And we used tools scanning our own blocks of IPs continuously just to make sure nothing opened up. IP addresses (not dns) are scanned all of the time looking for vulnerabilities so it's imperative that you used host based rules including some type of firewall in front of the hosts.<br/><br/>It would be silly not to but I bet there are plenty of devs who do what you're referring to.
