They got paid quite a bit to take a min ongoing stream of data we collected, and yeah, they basically organized it. It was frustrating because the details of the contract were such that the data got piped directly to them and the output went directly into their software that we licensed. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;We felt, at the time, like nothing we were getting from them justified the expense so we started looking at alternatives. We hit two roadblocks, 1.) there weren’t alternative companies that offered a complete off the shelf solution for what we wanted (Palantir didn’t either but they finagled something that basically worked) and 2.) we (the government) hadn’t retained all the data we had piped to them over the years and if we chose not to renew the contract they had to give us back the data… but it was in a proprietary format that was useless without their software…&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;We renewed the contract. That was years ago but last time I checked, it’s still in effect.
