From 2006 - 2015, I ran SFD events, providing a venue to showcase and publicly celebrate what people in the local community were doing with #FOSS. It was a rewarding time, and we introduced many hundreds of people to the ideas and ideals of the Free Software movement.

Even though they can't use Apple's policies as justification anymore, Patreon are still very attached to wording that suggests they're going to retire their foundational billing models.

Also, apparently, Patreon are at least partly responsible for Apple being found in contempt of court rather than that being on Apple's shoulders. I don;t think that's how that works.

It's difficult to ignore the context of that happening alongside a bunch of other things that are antithetical to Mozilla/Firefox's past identity. I don't know much about "evil," but the continued corruption of something that was once beautiful is hard to view as good/acceptable. Like you say, this is nothing new - I think it's disappointing that this is the final straw, but I guess it's more visible to many than the past 5, 10, 15 years worth of bollocks.

It was raining today, so I didn't take my camera when I went out for my regular walk. I took shelter under a tree when the downpour picked up, and watched the baby magpie and its Dad forage. The baby was pressed up against a fence to keep out of the worst of it. Dad approached, and I backed further under the tree to give him room. The little one ran over, and the two of them got out of the rain. We hung out till it eased up, I said goodbye and left. When I was a few metres away, they flew off

Big ups and downs today. When I went for my afternoon walk, I found one of the baby butcherbirds on the ground (no photo). I'm absolutely devastated. Rationally, I know it's life and it happens, but in my heart, I can't help but think that if I hadn't skipped my morning walk, maybe something might have been different.

This morning, I think I witnessed a tussle, where two seemed to do some irritated buzzing at each other, and wrestle for a moment before one flew off. The other preened for a moment on the edge of this flower before flying away itself.

Still haven't seen more than three baby butcherbirds at once since they left the nest. I think either I'd misidentified an adult, or one didn't make it.

Baby wattlebirds are very independent now, still making baby sounds, but foraging and moving around on their own. I haven't seen an adult feed them for a while now.

Baby magpie seems to be foraging less on their own now and relying more on being fed by Dad. A surprise, since it seemed like they were being weaned weeks ago.
