News: During a debate over a carcinogenic cooking oil scandal involving Central Union Oil Corp, DPP spokesperson Wu Zheng sparked fury by snapping at media commentator Huang Yang-ming: "It's not like I forced you to eat it, why are you yelling at me?"
KMT lawmaker Lo Chih-chiang slammed the Lai administration today, stating that while Wu didn't force anyone, the government did. Accusing the administration of "arrogance cancer," Lo demanded they apologize and step down.

My opinion: Welcome to the anti-China Taiwan. As long as they can use it to hate on China, they don't even care if they're forcing people to eat toxic oil. News: On July 14, a 43-year-old NYCU electrical engineering professor, Lin, stabbed his brother-in-law to death at a music store in Hsinchu. Police shot Lin in the legs to subdue him after he resisted arrest. He is currently hospitalized under guard.
By the next day, NYCU's Department of Electrical Engineering had scrubbed Lin's profile from their official website, sparking online discussions about the university's swift attempt to distance itself from the killer.

My opinion: I graduated from NCTU, which was later renamed NYCU. To be honest, this incident doesn't really have much to do with the university itself. It’s all about money. News: The DPP faced backlash after local politicians ridiculed Taipei City officials for stating that "Bird's-nest ferns (Asplenium antiquum)" found in storm drains during heavy rains likely washed down from upstream.
Two NTU botany and ecology professors publicly debunked the DPP's attacks, explaining that ferns growing or washing into drainage systems is a common natural phenomenon and that their soft leaves bend with the flow, making blockages highly unlikely.

My opinion: This is exactly what I’m talking about. No matter what it is, even if you're 100% right and doing the proper thing, the DPP will weaponize it for political infighting. The DPP itself is a toxic cancer on Taiwan. And this is just what happened today. News: A single father in Taiwan received a 14-day military recall order (educational recall) but had no one to look after his 2-year-old child. When he applied for an exemption, the military cold-blood rejected it, stating his direct relatives living in another county did not meet current regulatory loopholes for exemption.
Lawmaker Huang Chien-pin slammed the military's lack of empathy, demanding updates to outdated rules to fit modern family structures.

My opinion: Just like I said before, Taiwan is currently doing a full-on 'busification' rehearsal. You were right on first paragraph. This is indeed an issue that both parties need to face. But the DPP will block the KMT’s bills, even if they align with justice. Because they are willing to politically manipulate anything as long as they can.

But why the hell are you bringing up the 'China threat theory'?? WTF?? Does that have anything to do with fraud cases? Or are you just trying to hint that the DPP can 'resist China and protect Taiwan'?

Well, since you want to talk about it, I’m not afraid to go there with you. I can only say that everything you wrote is utter nonsense. The reason cross-strait tensions are escalating right now is precisely because the DPP is pushing for Taiwan independence. Before this, during the KMT administration, it wasn't this dangerous. Because the KMT doesn't push for Taiwan independence - it’s just that simple.

We originally had the 1992 Consensus. Its core essence is 'One China, with respective interpretations.' It was signed by our successive presidents, and it aligns with our Taiwanese constitution and various laws. It was only after the DPP came to power that they openly tore up the 1992 Consensus, which led to this series of escalating crises.

But let's skip the history lesson. The 'China threat theory' you mentioned in your text is indeed a reality right now, because the party in power is the pro-independence DPP. Unless the DPP steps down, this threat will not be defused anytime soon.

So, let me address your three 'falsifiable predictions.'
First of all, predictions closer to 50% are useless because things either happen or they don't. Let’s look at the third prediction first.

Do you know that right now, at this very moment, every single day, Chinese warships are sitting just outside the 24-nautical-mile limit? And you're talking about military exercise within 150 nautical miles? 150 nautical miles - come on, that’s far away, okay? Every military exercise now closes in on the 24-nautical-mile mark. You setting the range at 150 nautical miles is way too broad. Are you just trying to boost your prediction success rate? No need to go through all that trouble. I can tell you clearly: there will be a large-scale military exercise every year. 100% chance. And it will be near 24 nautical miles, meaning within 36 nautical miles.

Let's look back at the first prediction.
First off, you need to know that 'One Country, Two Systems,' the 'One China Policy' and the '1992 Consensus One China, with respective interpretations' are all different things. 'One Country, Two Systems' is not what the Mainland China wants; they prefer 'One Country, One System.' Therefore, forcing companies to declare support for 'One Country, Two Systems' is completely unnecessary and might even leave hidden liabilities for future governance after they took Taiwan. They are much more likely to demand companies declare support for the 'One China Policy.' Because the 'One China Policy' is what the entire world follows - including Taiwan's diplomatic allies. Therefore, asking companies to declare support for the One China Principle is not an issue at all.

Furthermore, the One China Policy fits the definition of Taiwan's constitution and laws. It’s just that because the pro-independence DPP is currently in power, if you declare support for the One China Policy in Taiwan, even though it's not illegal, the DPP will deploy their internet army to witch-hunt you first. If you don't back down or if you get cockier, they will start using administrative measures against you and your company. If you don't believe me, search 'Yafang Ice Cream (雅方冰淇淋)'. And I have more public cases if you want. And I will call it "Political persecution."

And due to the same reason, that's why I'm here using nostr, not FB/IG/Threads. And due to the same reason, that's why I'm leaving Taiwan and staying in Europe.

      In reply to nevent1q…kxud
_________________________

For foreign netizens who don't know what a columbarium scam is:

First of all, the prices of columbarium niches in Taiwan vary drastically. Some are very cheap, while others are extremely expensive; the price difference can be up to a hundredfold. Because of this, there are people who will try to pitch and sell columbarium niches to you. For Taiwanese people, most hope to at least have a place to rest after they die, so they might purchase one during their lifetime.

Precisely because the price difference is so massive, some people might experience FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). They will buy cheaper niches early on to avoid being unable to afford them in the future if prices skyrocket a hundred times over. However, in reality, columbarium prices do not shoot up like a rocket over time. Building columbariums is much easier than building social housing. If prices rise too aggressively, simply building a few more can instantly bring the supply back up. The price difference mainly stems from the location and which company operates and manages it. Therefore, many people might buy at a high price and get stuck at this very first step—buying it too dearly from the get-go due to unfamiliarity with market prices and FOMO.

Once you own a columbarium niche, this owner registry list might be leaked to scam syndicates. The scammers will contact you, falsely claiming that someone is willing to buy the niche you hold at a high price. Their pitch sounds something like: they want to buy positions for their entire family, and it just so happens that your niche is right next to theirs; they are just one niche short of keeping their whole family together. Things of that nature.

After you mistakenly believe their pitch and sign a contract, they will then say the buyer will only make the purchase if you also buy an ash urn. After you pay, they will claim that a ritual must be included before the buyer will proceed. In short, they will find all sorts of excuses to make you shell out more money for add-ons. They might even claim you need to pay taxes, processing fees, and so on in advance. Once they can no longer squeeze any more money out of you, or if you are lucky enough to wake up first and refuse to give them more money, they will claim you breached the contract. Consequently, all the money you previously paid will be completely confiscated, and the scam syndicate will vanish, blocking all means of contact.

That is roughly how the scheme works.

News: A grieving mother shared her heartbreak after her 18-year-old daughter was crushed to death by a crane truck. She accused the judge of striking down her claim for child support and callously telling her, "Your daughter died in vain."
When she questioned the judge's empathy, he reportedly snapped, "Are you holding a gun to my head to extort money?" The crane company, which falsified safety spotter permits, has shown zero remorse, relying entirely on mandatory insurance to settle.

My opinion: Under the glorious DPP rule, Taiwan's judiciary couldn't protect a decent citizen if its life depended on it. It’s all just double standards and political witch hunts. If the law refuses to protect the good guys, then the citizens' actual civic duty is to break it - just don’t get caught. Clearly, that is real justice. That's why we need tor and nostr.

https://youtu.be/lt4eIB5vi5Q?si=1voniNVgny8eWKKN

#Taiwan #Justice #Tragedy #TrafficSafety #Court

News: The toxic cooking oil scandal in Taiwan is escalating after Central Union Oil Corp's soybean salad oil was found to contain excessive levels of benzopyrene, a Group 1 carcinogen.
Over 1,300 tons of tainted oil spanning 18 products from four major brands have leaked into the market, impacting at least 300 food vendors, schools, and hypermarkets. The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that military supply centers have pulled the products and halted all use.

My opinion: As a former Second Lieutenant who actually served mandatory military service in Taiwan, I can tell you that most people don’t walk out of there in better shape from the 'training'. Instead, their health gets completely trashed. Why? Because the Taiwanese military is basically a garbage disposal for whatever unsellable crap the country is stuck with. When there's a fruit surplus, you're forced to gag down the exact same fruit at every single meal. When the food is toxic, you shut up and eat it anyway. After all, they just gaslight you by saying, 'Reasonable demands are training; unreasonable ones are character-building.' I guess in their minds, if war breaks out, you'll be eating poison anyway.

https://ctinews.com/news/items/pRnYm1wrnY

#Taiwan #FoodSafety #Scandal #Health #Military

News: Taiwan's Legislative Yuan passed the "Virtual Asset Service Act." Under the new law, Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) must obtain an official license to operate.
The law sets clear rules for stablecoin issuers, mandating 100% reserve assets held at local banks separate from company funds, with no interest payouts allowed. Violators operating without a license face up to 7 years in prison, while market manipulation carries penalties up to 10 years and a NT$200M fine.

My opinion: It's all well and good, but citizens still can't buy U.S. spot crypto ETFs through local sub-brokerage accounts. News: President Lai Ching-te criticized opposition parties (KMT and TPP) for proposing their own drone regulations, claiming they violate the separation of powers and infringe on executive authority.
After the opposition blocked the cabinet's special budget bill for defense drones, arguing it evades oversight and should use standard annual budgeting, Lai countered that relying on regular budgets would defund education and welfare while delaying critical defense needs.

My Opinion: Talk about total fucking deja vu, right? Just like a certain country currently at war, their military spending is basically just a piggy bank for corruption - which is exactly why he’ll never let the opposition party or the parliament audit a single cent of it.

https://ctinews.com/news/items/6Baljv73nQ

#Taiwan #Politics #DPP #LaiChingTe #Corruption

News: Heavy rains devastated water lotus crops in Meinong, Kaohsiung. When KMT mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en visited the scene, pro-DPP "Green Bird" netizens mocked her, claiming water lotuses grow in water anyway so floods don't matter.
After a local young farmer corrected them, explaining how muddy floodwaters rot the crops, the Green Birds turned on the farmer, accusing him of lying. The farmer shut them down with photos of his ruined crops, sparking widespread public backlash against the cyberbullies.

My opinion: I honestly don't know how many fucking times I have to say this, but Taiwan is currently plagued by a bunch of green-fascist lowlifes who cyberbully and witch-hunt everyone just to shield the ruling DPP. Thank god this farmer actually had the balls to stand up against these fascists, but way too many people are completely chilled into silence and refuse to fight back. News: Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense has scrapped the "12-year rule" for veterans volunteering for rifle shooting training camps. Previously, only those who had been discharged for under 12 years could apply.
Now, any male or female reservist, regardless of how long ago they retired, can sign up, provided they are not scheduled for mandatory recall training this year. The change aims to expand public participation and boost total society defense resilience.

My opinion: This isn't about boosting military resilience; it's about boosting the DPP's anti-China political propaganda resilience. It’s just a scam to trick those brain-dead idiots into thinking that practicing with a rifle is actually going to protect Taiwan. News: The Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC 2026) kicked off in Hawaii. Former Air Force Deputy Commander Chang Yan-ting noted that while the simulated adversary is clearly mainland China, the U.S. military's true objective is validating its "coalition warfare" capabilities.
Rather than acting alone, the U.S. is integrating its allies into a multi-layered command structure, turning the drills into both a military test and a collective political statement.

My opinion: Oh nice, a "Rim of the Pacific" exercise without Taiwan. News: The second-instance verdict for a spy case involving DPP members has sparked outrage after sentences were reduced, and Ho Jen-chieh, former secretary to NSC Secretary-General Joseph Wu, was acquitted.

My opinion: Like I said, the DPP uses the 'resist China and protect Taiwan' banner at home just to harvest votes from brain-dead voters. News: Taiwanese retired general Yu Bei-chen once famously claimed on a talk show that firing three air defense missiles - each with a 70% intercept rate - at a single target would combine for a "210% interception rate."
Recently, a high school math exam from the mainland China went viral after using this exact scenario as a probability question. Netizens mocked Yu, joking that the answer must be 210% to "respect his copyright." (The real math answer is 97.3%).

My opinion: Yeah, it's hilarious. News: Taiwan's Ministry of Labor is facing heavy backlash after its survey revealed 24.6% of workers are plagued by after-hours texts from bosses.
Instead of passing real laws, the ministry half-assed its response by simply telling workers to "claim overtime pay" for those late-night texts. To stop draft dodgers from using fines to avoid jail time (which creates the perception that "money can buy you out of military service"), the minimum sentence for dodging the draft or wartime mobilization will be set to 1 year in prison (capped at 5 years), meaning offenders can no longer pay a fine to avoid jail.

My opinion: Looks like Taiwan is about to start its own version of Ukraine's 'busification'.

https://ctinews.com/news/items/4OaZmrdjW6

#Taiwan #Military #Conscription #Defense #Law #busification

News: Taiwan’s National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu took to X (formerly Twitter) to accuse Beijing of "maritime bullying." He posted radar tracking data showing China’s research vessel Xiang Yang Hong 22 allegedly intruding into waters east of Taiwan.
According to Wu, Taiwan's Coast Guard radioed the ship, telling them: “THIS IS NOT YOUR WATERS.” China's Ministry of Natural Resources claimed the vessel was merely conducting ecological research.

My opinion as a Taiwanese: Oh, really? THIS IS NOT YOUR WATERS EITHER. Didn't you guys just agree a few days ago that that exact area belongs to Japan and Philippine when they drew their Exclusive Economic Zones? News: A debate has erupted in Taiwan over agricultural exports. After a local official faced backlash for promoting fruit to China, ruling party (DPP) lawmakers suggested redirecting exports to Michelin-starred restaurants in France instead.
However, critics hit back with data showing a massive scale gap: France absorbs roughly 150 tons of Taiwanese produce annually, whereas exports to China previously peaked at 50,000 tons—a 330-fold difference.

My opinion: We have these fucking lawmakers who can’t even do basic goddamn math, getting elected purely off hate-China votes. This is the pathetic reality of Taiwan right now - a bunch of anti-China zealots running around witch-hunting everyone and completely ignoring cold, hard data. The moment you have any normal interaction with mainland China, if you're not part of their cult, they will absolutely tear you to fucking pieces.

https://ctinews.com/news/items/KwnK0eB1WY

#Taiwan #Agriculture #Trade #Politics #CrossStrait

News: Taiwan President Lai Ching-te called on Beijing to renounce military threats and halt expansionism, expressing willingness to engage in exchanges under "parity and dignity." China's Foreign Ministry responded that Lai's words cannot alter the historical trend of eventual unification.

As a Taiwanese, my opinion is: If you don't have the fucking backbone, stop talking out of your ass. News: KMT Legislator Wang Hung-wei fiercely criticized the investigation into Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling for sending a pre-recorded video to the Straits Forum, calling it a blatant abuse of authority over a trivial matter. In response, MAC Minister Chiu Chui-cheng repeatedly hammered home the point that the forum serves as a platform for Beijing's United Front work, ultimately aiming to "annihilate the Republic of China (Taiwan)." Wang instantly fired back with heavy sarcasm: "So a single video clip from Rao Ching-ling is going to destroy the ROC (Taiwan)? Wow, that must be one incredibly powerful video! It's absolutely laughable!"
Wang also slammed the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) for its double standards, pointing out that while the agency constantly cries poverty over budget constraints, it had no problem splashing nearly one million NTD just to renovate a conference room. "Talk about an elite trap," she scoffed.

My point of view: The real double standard is someone like DPP Legislator Puma Shen. On one hand, he rakes in 'red money' from mainland China, while on the other, he spreads 'anti-China, protect Taiwan' rhetoric at home. Then you have the pro-DPP Sunny Bank, which makes a killing in RMB over in the mainland, only to turn around and bash China once they're back in Taiwan. The bottom line is: they are perfectly free to engage with mainland China, but the moment you do it, they will blast you to pieces!

https://ctinews.com/videos/P1bJV7lxbD

#taiwan

News: Taiwan Election Drama: KMT New Taipei City mayoral candidate Lee Si-chuan’s office lashes out at DPP rival Su Chiao-hui’s camp, calling their cyber army accusations a "Green joke." Lee’s team claims they are the ones being doxxed & smeared by Green partisans.

LMAO, literally everyone knows that only the DPP pan-green camp has actual cyber armies and online shills. With an electricity price hike in Taiwan virtually certain after the legislature rejected a NT$200 billion subsidy, Economic Minister Jwuo stated he respects the upcoming rate review decision. While continuing to push for government funding to relieve Taipower's heavy debt and interest burden, he defended the utility, blaming its losses on global fuel spikes and past price freezes rather than poor management.

During the Ma Ying-jeou administration, electricity rates went both up and down. When they went up, the public went ballistic; when they dropped, nobody bothered to say thank you. Under the DPP, rates only go up, never down - yet nobody dares to complain. # Downgrade of U.S. Reception for KMT Chair Triggers Political Debate
During her visit to the United States, Kuomintang (KMT) Chairperson Cheng Li-wen reportedly met only with lower-level "desk-level" officials from the U.S. State Department. This reception protocol is noticeably lower than what has been granted to other prominent Taiwanese political figures, sparking significant debate back home.

# Here's my take.
My perspective on this: Ms. Cheng Li-wen met with Xi Jinping before her trip to America. Simply put, when you stand tall and speak to China as an equal without bowing down to them, they are willing to grant you high-level treatment. But when you stand tall and refuse to kiss up to the US, they will find ways to trip you up and make things difficult for you.

https://www.nownews.com/news/6847088
