebenen als evolutionäre Stadien zu betrachten, sollte der Fokus auf der freiwilligen Kooperation zwischen Individuen liegen, unabhängig von deren Weltbildern.

However, by sidestepping the issue, these interpretations may be missing a crucial piece of the puzzle. If consciousness is indeed fundamental to the collapse of the wavefunction, as proponents of the CCP suggest, then any interpretation that ignores consciousness is inherently incomplete.

The Case for Addressing Consciousness in Quantum Mechanics

The reluctance of many scientists to engage with the hard problem is understandable, given the difficulty of the question and the lack of empirical evidence. However, this avoidance may be preventing us from making significant progress in understanding the true nature of reality.

I believe that the hard problem of consciousness represents a fundamental gap in our understanding of the universe - one that cannot be ignored if we are to develop a complete theory of quantum mechanics. While alternative interpretations like the GRW theory and the Many Worlds Interpretation offer solutions to the technical problems of quantum mechanics, they do so by avoiding the deeper question of consciousness. This approach, while pragmatic, may ultimately prove to be a dead end if consciousness is indeed integral to the behaviour of quantum systems.

Addressing the hard problem of consciousness in the context of quantum mechanics requires a willingness to think beyond the current boundaries of science and to explore new theoretical frameworks that integrate consciousness into our understanding of the physical world. This may involve revisiting ideas like the Consciousness Collapse Proposal or developing entirely new theories that link consciousness with quantum phenomena in ways that we have not yet imagined.

At the same time, it is important to approach this question with a critical and balanced perspective. In Summary, I believe that the hard problem of consciousness is the "elephant in the room" that quantum mechanics needs to address. While traditional interpretations of quantum theory have tried to solve the measurement problem without involving consciousness it might be ignoring a part of reality.

By blending the matter of consciousness into quantum mechanics we could potentially gain a comprehensive view of the universe - one that appreciates both the enigmatic nature of subjective experiences and the elegant mathematics of some quantum mechanics theories. Even though this viewpoint is speculative and needs investigation it presents a glimpse into a future where consciousness and quantum mechanics are seen as interconnected elements of existence.

This, truly, is a crazy tale.

Political extremists taking over a successful Open Source project -- from the inside -- and imposing wild, discriminatory, political policies. The speech that I could not deliver because German police burst into our Berlin venue to disband our Palestine Congress (1930s style). Judge for yourselves the kind of society Germany is becoming when its police bans the following words:

Friends,

Congratulations, and heartfelt thanks, for being here, despite the threats, despite the ironclad police outside this venue, despite the panoply of the German press, despite the German state, despite the German political system that demonises you for being here.

“Why a Palestinian Congress, Mr Varoufakis?”, a German journalist asked me recently? Because, as Hanan Asrawi once said: “We cannot rely on the silenced to tell us about their suffering.”

Today, Asrawi’s reason has grown depressingly stronger: Because we cannot rely on the silenced who are also massacred and starved to tell us about the massacres and the starvation.

But there is another reason too: Because a proud, a decent people, the people of Germany, are led down a perilous road to a heartless society by being made to associate themselves with another genocide carried out in their name, with their complicity.

I am neither Jewish nor Palestinian. But I am incredibly proud to be here amongst Jews and Palestinians – to blend my voice for Peace and Universal Human Rights with Jewish Voices for Peace and Universal Human Rights – with Palestinian Voices for Peace and Universal Human Rights. Being together, here, today, is proof that Coexistence is Not Only Possible – but that it is here! Already.

“Why not a Jewish Congress, Mr Varoufakis?”, the same German journalist asked me, imagining that he was being smart. I welcomed his question.

For if a single Jew is threatened, anywhere, just because she or he is Jewish, I shall wear the star of David on my lapel and offer my solidarity - whatever the cost, whatever it takes.

So, let’s be clear: If Jews were under attack, anywhere in the world, I would be the first to canvass for a Jewish Congress in which to register our solidarity.

Similarly, when Palestinians are massacred because they are Palestinians – under a dogma that to be dead they must have been Hamas – I shall wear my keffiyeh and offer my solidarity whatever the cost, whatever it takes.

Universal Human Rights are either universal or they mean nothing.

With this in mind, I answered the German journalist’s question with a few of my own:

· Are 2 million Israeli Jews, who were thrown out of their homes and into an open air prison 80 years ago, still being kept in that open air prison, without access to the outside world, with minimal food and water, no chance of a normal life, of travelling anywhere, and bombed periodically for 80 years? No.
· Are Israeli Jews being starved intentionally by an army of occupation, their children writhing on the floor, screaming from hunger? No.
· Are there thousands of Jewish injured children no surviving parents crawling through the rubble of what used to be their homes? No.
· Are Israeli Jews being bombed by the world’s most sophisticated planes and bombs today? No.
· Are Israeli Jews experiencing complete ecocide of what little land they can still call their own, not one tree left under which to seek shade or whose fruit to taste? No.
· Are Israeli Jewish children killed by snipers today at the orders of a member-state of the UN? No.
· Are Israeli Jews driven out of their homes by armed gangs today? No.
· Is Israel fighting for its existence today? No.

If the answer to any of these questions was yes, I would be participating in a Jewish Solidarity Congress today.

Friends,

Today, we would have loved to have a decent, democratic, mutually-respectful debate on how to bring Peace and Universal Human Rights for everyone, Jews and Palestinians, Bedouins and Christians, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea with people who think differently to us.

Sadly, the whole of the German political system has decided not to allow this. In a joint statement including not just the CDU-CSU or the FDP but also the SPD, the Greens and, remarkably, two leaders of Die Linke, joined forces to ensure that such a civilised debate, in which we may disagree agreeably, never takes place in Germany.

I say to them: You want to silence us. To ban us. To demonise us. To accuse us. You, therefore, leave us with no choice but to meet your accusations with our accusations. You chose this. Not us.

· You accuse us of anti-Semitic hatred
o We accuse you of being the antisemite’s best friend by equating the right of Israel to commit war crimes with the right of Israeli Jews to defend themselves.

· You accuse us of supporting terrorism
o We accuse you of equating legitimate resistance to an Apartheid State with atrocities against civilians which I have always and will always condemn, whomever commits them – Palestinians, Jewish Settlers, my own family, whomever.
o We accuse you of not recognising the duty of the people of Gaza to tear down the Wall of the open prison they have been encased in for 80 years – and of equating this act of tearing down the Wall of Shame – which is no more defensible than the Berlin Wall was – with acts of terror.

· You accuse us of trivialising Hamas’ October 7th terror
o We accuse you of trivialising the 80 years of Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the erection of an ironclad Apartheid system across Israel-Palestine.
o We accuse you of trivialising Netanyahu’s long-term support of Hamas as a means of destroying the 2-State Solution that you claim to favour.
o We accuse you of trivialising the unprecedented terror unleashed by the Israeli army on the people of Gaza, W. Bank and E. Jerusalem.

· You accuse the organisers of today’s Congress that we are, and I quote, “not interested in talking about possibilities for peaceful coexistence in the Middle East against the background of the war in Gaza”. Are you serious? Have you lost your mind?
o We accuse you of supporting a German state that is, after the United States, the largest supplier of the weapons that the Netanyahu government uses to massacre Palestinians as part of a Grand Plan to make a 2-State solution, and peaceful coexistence between Jews and Palestinians, impossible.
o We accuse you of never answering the pertinent question that every German must answer: How much Palestinian blood must flow before your, justified, guilt over the Holocaust is washed away?

So, let’ s be clear: We are here, in Berlin, with our Palestinian Congress because, unlike the German political system and the German media, we condemn genocide and war crimes regardless of who is perpetrating them. Because we oppose Apartheid in the land of Israel-Palestine no matter who has the upper hand – just as we opposed Apartheid in the American South or in South Africa. Because we stand for universal human rights, freedom and equality among Jews, Palestinians, Bedouins and Christians in the Ancient Land of Palestine.

And so that we are even clearer on the questions, legitimate and malignant, that we must always be ready to answer:

Do I condemn Hamas’ atrocities?

I condemn every single atrocity, whomever is the perpetrator or the victim. What I do notcondemn is armed resistance to an Apartheid system designed as part of a slow-burning, but inexorable, ethnic cleansing program. Put differently, I condemn every attack on civilians while, at the same time, I celebrate anyone who risks their life to TEAR DOWN THE WALL.

Is Israel not engaged in a war for its very existence?

No, it is not. Israel is a nuclear-armed state with perhaps the most technologically advanced army in the world and the panoply of the US military machine having its back. There is no symmetry with Hamas, a group which can cause serious damage to Israelis but which has no capacity whatsoever to defeat Israel’s military, or even to prevent Israel from continuing to implement the slow genocide of Palestinians under the system of Apartheid that has been erected with long-standing US and EU support.

Are Israelis not justified to fear that Hamas wants to exterminate them?

Of course they are! Jews have suffered a Holocaust that was preceded with pogroms and a deep-seated antisemitism permeating Europe and the Americas for centuries. It is only natural that Israelis live in fear of a new pogrom if the Israeli army folds. However, by imposing Apartheid on their neighbours, by treating them like sub-humans, the Israeli state is stoking the fires of antisemitism, is strengthening Palestinians and Israelis who just want to annihilate each other and, in the end, contributes to the awful insecurity consuming Jews in Israel and the Diaspora. Apartheid against the Palestinians is the Israelis’ worst self-defence.

What about antisemitism?

It is always a clear and present danger. And it must be eradicated, especially amongst the ranks of the Global Left and the Palestinians fighting for Palestinian civil liberties –around the world.

Why don’t Palestinians pursue their objectives by peaceful means?

They did. The PLO recognised Israel and renounced armed struggle. And what did they get for it? Absolute humiliation and systematic ethnic cleansing. That is what nurtured Hamas and elevated it the eyes of many Palestinians as the only alternative to a slow genocide under Israel’s Apartheid.

What should be done now? What might bring Peace to Israel-Palestine?

· An immediate ceasefire.
· The release of all hostages: Hamas’ and the thousands held by Israel.
· A Peace Process, under the UN, supported by a commitment by the International Community to end Apartheid and to safeguard Equal Civil Liberties for All.
· As for what must replace Apartheid, it is up to Israelis and Palestinians to decide between the 2-state solution and the solution of a Single Federal Secular State.

Friends,

We are here because vengeance is a lazy form of grief.

We are here to promote not vengeance but Peace and Coexistence across Israel-Palestine.

We are here to tell German democrats, including our former comrades of Die Linke, that they have covered themselves in shame long enough – that two wrongs do not one right make – that allowing Israel to get away with war crimes is not going to ameliorate the legacy of Germany’s crimes against the Jewish People.

Beyond today’s Congress, we have a duty, in Germany, to change the conversation. We have a duty to persuade the vast majority of decent Germans out there that universal human rights is what matters. That Never Again means Never Again. For anyone, Jew, Palestinian, Ukrainian, Russian, Yemeni, Sudanese, Rwandan – for everyone, everywhere.

In this context, I am pleased to announce that DiEM25’s German political party MERA25 will be on the ballot paper in the European Parliament election this coming June – seeking the vote of German humanists who crave a Member of European Parliament representing Germany and calling out the EU’s complicity in genocide – a complicity that is Europe’s greatest gift to the antisemites in Europe and beyond.

I salute you all and suggest we never forget that none of us are free if one of us is in chains.

It is unclear how Flare prevents Flare itself from deleting your videos, as Nostr’s protocol doesn’t store videos, the relays store messages. Even worse than Nostr’s regular images being on 1 random server with government DNS, Flare centralizes that to a single entity. And even worse than that, Flare has chosen Amazon AWS with Google 3rd party JavaScript on his main website. It’s unclear what the purpose of Flare is, if it’s not to defy Big Tech companies.

There are a few approaches one could take instead. One approach is federation, where users self-host websites. This is how our website works with Nostr signing integration for video comments. This is also how Peertube works. Our website vid.simplifiedprivacy.com is basically Peertube but with Nostr subscriptions/comments.
