In a better world, relay lists should contain the relay host (or better, its IP) AND its pubkey, and those pubkeys should be directly used in diffie-hellmann key exchange when initializing secure connection.

The problem with this approach is that there is - to my knowledge - no technology embedded in browsers by default that achieves it effectively.

But with major improvements, imho, by making it a static site that can easily be loaded locally and leveraging Blossom hosts to offload the content in a way that’s better than ActivityPub. Time will tell, but if video views on PeerTube are any indicator, I suspect Plebs will remain very niche. Though, I wish more people on Nostr would use it to post videos. I pumped a lot of “blood, sweat, and tears” in building it and I’d hate to see it go to waste and become abandonware. Actually nostr is very well positioned for this use-case with being inherently social + blossom servers becoming very common these days.

A way to monetize could be a service that provides extra bandwidth for popular podcasts around the release time when the load exceeds the blossom servers' capacity. Alternatively this task could be done in a crowdsourced way: allow anyone with bandwidth earn sats by providing the extra bandwidth, and you can take a cut for managing the connections. So many ideas and possibilities to explore.

I'm planning to release one episode of a podcast for my local community in January to shill nostr, and see how ready people are for this kind of goodness.

I am developing a library (https://www.npmjs.com/package/nostr-tribes) with the least amount of dependencies. It already depends on nostr-tools (this is its only dependency), and it is not the right time to add a new 8.7megs dependency to ndk (memory cache adapter depends on ndk main package).

In my mind this module should be more like a package that others depend on, instead of a package that depends on code that supports cashu, nutzaps, nip5 and so on.

Some other rules:
#meetup tag is mandatory in bio.
Organizer npub must be specified as a profile field

Then all we need is a client that fetches #meetup profiles from relays and displays them and their calendar events.

korábban én is nostr-rs-relay-t használtam, de amikor kiderült, hogy néha majdnem üres adatbázissal eltart 5-10 másodpercig, amíg válaszol, és néha ilyenkor se adja vissza a megfelelő eventeket - na ekkor lecseréltem szépen.

Minél többen vagyunk, akiknek megvan a skillje hogy a nostr-es eventeket tárolja, elérhetővé tegye, backupolja, átmozgassa egyik relay-től a másikra, fellőjje a műholdra, kiírja CD-re, elküldje postagalambbal, stb. - annál nehezebb lelőni a hálózatot, annál ellenállóbb lesz ez a nostr-nek hívott meta-lény. 👻

Inevitably WoT is great for the twitter/social use case - for loose live-together situations - but tribal mode is better in staying committed and achieving concrete goals.

No, Linux desktop will never will be polished, but it's as free as it can be. I use xfce4 as a window manager, which is quite simple, but featureful. Started with KDE, and never liked Gnome.

I've been using linux as desktop OS since 1998. Started with redhat, then changed to debian in 1999. For a long time I went with Debian, but there was a time when there was no new OS release for 2 years, which pushed me towards Arch Linux. I'm going back now.
