Isn't Monero (and other mechanisms) objectively better for all those things though?

But that's somewhat part of my calculus there. I think Bitcoin's cycles were entirely driven in a top-down way and that the entire financial side of the space was manipulated. I assume it began for political reasons and will end for political reasons as well.

For example some people believe cryptocurrency as a whole was a psyop to distract people from owning PMs and/or normalize digital currenecy. I don't fully buy into either thesis but don't fully dismiss them either.

What little I do understand leads me to believe that whatever the machinations are, they're much more convoluted than just "Bitcoin was made for X"

the weird thing is that I do see the right doing the same dance you describe, just from a different angle.
They don't understand how inflation and the cost of living rising has effectively priced people out of human labor outside of highly profitable (and often anti-social) rackets.

This segment of the right wants the young and the non-rich to effectively eat the (financial and social) costs associated with all of the above and thank them for the opportunity to build character.

I've been thinking for a while that the next big "culture war flashpoint" is going to be old vs young.

I'm not in progressive circles but i haven't seen them fighting for menial jobs at all but advocating for effective safety nets and cracking down on the overt corruption. Ironically it seems that UBI is the likely compromise between Progressives and power.
An exception would probably be customer service because people would much rather talk to an underpaid offshore human than an opaque and obtuse chatbot.

Hello, I'm Gabriel, my website is [gabe.rocks](https://gabe.rocks ). I'm fascinated and inspired by the free and open web and have really enjoyed my time on the Fediverse. I'm passionate about decentralization and censorship resistance, and like to put what I learn to practice.

Over the last few years, my gears have shifted to an intense (natural) weight loss mission. I'm down almost 280lbs down from 570. Being so large was very difficult and I've learned a lot getting to this point. I regularly record [walking monologues](https://gabe.rocks/tags/walk-with-gabe/ ) and the occasional video update as I make progress.

On the bigger picture, I am highly motivated to learn from others. I think the big problems of our time require us to actually spend the time to meaningfully understand other perspectives. This is what I love the most about being on the fedi, because authenticity is rich soil for both meaningful depth and variety.
