The most unrealistic thing about Idiocracy is the fact that the president faced a problem that he recognized he was not smart enough to solve. So he listened to the smartest people in the room. We could be facing a dinosaurs era ending style meteor that threatens to kill all life on earth. I would fully assume trump would come up with a plan all on his own. A plan that a 5 year old could poke holes in. The kind of plan that an eyeroll isn't enough, so your eyes themselves groan. Yet nobody will tell him no. While both of those things are true, I want to point out that without this reply that I'm typing, nobody would see this moment in time as being absurd. Because it absurd. Reality right now is the poster child of absurdity. Yet nobody thinks about that, because we've all lived through the past 10 years, and the long winding series of blunders that got us here. So this all makes sense to us right now. But if you took any average day from modern times, and made it into a movie released in the 90s? It would have to be a comedy. Something along the lines of humor as Police Academy. Instead of idiot cops doing absurd things, it's this. Idiot politicians doing mind boggling dumb and selfish things to destroy the country, while roughly half the country cheers their own demise.

I mean seriously. Imagine telling someone in 1996 that in 30 years the then president would a pedophile, and everybody knows it, but nobody is doing anything about it. The government also has legal kidnappings of legal citizens carried out by the government with more legal citizens kidnapped than illegal citizens. With absolutely no recourse, no responsibility, no accountability, and no consequences for ruining peoples lives just because they happened to go to the grocery story that day. We also have had, even as far back as the 1970s a growing climate change problem that in 2026 we're helping by building giant data centers that take all the water from the citizens allowing the government and private businesses to spy on the citizens that they're stealing water from. These data centers also power the AI that is now apparently also been taught to be racist. And to top it all off, now you can't eat lettuce.....or blueberries.....or tomatoes......or sour dough bread.......you know what? Just don't eat things in 2026. And don't be any skin color besides white. And don't be a woman. OH! Almost left out the fact that they banned abortions in some states, and then most of those states also made crossing state lines to get an abortion also illegal.

Ah the internet. Where people will say some common knowledge, then someone else will come by and challenge that knowledge, thus pointing out that the common knowledge is actually wrong. So now I'm left to wonder "Wait, where did I even hear that from to begin with?"

Ok, so imagine in the spiderman universe, if some character like Dr Strange, started casting spells on people. Except NOT Dr Strange, because he wouldn't do this. But find a character who's able to cast spells and is a villain.

So this spell is just cast on a single random ordinary guy. He had no powers before the spell, but now after the spell he brings disease everywhere he goes. 50 mile radius around this guy. Everybody gets sick. While he himself never gets this illness. He's immune to it.

So whichever villain cast this on him did so and then framed the guy for some terrorist attack. So now this carrier of disease is sent to some max security prison. The idea being that the original villain is using this guy as a trojan horse to kill Kingpin, who's also locked up. Only problem is, due to some mix-up, the guy gets taken to a regular jail instead. All the inmates, and all the guards are dead within a month.

The other part of the spell is that if this guy is killed, the entire universe explodes. So you can't just kill him. But now NYC has this massive prison complex with thousands of cells, and only 1 prisoner. And they can't put any staff or inmates in there, or they'll die. They've been feeding him via remote control drone delivery. But that's a band-aid solution. So instead they build an artificial island off the coast. with a 75 mile restricted water access. On this artificial island they create ways he can grow his own food, and be self reliant.

Problem averted, right? Because now NYC can use it's already existing jail again. But now that the character is established, you can actually develop the character.

So remember, this guy was NOT a criminal. He did NOT have powers. He's just as much a victim in this, as anyone else. But the government treats him as a terrorist because of what happened at the jail. People see him as the cause of death, because nobody is quite sure whats going on. So they just blame him, and that's it.

After so many years on the island in isolation, he finds a way back to the mainland. And why? Because HE doesn't understand how it works either. He just wants to live a normal life, and doesn't understand why everyone around him keeps dying. So he comes to the city, in search of his family.

Then yada yada spiderman somehow finds out that if he reaches the shore, thousands will die. If he gets close to the guy, he'll die. And with that, we have spiderman using help from Tony Stark to use autonomous Ironman suits to essentially swoop him up, bring him back to the island, and then talk to him via video conference. And this is where we find out that he's not a bad guy. He's just frustrated, scared, and alone. Spiderman empathizes with that, and starts being this guys friend with daily chats.

And now, you have set up for the future, a new character that can be used as a weapon against their will to kill an entire city if taken hostage somehow. He's powerful, because you can't get near him to fight him. But also, he's just a guy with the spell swirling AROUND him. All of his thoughts and motivations are NOT death. But death does follow this guy everywhere he goes.

I think it would be best if this guy when we first meet him is timid and weak, and apologetic for everything in life, whether it's his fault or not. And by the end, he can become completely deranged as a result of isolation, but still not a bad person. A tragic story of a life. And then you can use him against his will in the future.

Maybe Green Goblin's glider can go fly to him, and kidnap him. Then he's essentially used as a bomb. God dammit. I want his Super Villain name to be "Bomberman", but that's already a video game. That would get confusing.

You know how comic books are. Eventually he'll be full on evil. Or maybe mind controlled by someone else. Or maybe he has mental health issues. I hate to say it that way, but that's how comic book villains are written. Evil super villain, and then his motivations behind being evil is because he has mental health issues.

Now I wish this were a thing.

Today it's called literally any cheap cell phone.

Now we know time will always move forward. I'm fairly confident that within 10 years AI run locally CAN exist. It probably can exist right now. The reason it doesn't and won't is because 5 years ago the tech just wasn't there yet.

So they bought a lot of land. They bought a lot of ram. They spent a lot of long term money on this early model of AI from 5 years ago.

So in 10 years, you'd expect there to be more fully functional local run AI. But here's why that won't happen.

When these rich assholes buy land, and all the buildings to be built and paid for by them, they feel obligated to use it. Even if NOT using it weilds better results.

Studies have shown that workers working from home result in more productivity, more work done, and more profit. Yet employers keep the big 12 story office with outdated windows xp computers running legacy software. Why? Because they already paid for it. So, "Come back to work dickhead!" says the boss.

Otherwise he'd have a big office, thats already paid for, but its empty.

So every data center that gets built should be considered permanent, even though from a tech standpoint it doesn't need to be.

So what they're simply asking is, what if the AI didn't drain towns of water and electricity? What if it just ran on your phone?

I really hope GTA 6 bombs HARD. Like, 30k total worldwide sales. I want them to have to reevaluate their strategy, and stop making GTA games so paint by numbers. The numbers are there to make them consistent flow of money. But they really make the missions become "Go to the yellow marker. Follow the target. Kill the gang that ambushes you. Lose the cops. Mission passed."

With multiple cut scenes (that sometimes are unskippable depending on game) between each step.

I just want to enjoy the game, in single player, and have a full experience that doesn't feel tacked on as an after thought.

I remember when I was 17, my mom would hand me the phone whenever telemarketers would call.

I'd waste their time as a hobby. Sometimes I'd say my mom was on vacation in Jamaca, eating lots of blue flavored snow cones. Other times I'd say she was in the shower.

Either way, I'd start a counter to see how long they'd stay on the phone with me. My record was 2 hours 26 minutes. And my mom actually ended it. She came up and asked who I was talking to. I held up the hand signal for telemarketer.

She was in one of her pissy moods, so she grabbed the phone out of my hand, and screamed into the phone "THIS IS HIS MOM! WE DON'T WANT ANY!!!" and hung up.

To this day, I still believe I could have hit the 5 hour mark if she had just let me.

My reasoning was if they're talking to me, they AREN'T talking to someone who could be scammed.

So he starts talking to a rival company. He accepts a job to steal all these vials of dino dna, to hand over to this other company which wants to build their own Jurassic Park. They have none of the research done, and this one move catches them up on 15 years worth of research.

So he writes a code, which disables security, on an island where the only think seperating you from beast is electricity. He shuts that off.

Now he's taken the vials, the dinosaurs are running wild, he's driving in the rain, and despite living here for the past 5 years, is uncertain where the docks are. He takes a turn too fast, crashes his car into the directions sign, and now he has no clue which direction to go. Worse still his jeep is now stuck in the mud.

And this is where it gets really stupid. Instead of trying to pull his jeep OUT of the ditch, he climbs DOWN a hill over a waterfall. This is not a dinosaur paddock, because there are no fences, but it is an artificial jungle area with plenty of trees.

He connects the rip cord from his jeep to a tree at the bottom of a waterfall, and the bottom of a hill.

Now lets pause for a minute. Let's say this island had no dinosaurs. He's just on an island, in a storm, stuck in mud. Lets say nothing stops him from using the rip cord.

His jeep would then pull itself towards a waterfall, and then roll down a hill. Best case scenario, it somehow ends up upright, and not on it's side.

It would still be stuck in the mud, but now it's also at the bottom of an unclimbable hill.

And remember, the boat is at the dock saying they leave in 15 minutes. All this time fussing with the rip cord, is all on the clock, which started back when he was in the control center BEFORE he turned off power, and stole the embrios.

Realistically, he's likely got 5 or so minutes to get to the dock in a storm where he doesn't even know which direction to go.

Dennis Nedry didn't fail because of a dilophosaurus. He failed because he was stressed, full of anxiety, had a half thought out plan, and no foresight to execute the plan.

Which is insane, when you consider he had no issue with the hard part. Writing the code to terminate security. Syncing up the code to your watch so you have an exact down to the second knowledge of when the camera turns off. And a way to slip out the building with a shaving can full of dinosaur dna vials. Once you get to the jeep, that SHOULD be the easy part!

Instead, he got lost on an small island with very few roads, that he should by this point know like the back of his hand.

Now for the kicker.

Not once in the movie did they ever say what his plan was to avoid legal actions.

Lets say he gets away with it. He can't do it again. It'll be obvious who did it by the next day. So what does he do? Would police not just arrest him, and extradite him to the united states to stand trial?

None of his plan ever had a chance of working.

Video gaming was unaffordable in the 80s too. I think if you compare lifetime sales of most NES games to most modern games, you'll find the trend was that if your game wasn't mario, it didn't sell all that well on the NES. Even Zelda in the early days had a rough start.

Ok, so I won't bore you with the back and forth details that led up to this. The important thing to know is that I needed to talk to a human at the IRS to ask a very simple question that would take just a few minutes to look into.

Me trying to call for 3 days dozens of calls dealing with this shit. I eventually figured out how to prompt the AI to let me push buttons to reach menus.

After all that I plotted out what each option does.

ALL OF THEM either lead to a pre-recorded message that says to visit the website, OR attempts to transfer you, before telling you there are no agents taking calls for that option.

Eventually, I wondered what would happen if I said to the AI agent "TAX FRAUD".

Boom. Straight through to an agent.

I feel bad for lying to the hotline, but also, I was left no valid options to talk to a human. Once I said tax fraud, my issue which I had spent probably 100 calls in 3 days trying to get through, was over in 10 minutes. And 6 of those minutes she put me back on hold to research my issue.

Ok, so I work at a Wendys one day a week. I just got off shift, and we close at 1am. At 12am I put a whole bunch of patties down on the grill, so I could start cleaning it by 12:30, and be done by 1am. That way I can walk out the door.

Well......usually we have a rush at 12:40-12:59. Except tonight we didn't.

At 1am, I still had 15 big patties, and 15 junior patties. We're supposed to chop them up into chilli meat, but I said fuck that. This massive billionaire corporation won't even let us take home the food we're going to throw out anyways. So I said fuck them, and took roughly 30 patties that they weren't going to throw out.

Now I'm at home with a dilemma. I'm not going to eat 30 patties in a week. So I put the small patties in 2 ziplock bags, and the big patties into 2 other ziplock bags. I put them in the fridge, but I'm wondering. Should I just put 3 of those bags in the freezer, and leave 1 in the fridge to eat throughout the week? Will the freezer bags have any issues? The meat is already cooked. I'd essentially just need to take out a bag, put it in the fridge, and by the next day I could put it in the microwave for a minute.

So I was just on Youtube, and I saw the suggested videos. Now, about 6 months ago, I was doing a LOT of research on retro handhelds.

I eventually settled on the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. The thing about retro handhelds though, is that 3 new handhelds have been released since I started this sentence. There's a LOT of handhelds out there. Like.....a LOT a lot. So in order to figure out which one to buy, I became a regular viewer of channels like Retro Game Corps, and TechDweeb. Even today, I'm not in the market for a new handheld. I JUST bought one a year ago. But I still watch new videos. I try to keep in the know on the industry as a whole. That Ayn Thor is looking SUPER sexy. I genuinely think I made a mistake in buying the Flip 2. I see the Ayn Thor, and I think "Oh god.....look at it....."

All I'm saying is, if you look at a woman the way I look at Ayn Thor videos, you'll get slapped. Probably by everybody in the immediate area. But I do love my Flip 2. I have to. I have what I have, and I have to make due with what I have. Thing was like $430 once you include all the accessories. I can't just do that AGAIN a few months later just because a new one came out. They come out dozens every month.

And so that's when I saw this youtube video title.

"I sold my Retroid Pocket 5 for the Retroid Pocket GS". I am floored. Can you believe this asshole? He sold his RETROID POCKET 5 TO BUY A RETROID POCKET GS!!!! See, this is the clickbait bullshit that's youtube has succumb to! I am not clicking that video, despite having a complete understanding of why that statement is insane!

And this is the moment that I realize that most readers will not understand what I'm talking about. Let me explain.

See, the Retroid Pocket 5 came out about a year and a half ago. It is a very capable device. If the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 hadn't been released the week after I started researching, I was absolutely GOING TO buy the Retroid Pocket 5. Then they announced the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. I hadn't bought anything yet, and I knew I wasn't getting the Retroid Pocket 5 anymore. It was all about the Flip 2. That's because the Retroid Pocket 5 is a standard handheld shape. Kind of like the PSP, or the Vita, or the original GBA. It had that same form factor. Then, they took literally the exact same handheld. Same motherboard. Same screen. Same buttons. Same ram. Same EVERYTHING. And they instead put it in a clamshell design. Like the DS, but with 1 screen only. But it still closes. Other than form factor, literal exact same handheld. As long as you got the snapdragon 865 version....but we won't go down THAT rabbit hole.

Instead, the relevant bits are that The Retroid Pocket 5 came out Sept 2024. The Flip 2 came out March 2025. And then on Oct 2025 they released the Retroid Pocket GS.

So, what is the Retroid Pocket GS? Well.....it uses the same shell as the Retroid Pocket 5. Same screen. Same buttons. Slightly faster processor. Very slightly. And instead of 8GB of ram, I think it has 12GB. I'd have to double check that. I may be wrong with how badly this ram price situation has gotten. I refuse to call it a shortage. There's plenty of ram in stores. It's just that it's priced in a way that no one is willing to pay.

So let me get this straight. This guy buys the Retroid Pocket 5. Then wants the Retroid Pocket GS. Like me, he can't afford to constantly buy new handhelds for $200+. But unlike me, he makes a go of it anyways. So he sells his perfectly capable Retroid Pocket 5, to get a Retroid Pocket GS??? Well guess what. The Retroid Pocket GS came out in October 2025. Guess what came out January 2026. Oh yeah. We're talkin the Retroid Pocket 6! THAT'S RIGHT BABY!!! FULL SEQUEL!!!!

This is a major jump from the Pocket 5. This is a major jump from the Retroid Pocket GS. It was also announced that it was coming.

Meaning the ONLY people who should have any reason to buy the Retroid Pocket GS, are people who are buying it as a holiday gift for someone else in the timeframe between October 2025 and December 2025. Otherwise just wait the extra one month, and get the full upgrade.

I mean, I would TOTALLY sell my Retroid Pocket Flip 2 for an Ayn Thor. Difference is, that would never work. The model I want is $550. The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 brand new is like $229. There is zero way for me to sell my Retroid Pocket Flip 2. and buy an Ayn Thor. So I guess this is getting me angry for two reasons.

1) This guy thought it was worth it for such a trivial upgrade, KNOWING he has to set up the Retroid Pocket GS, which he's already done with his Retroid Pocket 5. Retro Games Corps has a video showing you how to set up your brand new Retroid Pocket 5. It is an hour long. It has received TWO follow up videos. One is 45 more minutes. The other 37 MORE minutes. All to set up and organize emulators and rom files to play old video games. Now imagine doing that process AGAIN a few months later, just so you get a slight performance boost.

And

2) Who is buying a used Retroid Pocket 5 a year after launch, for equal price as a new Retroid Pocket GS? Who is THIS asshole just browsing ebay looking to waste money? Why can't I find this sucker? I could buy a package of 24 rolls of toilet paper.....use 3 rolls, and sell him a 21 roll pack of toilet paper for the price I paid for the 24 pack. This guy is out there. He exists,. Who IS this guy??? Does he hate cheese???

And now that I think about it, there's the distinct possibility that this youtuber exists soley TO make these videos. Where the real purpose was to document the process to make a youtube video. Which would then insinuate that he doesn't care about video games at all. He doesn't care about the performance boost of the Retroid Pocket GS, or the fact that the Retroid Pocket 6 was announced the same day, but would release later with a substantial improvement. It was never about the performance. It was about making a video. To make money. Which means really this guy is just wasting everybody's time! And you know what? I can relate. I do that a lot. I waste everybody's time. I'm just not getting paid for it. Give me money! Money me now!

Why order online at all? I call them, on the telephone. I assume they're answering on a landline.

Then I say "Heeeeeey, I want a pizza, here's my address, make it happen, captain!"

And then we need to get more info, because saying "here's my address" doesn't actually give them my address, and they still need to know size and toppings.

But then they tell you an estimated wait. Eventually they send out a driver. If the wait is 15 minutes longer than the estimated wait, you call back, and be polite. You just say "heeeey, just checking on my order?"

And they say "Oh shit! Tony was smoking crack behind the dumpster again! We'll run yours out asap!"

And then you get your pizza.

I mean, it's just like the 1980s. You could request to sit in the non-smoking section, but let's be real, the whole building smelled of smoke no matter how far away you sat. Same thing here. You're going to catch a bit of second hand murder viewing. That's just how it goes sometimes.
