My friend let her daughter get into this at 10. That poor girl gave up all activities except makeup. As a teen, her worth is based on appearance now. She's a mess. Failing school, on anti-depressants, sullen, spends hours on appearance daily. She has no goals or enthusiasm and looks like crap too.

Total failure to parent.

I said to her mom "You can throw the makeup out. You can say no."
But she and her husband believe kids can do what they want, and this is the result. They ruined her potential.

She's now a very short adult and this could have been helped had she got the needed growth hormone as a kid.
