This is as a result of House Substitute for Senate Bill 244, which says ID must now reflect the credential holder's "sex at birth." The letter warns that upon the law's publication today, Feb. 26, current credentials will "no longer be valid." Per the letter, there is no grace period and anyone operating a vehicle without a valid credential may be subject to "additional penalties." Thousands of anti-ICE protestors have gathered to march through Minneapolis in sub-zero temperatures. "We have seen this happen before, right? It always starts with one group of people, until it spreads to everybody," said 24-year-old Yubi Hassan, who emigrated from Somalia as a teen and was handing out hot tea to fellow marchers. "Today is us, tomorrow it might be somebody else."

Mati Hanson, 31, said she was protesting because she felt that she can as a white person. “A lot of people aren’t leaving their houses…Those are the people I want to support, since they can’t be here,” she said.
