Number 6 now has a name: Mackenzie, Mack for short. I took a page from the Henry book and loosely based him on an LMS Black 5, however in universe he’s a modified Comet class. They basically took Matt’s blueprints, cut his speed down in exchange for more pulling power. They added big sandboxes near the smoke box to ensure he always has a steady supply, especially with his heavy loads. Mack’s class is named “Goliath”. #wip

His revisions of Matt’s blueprints created a more robust tender engine that’s specifically built for heavy and express goods work. Decided to have another go at my express engine, Matthew. I'm still daunted at doing his coupling rods cuz he has one of those complex configurations but I'm having a much easier time working on him from the side. I've decided that he'll be a 2-6-2 design rather than a 4-6-2. I know I do very simplified train designs, but I'm actually really proud of how much I'm improving at drawing them. He's more trustworthy with actual trains than Dash, but he's just as excitable so he usually isn't chosen for them unless literally ALL the others are too busy lol. Fun facts: this was actually going to be Dash’s livery and coupling rod configuration. I thought they fit Jaxx better so I reworked Dash.

I know this looks more like a diesel engine but it's actually SLR #8 (a steamie)The last main member of the Starline fleet, at least the first generation of engines. I looked at a tutorial by perhaps one of the best artists in the Thomas space and decided to have a go in drawing trains this way. Jaxx is very similar to Dash in shape, especially after his rebuild, so I have him there as a reference.

He’s the runt of the group, but I plan on pairing him up with another engine, Jaxx, later in the story. They’ll form a dynamic similar to Bill and Ben, if you’re familiar with those characters. Which to be fair, does come across in the key art, but only after I looked into it.
