I talk about the <a class="hashtag" rel="tag ugc" href="https://btfree.social/hashtag/Fediverse">#Fediverse</a>; whenever I get a chance. The trick is being receptive, not pushy. Let them try it in their own time.

Only saying this because I now have two long time friends actively participating in the Fediverse where 6 months ago they had no interest.

One was even using an app with AP integration and didn't even know it.

Anecdotal? Absolutely! But our reality is built on our perceptions.

I know lots of folks are talking about Monthly Active Users when it comes to health of the Fediverse.

We use that to compare social medias and even ourselves, a social network, to each other.

I argue we should be focused on user engagement. I know LinkedIn has "impressions", but idk what that means.

So I wonder if there's a good way to generate this. Someone posting is the highest, commenting, subscribing, liking, disliking, and follow on down. I guess that would be a statistical model? But with diminishing returns. One SUPER ACTIVE ANNOYING poster does not a network make, but "media" it does.

I don't have a clue how this would work statistically. But I theorize, that while we're smaller MAU, our user engagement is significantly higher when population size is accounted for.

Is there any data anyone knows of to back this up or disapprove it? I'm pro [small.social](http://small.social) though, so maybe I'm wrong. Well I run [tubefree.org.](http://tubefree.org.) I know [Makertube.net](http://Makertube.net) is a good instance. I follow that instance. However, I trust the admins there, why not follow who they follow? Thus we have a chain of trust.

I was just thinking, it'd be really easy to boycott online services. But with so many mergers, and companies are so big, you never know who owns what anymore.

So I was wondering, have anyone made any kind of web browser extension that lets you list a company and you put in why you don't want to support them and it gets all of that company's holdings, and hell even friends, and when you go to that website it pops up a warning reminding you why you hate them and a list of alternatives to support?
