Some non technical observations on the bitcoin data bloat discussion:
- Most subject experts say risks for Noderunners and bitcoin itself from spam in current situation OP RETURN are overstated by proponents of bip 110 (alarmists, minority outcast group)
- most bitcoin OG’s agree spam is not desirable but we can’t do anything about it yet unless we take unnecessary risks
- less decentralization argument is only partly valid long term but not an issue short term
- Most bitcoiners favor current ‘relative’ stability over unknown situation of bip 110 and risk of a chain split is granted
- most transactions will be on layer 2’s anyway for better privacy and UX
- Bip-360 is more likely to happen security upgrade (less controversial) for which the data issue fix can also be packaged in?
- Noderunners (naturally hating spam and shitcoiners) were misguided on Knots and BIP-110 - were emotionally manipulated.
- when in doubt do nothing, wins again
- Pro bip 110 camp will loose

Because gold lets states stay in charge.
Governments realized they can’t fully control or confiscate bitcoin at scale from sovereign holders, which threatens their monopoly on money.
Even as some nations (like US) build limited Bitcoin reserves from seizures, the vast majority of central banks prefer gold and reject Bitcoin because of it’s uncontrollable nature.
Bitcoin challenges their power. It’s adoption as base money continues relentlessly, which in time will fully defund the state.

For Pizzaday I won't hang out with bitcoiners this year, pretending MoE will be happening in the 'developed' world at a merchant they convinced to accept bitcoin, that actually do not give a fuck about bitcoin, other the then occasional virtue signal or just another target audience they can make money of.
I'm planning to create my own pizza at home and zapp sats to people on NOSTR.
Maybe invite some bitcoiner friends over to join the party.
Merchants will have to incentivize me to spend my sats there. Not the other way around.
I'm totally fine if it takes another decade for merchants to be fully orange pilled before I change my mind.
For that to happen on massive scale, fiat currency has to die first. After that learning phase bitcoin as a MoE will find its true potential.
