I think v4vmusic has an issue with keeping the wallet connection alive making autoboosts fail. Usually a reload reconnects the wallet. Something I need to look into

You might want to pick Sir Spencer - Wolf of KC 🐺 (nprofile…85sc) 's brain. He's been able to break free from alby on his blitz node using lnbits (I think)

According to my db at v4vmusic.com approx 95.5% of the music feeds support keysend only.

This will open up a vast opportunity for your wallet users to support their favorite artists.

NWC seems to be the way to go. It's been working great for me using albyhub as a proxy to my node.

If you can ever get the receiving part of keysend that would be great also. Alby has code for it in it's repo (somewhere)

Basically you use a customKey and customValue
The payments go to one node. The customKey and customValue tell you the node runner which "account" the payment belongs to.

I haven't tried it yet but I believe this is also how lnbits does it.

Receiving is a harder problem, so getting sending to work first makes the most sense.

Albyhub and Fountain are the only ones I know that currently work.

I believe you can self host a lightning node without an alby account but I'm not 100% sure also most people are afraid to run their own nodes (for some reason 🙁)

From what I understand coinos will allow sending but not receiving. I'm trying to get in contact with them to see if they can implement it.

It would be super cool to have more wallets support the only non censorable, truly peer to peer protocol that does not rely on 3rd parties such as DNS and supplies rich metadata to the receiver through TLV records. (see: https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/blob/main/docs/examples/value/value.md#tlv-records-and-extensions)

Primal would be an excellent candidate for keysend support.

The carousels on the home page are listener driven. Read their titles, they're self explanatory.

Most Favorited songs/albums/playlists are surprisingly, the most favorited songs/albums/playlists by the listeners.
Similarly the top rated songs are the songs that are top rated by the listeners.

These are all listener driven. The idea is that as more users with differing tastes rate and favorite things then those carousels will have more interesting and better (hopefully) vontent.

User curated playlists are another way that this surfaces. You may notice that some users have a knack for picking great songs to listen to and may want to listen to their playlists. astro_penguin (npub1fxx…lknl) is an excellent example of this.

IDK what a "nostr and contextual web-of-trust" even means or how nostr even comes in to play here.

Good because adamcurry (nprofile…64l4) and Dave (nprofile…t3mu) are excellent stewards of this precious info.

Bad because we kind of have all our eggs in one basket.

The index is undergoing a rewrite of sorts now, and maybe folks like ericpp (nprofile…m9fd) and others can build in some of the decentralization into the index that has been discussed in the boardroom.

At least maybe thinking about the decentralization problem as they are developing the index further.

Zaps use lnAddress which uses a DNS reliant server in the backend to create an invoice on your node's behalf. So invoice are still required for zaps, it's just that they are created for you on the backend.

lnAddress also limits the amount of characters to around 200.

Keysend on the other hand just sends sas directly from node to node with no middleman in between. Even works with Tor.

Also keysend supports the TLV record which gives crucial metadata about the boostagram including allowing for much larger messages.

This is because for the moment my app only supports keysend. Contact your wallet provider and ask them to support the only truly peer to peer lightning protocol that doesn't rely on censorable things like DNS

With that said my app will eventually support zaps as soon as an acceptable solution to the metadata "messages/boostagrams" is solved

For now the only wallet solution is alby, though I hear that coinos has finally implemented keysend support but I haven't tested it yet.

The site is back up and running. Apparently there was a vulnerability in next.js and I got hit.

Fortunately the db wasn't affected.

I was able to redeploy after much battle with the tech demons, but I seem to have prevailed and v4vmusic.com has risen from the ashes. (at least for now) 🙂

This means when you are listening to "Water is Sound" by Jimmy V you can click the TV icon in the player and watch the video version. Click it again and just listen to the audio!

Double click the video to enter full screen mode.

When listening to the audio version you can even watch lyrics update by clicking the weird looking eye icon

Keep clicking that icon to cycle through the lyrics modes. overlay on top of image, karaoke style, and no lyrics
