FWIW, I've decided, as a gentile, that it's strategically unwise for me to use it at all for exactly the reasons this thread makes clear. It's historically accurate. It's what a specific group of people call themselves, but it's also been used as an antisemitic slur, so if *I* use it, it makes it that much easier for someone to derail by accusing me of racism. So I'm not giving them that opening.

The earliest alleged Gaiman assault is now 1986, three years before Sandman. He was 25. This is not a problem of power or of a "permission structure," as I thought a few days ago. Given the evidence, I now believe he's a serial sexual assaulter and has been the whole time.
