On Early Marriages.

Sweet young couples. Population growth. Rejuvenation of the nation. More responsible youth.

But at what cost will any nation that tries to promote early marriages receive all this?

Let’s start with the fact that we consider marriages where both partners are under 21 to be early. Jurisprudence disagrees with us. It believes that at 18 a person is already formed and is an adult.
But in practice, especially today, we see a completely different picture. At 18, school graduates most often don’t even know where to go next, don’t know their strengths, and have no goals in life.
Can we really consider them fully formed?

Let’s break down the pillars on which our criticism rests.
1. We let children give birth to children. As already mentioned, 18–19-year-old teenagers still don’t have a clear sense of self, their own views, or plans. They have no principles, no developed stress resistance, and no parenting skills. They don’t know how to speak in a way that people actually listen.
And all of the above are the most basic requirements for a parent who wants to raise a strong personality. So what exactly are they going to teach their child? To turn the other cheek after being slapped? To work hard to get rich and never drink alcohol or do drugs — because “it’s a sin”?
The reason for the absence of these qualities is obvious. Lack of life experience. Lack of time to seriously reflect on such matters.

2. The financial aspect. How many hours does our recent graduate need to work just to feed a family? It’s enough to look up the numbers online and compare them with their own salary. Lack of money means that quality healthcare, education, and useful connections remain out of reach for both the child and the parents themselves. And most importantly — there’s a high risk that after several years spent in a poor environment, the child will develop a poor mindset that will follow them to the grave. The cycle continues?!

3. Lack of attention. Work. Personal growth. Their own projects. When exactly are they supposed to raise the child? In the race for money, career, and everything else, our newlyweds will push the child down to third place in importance.

4. The era of superficial marriages and divorces. Peak energy in both sexes. When a couple of evenings at the cinema can push them toward thoughts of marriage, what conscious and careful approach are we even talking about? Lost young people seek out equally lost partners. No value system has been built, no goals for the marriage have been defined, compatibility hasn’t been studied. The marriage is vulnerable. It’s risky. There’s a high chance of divorce after the first serious fight. And that leads to broken destinies for the children. A broken family is one of the strongest blows to a child’s psyche.

How do parents who are for such marriages justify it? Their dream is to see their son in an expensive suit and throw the biggest, most expensive feast in the history of their town, or their beautiful daughter in a wedding dress that makes everyone “jealous.”
Our light-minded dreamer parents believe that one single argument covers all the weaknesses. It goes like this: “The couple grows together, they become stronger together, they become more and more similar and compatible.” They think their little boy is now a responsible adult ready to lead new offspring. Mission accomplished.
We notice an interesting phenomenon: some marry off their children partly out of fear that in a couple of years no one will choose their daughter or son anymore — because they’ll already be “old” and unwanted.

Our message to such parents is simple: Are you ready for divorce? Have you considered these outcomes?

Every couple that dreams of filling their inner emptiness with marriage at 18 must understand: they are now chained to their job, their city, and their partner (whom they still don’t really know — you haven’t had the time, you haven’t learned how to read people). You can no longer take risks, dream big, think about state politics, or engage in civic activity. There’s a family behind you. This burden will kill all the energy of your youth. And how bitter it will be years later when the children grow up as complete strangers to you.
You will be surprised and fail to understand that while you were busy “surviving” with your little family, the children were receiving their upbringing from movies, random people, teachers, and friends.
It’s a cocktail of their social environment and chance situations.

We advise both sides to imagine these outcomes before planning the wedding.

We hold this view: it is better for the nation to be many times smaller, but stronger. There will be fewer marriages, but they will be stronger. Love will be less about hormones and more about contract and partnership. Young people will spend years searching for themselves — but that is better than saddling them with a deadly burden.

It’s worth remembering: early marriages are the castration of a nation. A people busy with survival, debts, and family will not bother studying a new constitution, fighting for their rights, or being active in civic life. They have something to lose.
