So a little nut to crack for my #linux bubble: I am running #mintlinux on my external Thunderbolt SSD on the 2013 iMac. Problem is: When I suspend and then resume, the TB SSD does NOT wake up. System hangs -- because there is no root FS anymore!
I already tried iummu=soft and pcie_aspm=off in the grub defaults:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash iommu=soft pcie_aspm=off"

But that does nothing to help. Any other ideas how to wake the sleeping princcess?

Both Commodore and Apple-II users quickly figured out that you could flip the disk around, if you punched a hole into the other side of the disk.

As with some other C64 incarnations there might come out a couple games that require some or all of the extras, but I think that’s not the appeal of the C64 platform. I then poked it into the place where the UNDERLYING issue was, and suggested to take a look at it. And THEN it indeed created a working solution.
Was it quicker than me? Yes, for sure. But could it have done it on its own? No. It needed my input to figure out the underlying reason. And this is the takeaway I think: We CAN use LLMs to speed up coding work, just like I use eglot+clangd to navigate large projects. But it is NOT a magic wand that grants wishes.

I did another LLM experiment. Had an issue at work, we are supposed to use LLMs A LOT. The thing was: my code was working on a graph, that was keeping track of indices into a text buffer. One routine would add new vertices into the graph, but didn't know the index into the buffer. It was a bit tricky to understand. I asked Copilot to see what it would make of it. It identified the rough issue, and suggested a fix. Which didn't work. But the reason was identified correctly!

My new CD Player arrived. My old one from 2001 was skipping a whole LOT on all CDs during the first 10 minutes or so. I suspected a mechanical problem. But the player (Technics SL-PG3) was tricky to disassemble. And it uses a highly integrated drive mechanism. Interesting construction with only one motor as far as I can see that drives both the tray and the pickup, using clever cams and gears!

I pre-configured it to 300 Baud on the C64, but PETTerm 0.5.0 won't work correctly with it. Not sure what is going on. Seems it looses connection after a short while, too.

Also, I wonder if I can hack the 4116.pio test program to also test 4108. It should be as easy as A6 being not connected, and only testing 8192 bits, right?

EDIT: I wonder how the 4116 actually adresses all 16k bits. That would require 14 lines. It has 7, so send first 7, latch, next 7 -> done? And the 4108...?

Gear Worx by Sony for the original GameBoy is a very fascinating puzzle game. The rules are a bit tricky at first, but easy enough. Haven’t figured out what the oil is for yet, but it has a password system, which helps.

I only have Baader Hyperion. They are 68° as well, but much cheaper than the Televue. The latter being true 2“ eye pieces, iirc. It’s a bit sad that nowadays you can’t simply walk to an optics store and try them out.

I am transfering my older rev5 board into the black A500 case, as it has an Agnus 8372A upgrade, and thus 1MB of Chip Mem. The other board only has an 8371 and 512K chip. It will get a brand new white case though.
Also the DF0 switcher will move into the new white case as well, as the black A500 has the ACA500+, which makes the switch useless.
