# Notes On Malaysia and The Network State

Balaji represents the quintessential enemy - a parasitic leech who has built his trade not on the expansion of genuine infrastructure or extrastatecraft mastery but hyperfinacial vaporwave and LinkedIn vibes. The Network State in principle has much that one can discern and learn from but in reality and practically it is a front for American Imperial machination akin to the establishment of American Universities across the MENA region in the 20th century. A metastatic cancer that seeks to lobotomize and brainwash entire cultures and civilizations, helping to abort emerging indigenous forms of cosmotechnic modernities.

In light of the recent Malaysian debacle, there is now an opportunity to drive out Network State and to thoroughly terrorize and incite fear amongst such adherents so they think twice before stepping into any Old Islamicate nation. We are in a state of total and unending hyperwar, everything is Harb and everything is a fight till death. As such Balaji is a combatant, a genuine participant in the Interregnum. He does not qualify as guest and has no right to hospitality.

The recent incursion of the Network State to one of the more prosperous islands in Malaysia should not be used as a lightning rod for Luddite, reactionary radicalism. Rather, it should be an opportunity for new collectives of Islamic Futurism like SAIF to take the fight directly to the Network State. To reclaim, in the process, an indigenous form of cosmotechnic modernity that will gladly tackle the questions of technology that the Network State seeks to negotiate, but on its own sovereign terms.

The adherents of the Network State will seek to make this a fight between technology and tradition, between modernity and antiquity, between progress and a new atheist caricature of religion. This should be dismissed, and the leading opponents of the network state should be Muslim technologists who understand and are comfortable with the question of technology but reject the often American and Zionist imperial undertones of the answer that collectives such as the Network State have to offer.
The fundamental question regarding the Network State controversy is none of these issues. It's far simpler and far deeper and far more primal. It is: who is sovereign when it comes to negotiating the question of technology? Who is in charge? Who calls the shots? Who makes the decisions? Muslim responses should not recycle or regurgitate broken and tired cliches from has-been perennialists or reactionary Dawah Inc types about "the excesses of technology/modernity" as they have no understanding of the contours and constructs of a world that is in a state of constant hyperwar over extrastatecraft boundaries.

Malaysia has much to offer. It is a latent reservoir with bounding and enormous amounts of potential that far eclipse the heartlands of the Old Islamicate in the MENA region, all the way to the subcontinent. In many respects, because of its geographical proximity to China, and in its own indigenous ethnic makeup there is opportunity, possibility, potential for genuine Islamocosmictechnic modernity that is comfortable in negotiating hyperwar and navigating its way through the Interregnum.

To banish Balaji and his acolytes, all and every weapon on the table must be utilized. In this respect, Muslim technologists and collectives can deploy and use the mass street power of reactionaries to drive away the Network State from getting a foothold. This would create an environment of constant tension, strife, and uncertainty that would make many think twice before relocating and shifting their lives halfway across the world.

In this respect, one also has to be careful, because this could potentially boomerang around and end up becoming a pyrrhic victory that undermines the constructions of a genuine New Islamicate technological sovereignty. This is because reactionaries and populists will fan suspicion of technology in general, rather than the actors and the histories associated with the Network State, particularly their relationship to American imperial power and Zionism.

The answer then is simple: eternal jihad against the Network State - it should not be tolerated, should not be engaged with. It is not a good-faith actor. It openly seeks to decimate and destroy the burgeoning sovereignties of emerging potential powers in the Global South. It also seeks to parasitically capitalize on the emergence of the technological scene by recruiting local talent (much in the way that American universities in the MENA region did) to its own nefarious Palantir-esque global designs. It seeks to subject new potential elites in the future to constant cogwar, to the point that they become unwitting proponents of Global American Empire.

I offer the following pointers:

to raid the archives of the Network State
to take what sounds eminently sensible from within their ranks and acolytes
to seek to steal, pirate, and take whatever one feels points towards wisdom and discernment
to completely and utterly burn down the embodied institutional form of Balaji's design and to seek its annihilation and extinction from Muslim lands using whatever lawful means are appropriate and this will be up to local actors and not something for those outside the theatre to dictate
This is only the beginning of the Interregnum. I was once optimistic that at the end of the Interregnum there would be a new formal stable order. Perhaps though in our lifetimes we will only know strife. We will only be passengers in an era of total FitnaPunk, hyperwar, cogwar and other machinations all around us that seek to impose a total form of GAE sovereignty for all that we hold close and dear to our hearts.

The sheer volume and unadulterated nature of the release leaves little opportunity to sift, contextualize, or construct any coherent narrative around the material. The zone has been flooded by acid epistemology - corroding any meaningful engagement and robbing the moment of any sense of political course correction.

This stands in sharp contrast to the judicious labor and meticulous archiving of the WikiLeaks saga, which emerged from a disciplined team operating with a clear political and philosophical rationale for the release of dark Amreeki secrets. WikiLeaks represented a deliberate construction of how American power and its imperial vassals operated across diplomatic and intelligence layers. The Epstein emails, by contrast, resemble raw salacious gossip dumped en masse onto an already cograyped population, one no longer capable of reliably distinguishing truth from falsehood under algorithmic ubersaturation and other nefarious cogwarfare machinations.

Indeed, the Epstein leaks function as a Rorschach test. Each faction in the contemporary media market circus extracts only what it wishes to see and projects whatever serves its priors, filtered through a half-baked, podcast peasant understanding of how power actually operates. No unifying narrative exists. Everything is polemical. Everything is tribal. Everything arrives prepackaged within prefabricated storylines designed to serve patronage networks operating behind the curtain. ling phenomenon emerges. Once a population is fully sedated by an industrial complex of edutainment and reality-television politics, steeped in acid epistemology, the capacity for correction collapses. Information itself has been commoditized into a product, a lifestyle, a subscription something effervescent, incapable of producing deep, durable cultural reform. Information now resembles buying a new contracted Iphone or moving your music streaming from Spotify to Deezer.

The mantra that journalism safeguards democratic regimes now reads, like so much else, as a complete lie designed to sedate the masses. Since the War on Terror, the American-led global empire has operated as a kind of hyper dysfunctional Soviet clone: oligarchic power, billions if not more "misplaced" in defence spending with a clattering succession of failed Pentagon audits, hyper-financialism, and Big Tech all of which sit beyond reproach immune to populist outrage, public unrest. The system domesticates dissent into the podcast economy, the influencer/attention economy, the creator economy - all economies of fake ghey pageantry. People rent out information and political opinions for revenue, often in ways that flatter elite interests. Information rarely becomes a lever for structural change.

A sharper example sits inside Padishah's regime. MAGA has been exposed as an oligarchic vehicle for Big Tech biometric surveillance, visible in the aggressive growth of paramilitary organizations deploying panopticon technologies to hold whole populations hostage.

What more can be said of the Epstein emails, and what more can be inferred about our present condition? Despite the sheer availability and ease of access to the material, we are already seeing mass-produced LLM-generated replicas, summaries, and distortions of the emails copies that accelerate their conversion into satire and irony. This process strips the leaks of any remaining moral force. The biomass gravitates toward irony and shitposting rather than confronting the weight of what the documents imply: that systemic depravity and entrenched sin sit at the core of the empire itself.

Satire functions here as anesthesia on behalf of depraved elites. Irony becomes a shield as it proves easier to metabolize the revelation of moral rot by flattening it into LLM-generated copypasta, by laundering horror through humor, by hiding behind the posture of detachment. In this form, information never hardens into judgment and judgment never matures into action. Sin becomes tolerable once rendered ironic.

And can one even blame the biomass? After successive, catastrophic failures to produce real change despite the empire’s open hypocrisy and brittle foundations since the 2008 crash, despite the horrors and fiascos of the War on Terror, despite the subsequent buildout of an American surveillance state run through contractor ecosystems and platform oligarchs such as Elon Musk and Peter Thiel - irony starts to look less like decadence and more like the last refuge of resigned and extinguished souls. Anonymous posting into the abyss becomes a kind of consolation prize: maybe dissent survives somewhere as a joke, archived for humorous posterity.

Democratic regimes have mutated into something more dysfunctional than the Soviet Union ever managed. Citizens receive a mirage of choice and freedom; the system delivers stasis. Nothing changes. Nothing happens. The same party logic has governed for a quarter-century, perhaps longer, with the same dogmas embedded in the ruling class whether they dress up in populist costume or in sober technocratic internationalism - the style best exemplified by the Obama era.

There will be no riots. No revolutions. No guillotines. Elites will not be thrown from buildings. Government halls will not burn. Flags will remain in place. Power will not be reclaimed. None of this was ever plausible. None of it was ever available as a path.

In that light, the central takeaway from the emails is less the revelation of particular sins than the demonstration of an operational fusion, in which depravity supplies leverage, blackmail, and spectacle, incompetence supplies plausible deniability and bureaucratic fog, and corruption supplies the liquidity and contractual plumbing that keeps the whole machine running, with each element reinforcing the others inside a cybernetic loop that treats outrage as noise, treats scandal as content, treats exposure as another data-stream to be managed, and treats political consequence as a variable to be dampened, which means that the moral register remains trapped at the level of disgust while the system quietly compiles the event into its own self-knowledge, updates its thresholds, and continues.

In this frame, the Epstein emails effectively never happened. That verdict will harden in retrospect. Within a year, the media circus will have migrated to the next manufactured catastrophe, the previous one quietly discarded, its moral charge neutralized. The system will continue its recursive self-reorganization under the Cybernetic Hypothesis, optimizing control and feedback while awaiting the arrival of the Machine God.

Notes On Attention

Attention is a unit of commerce, a commodity and weapon - it is all of this at once and more. In the canon of Islamicate Sufic authors, attention was at the core of spiritual rejuvenation. Attention and the gaze of man was meant to be directed to the Divine alone but man all too soon realized there were many ailments that poisoned the mind and body, preventing access to the Source. The authors of tasawwuf then in one sense were keen diagnosticians, aware of precognitive frames that hindered man to not fully utilize attention and direct it to where it needed to go.

To conquer the ailments and treat them was a far simpler task a century ago, perhaps even a decade or so ago. Now attention is increasingly anchored primarily in cyberspace, contested not merely by traditional typologies of spontaneous sin like lust and greed but well coordinated nation-state actors, intelligence agencies and propaganda machines - well funded, well financed and often well researched.

One recourse for the Muslim is to lean into Luddite retreat. Cyberspace is simply inhospitable to Islam. Cyberspace is not a space that is commensurate with Islamic sensibilities and sentiment. It cannot be conquered, it cannot be redesigned or realigned. However, to concede the loss of cyberspace is for the believer to unwittingly concede the lack of one's own capacity to bear witness to God's Revelation in the Time that he has allotted to us.

It also does not understand that the nature of statecraft, commerce, monetary activity and intellectual generation will primarily be cyber in the years to come. Action will inevitably be local, but the generative impulses for it can be done in online networks that recognize Muslim plurality as a feature and not a bug. Cyberspace will be contested by nation-state blocs, empires, corporations and radical private actors. It seems perplexing that some Muslims choose to abandon this field, nor even consider its utility in terms of formulating new political configurations centered around the Divine.

Another alternative, is to use cyberspace as terrain for rehashing old battles because there is simply no imagination, vision or will to conceptualize New Islamicate futures. These debates in the past were not centrally generative of any real political project, but often relied on patronage from the Islamic Secular who envisioned a civlizational vision much larger than the often parochial concerns of the jurist-class.

In this vision, the mimetic potential of cyber virality repackages marginal concerns of the ancient jurist-class into a mistaken centrality in the project of civilizational anchoring. For example the legality of the Mawlid occupies centrality in cyber-articulations of "Islamicness" - an odd and pathetic use of the potentials of digital discourse. Dawah Inc has catapulted a whole raft of wholly irrelevant concerns and granted them as somehow the be all and end all of civilizational renewal. It creates a class of Muslims who see the negotiation of such question as the be all and end all to the question of how Islam engages today and in the future. It fosters a false sense of a febrile zero sum game that gives rise to interesting psychopathologies.

Both these approaches cocoon the believer from the realities of the age, it creates cognitive dissonance. It leads to a distorted sense of the heritage of all those who labored for Islamicate Sovereignty which if one mines the historical archives were a far more expansive set of actors than just the jurist-class. The Muslim modern is orphaned from the larger chain of those who worked towards Islamicate Sovereignty.

This has created, whether the participants are aware of this or not - a profound sense of alienation for the vast majority of believers who are not invested in Dawah Inc or the ongoing attempts at self-preservation of a failing jurist-class that have been unduly burdened with unreasonable expectations packaged with responsibilities and obligations it is not equipped to deal with. It can be argued that in the past there was no expectation that the jurist-class was meant to be the generative site for renewal and configuration of new novel forms of political and social configuration. Fiqh was never in the business of culture-making the foundations for political order. The juristic class of course were relied upon to be a bedrock of stability in whatever political configuration was hashed out, contested and arrived at.

At a basic level, today the impoverishment, weakness and humiliation of post-colonial Muslim states sparks a transhistorical sense of collective guilt and remorse which forges communal belonging that often boils down to "We can do better, we must do better". However, where do these believers turn to in between Luddites and Dawah Inc?

Those who are not well versed in these arcane debates are somehow made to feel as if they have no real part to play in the story of Islamicate civilizations in this century and beyond. They do believe in the gaze of God, the promises of His Messenger ﷺ and the reality of the Last Day, but there is no sense of network or anchoring either in meatspace or cyber that allows them to labour in this cause without being caught up in baboonery.

Much can and should also be said about other chasms in the Muslim attention-economy - ethno-narcissism, ghettoisation, perplexing nationalisms - perhaps for another time.

So what is the state of the Muslim "attention-economy" so to speak? It is dire. We have lost potential networks of the Islamic Secular within cyber, that could have laboured towards Islamicate Sovereignty, that have as much an authentic role (indeed even more so) than the jurist-class or the Dawah Inc media market merchants. Fixing the attention-economy in cyber is necessary - dragging the timeline towards sanity away from delirium and perhaps most of all denial of the tasks at hand.

The mimicry of mediocre celebrity that sought to scavenge off the dregs of peasant capital would be decimated, by emphasizing self-effacement in the hyperdigital there would be the potential for creating new Islamicate myths and legends. Dawah Inc thus would be vanquished not through brute force but by shadow war - by nameless, faceless neo-Malamatiyya who would never conform or give in to the fragile illusory promise of e-celebrity.

The keys to unlocking the mimetic potential of the hyperdigital lie within the archives - there were always souls suspicious of the sunlight, the easy promise of transparent success and public adulation. There have always been those who remained distant from the corrupting influence of a hermeneutics that all too often played to the whims and passions of the masses. Yet, they nonetheless felt compelled to spark transformation through deploying a different form of communication, a different form of art that sought to eclipse the flesh of status and social standing. Islam through its initial iconoclastic spirit lends itself as fertile terrain for this enterprise.

Lately, they have become disillusioned with the incumbent elites but for entirely different reasons. The likes of Musk and Theil do not believe in the redundancy of American Empire nor do they necessarily disagree with the hyperfinancialism of the American Dollar that has left average citizens poorer, unable to afford a housing but nonetheless expanded the footprint of GAE. They simply believe the incumbent elites are no longer fit to lead, no longer in possession of the tools to guarantee American Imperial supremacy and believe they are now owed the keys to the Empire.

Amidst all of this are the various online meme factions that grew around the counter-cultural appeal of the explosive Banon-variety of Trumpian populism. An anthropology of both cyber and meatspace Trumpism is required and necessary to understand the formations of the Cybernetic State to come in the 21st century. The shattering of the divide between what is "Online" and what is "Real Life".

Beyond gross dissatisfaction around the performance of the Transatlanticist elites and their management of GAE there is little uniting these various trends and networks that have coalesced around Trump.

To take one small example, the MAGA working class are inherently bioconservative, skeptical of scientism, weary of hyper-intellectual utopianism and the optimistic faith in rule by intellectuals. Under the SV MegaCorp you will be a permanent data serf, unable to own anything, a constant "subscriber" and must bow to miracles of Big Pharma 2.0. This is just one example of a clear conflict, there will be other areas and fields where there will be open warfare within the new Trump administration.

For the American Muslim, now is a time of chaos but also opportunity. Abandon Islamoleftism, embrace mercenary deal making, positioning, establishing supra-electoral party networks of influence and engage wholeheartedly with the various Trumpist factions for cold self-interest. For the next few years inshallah, enjoy the MAGA Wars.

I mention dataism specifically because most bio-computer initiatives, currently being evolved or developed by companies that have an inherent commercial bias on leveraging behavioral data that can be analyzed and incorporated into business models and algorithms. Dataism is premised on the assumption that biological behavioral patterns through cyberspace are a commodity that can be bought or sold and synthesized into "business models" for optimization and "priming".

However beyond biological data there is the more fundamental question of what happens when man is synthesized with machine and the Adamic form is absorbed by the augmented cyborg. Fiqh can certainly respond and react to developments as they unfold. But it cannot be relied upon to evolve a proactive spirit, an orientation ahead of time. At least fiqh in its current iteration and configurations of political economy and bureaucratic stasis vis-a-vis its orientation and troubled relationships with the nightmare modern states of the post-colonial Islamicate.

Now is the need for evolving post-Adamic Tasawwuf, where cyborg can be tamed to serve God - a sufic taming of the man-machine synthesis that denies biological dataism, panoptic supremacy.

There is an arresting paragraph in Hallaq's Impossible State where he talks about how the paradigm of the modern state finds no overlap or common cause with that of Islamic governance:

There are a few times in the Impossible State where Hallaq touches upon the coercive and pervasive net of surveillance the modern state casts over everything it sees in an effort to shape the moral nature of its citizens. Nearly every time he does so he references Foucault's work which is to be expected given his intervention in this particular facet of political philosophy.

Hallaq though does not reference the Cypherpunks as a philosophical resource even though the two share striking similarities. One of the biggest drawbacks with Hallaq's work is there is not enough translation of how his astute theoretical analysis translates into the modern machinery of the State in terms of how it actually works. This does not detract from the merit of his work at all, but there is an opportunity that goes begging.

The modern State is a parasite that logs everything you do, leaving no sphere for an "individual" to truly emerge, it is a consumptive pathology that leaves no space for autonomy even though it dresses itself up in the rhetoric of High Enlightenment aesthetics. This inescapable fact that is now proven beyond reproach is the ultimate vindication of the Hallaqian thesis.
