She grew up in the countryside and deeply cherished her life on the family farm. A few years later, she was joined by her brother, Otto. Marie loved school and fondly recalled riding her horse to class alongside Otto, fueled by her lifelong love for animals.<br/>Though she was unable to complete her formal education due to the untimely passing of her mother during her teenage years, Marie stepped into the role of homemaker, providing care and devotion to her small family. She often shared a lighthearted memory of her father’s passing years later, recalling how the doctor would tease her that it was due to her cooking.<br/>Marie later met and married Fredrick James Mennell. The couple eventually settled in Daysland, Alberta, where they welcomed their only child, a son, John Adam. Coming from humble beginnings, Marie and Fred lived a life content with few luxuries, focusing instead on family. Their journey later took them to Okotooks, before they moved north to Elmsworth, then to Valhalla Centre, and finally settled in Hythe.<br/>Marie will be lovingly remembered for her quick-witted sense of humor and her happy-go-lucky attitude. She loved Christmas and could be heard singing Carols and wishing all a Merry Christmas throughout the year.
