I am just blown away. 6 months ago I had 3 programs that I HAD to run on windows because the #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=Linux]Linux[/url] emulators had major bugs. 6 months later I can run them all with #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=Steam]Steam[/url] #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=Proton]Proton[/url] experimental and I haven't had any need to use #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=windows]windows[/url] since other than to log on to get stuff off and transfer it to Linux. Between steam and #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=Europe]Europe[/url] dumping tons of money into linux and other open sourced software, Window's choke-hold monopoly is quickly dying. No forced AI, no invasive surveillance slowing everything down, if they can just make a software that will just automatically run windows programs with little effort which I think steam could pull off, there would be no reason for anyone to use windows in the future. This can translate into trucks big rigs as well, where you will see them more than in sedans.
Basically its a hybrid of a #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=sodium]sodium[/url] battery and a #[url=https://friendica.myportal.social/search?tag=lithium]lithium[/url] battery. I don't know what the exact type of each is, its too new but there are 2 batteries each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Most of the time you will only ever use the sodium part for any short range you use. Its amazing in extreme temps and charges insanely fast like the old lead acid batteries and lasts for a long time. However like with the plugin electric hybrid system, this one will have a backup once you drain the sodium batteries on long trips and kick in the lithium batteries.
Lithium goes bad faster the more you use it, not as much for sodium, so sodium will be your first use and only use and recharge your lithium battery as a last resort. This means that the batteries can last an insanely long time. 10 years ago it was believed that lithium batteries only could be guaranteed to last around 8 years before they started to degrade which is why 8 years is the longest battery warranty. Now that they've been in circulation its not uncommon for a lithium battery to last double that amount before it begins to degrade especially with proper maintenance.
This means that this thing could last up to 40-50 years before it started to degrade, because the lithium battery is babied and the sodium is abused by comparison and it can take it.
The sodium battery is 30% heavier than lithium, but with the power of science they have shrunk both, and and sodium batteries can cost 30% of a lithium battery because its basically made out of waste products instead of mining them with slave labor in the Congo. Now it really comes down to reducing the size and dropping the cost even more. A good Chinese car even with 100% tariffs costs around $20k, that number will just keep dropping as they scale up and make buying an ICE vehicle seem a complete waste of money and just a status symbol.

Fully expect ICE to be at every minority polling station as a way to intimidate legal voters this election and in 2028. If you can, be part of the voter protection movements I'm sure that will spring up to counter this reign of terror tactic they are almost certainly going to try to pull off.

Importantly, the argument does not treat believers as irrational. On the contrary, religious belief is seen as understandable — even rational — given the social realities people inhabit. It expresses a longing for justice, community, and meaning. The very existence of such longing signals deficiencies in the social order. The promise of a better world reflects dissatisfaction with the present one.

I knew it was bad, but since i don't say anything about my race(white), i didn't realize how bad it was until i accidentally said something that could have been read as potentially indicated i could be black did all the biggots flood my feed in ways id never seen before. Mind you i had the same issue on X before. Its one of those, you know is bad cause you hear it from monorities, until you see it in real time and you never realized it was THAT bad. There is a thing called channels on friendica where you can filter video only, so it is also a tiktok alternative. I'm going to be that guy for a second and say that nuclear has killed as many people as wind, and a little less people than solar(because of falls from installations) and coal still releases a lot of radioactive material.
Former naval nuclear electrician here.
People know about Chernobyl but moist don't know about the Bhopal disaster the year after that killed over 10k people from an explosion at a pesticide plant plus a 1/2 million maimed vs the 50 people at Chernobyl. And both had long term health issues. 93K for Chenobyl vs 120-150K for Bhopal, but I don't here anyone calling for the end to all similar chemical production.

That said I'm really hopeful that sodium ion batteries + renewables makes nuclear pointless in the US and it looks to only be really financially viable in massive scale like India and China. I'm hoping its not just hype and really is scaling as fast as its been claimed.

Chernobyl was a type of reactor that was out of date and dangerous in its time and even then it took a massive amount of incompetence to make it happen.
Modern reactors can't even melt down or explode not even fukishima, and they are slowly reclaiming the land and soil, something that can't be said for many coal ash spills and superfund sites.

Thorium is a waste product we already have and decaying it further reduces it further. 500 year half-life vs 10k from a uranium reactor. Would a spill be bad? yes, but NOTHING like the death tool coal and natural gas have on their wrap sheet.

Its not that we are have unbridled optimism(though there are some I'm sure that have it) its more which does less harm. The current model has coal and gas part of the energy mix which is worse for the planet than nuclear if is has the same accident rate as our current record has and they just keep getting safer.
