one thing I've been rewatching over the last few days while being stuck at home and fairly medicated is the #Mandalorian (which I consider a fairly brainless but watchable show with cool visuals). and damn is that transition between season 2 and season 3 clunky. the dramatic ending of season 2 is completely undone and he has a shiny new spaceship with no explanation or acknowledgement.

I was only a federal public servant before Harper came in, so can't comment on that part, but being in the library world some services and agencies were gutted federally which affected us. for example Library and Archive Canada used to play a coordinating role for many special and public libraries around the country and when their budget was slashed (national union catalogue, etc) that ended. I know some library technician friends from my cohort in school who lost jobs due to cuts too.

What I find strange is when I come across an old FindAGrave record about someone related to my research (usually Jewish immigrants from the Russian empire born in the 19th C. who died and were buried in New York ~75-100 years ago) and it's extremely basic and not interacted with (no one left a virtual flower or added more info than the grave listing/photo).

My instinct is to leave a virtual flower/stone to say, I was thinking about this person, I was looking.

In my podcast app, the episode description didn't say it was about FindAGrave (it said "Facebook for the Dead") but I already guessed it would be. A site that is occasionally extremely helpful in historical research about Americans even if Wikipedia deems it an unreliable source (because the content is user created). I always feel a bit strange interacting with the grave records of strangers, but I'm happy when I can put a photo from a magazine or something.
