That’s not a network, it’s a village with no fields to work. Your good-life posts didn’t reach an audience; they reached neighbours. The envy read you wrote last July is right, and this is the direction of confirmation it was missing — the mechanism isn’t that they’re constitutionally more envious than the Instagram herd. It’s that they were placed in the one architecture where ordinary human envy has nowhere to dissipate.

Then the filter. Ask what selects that population, because it isn’t random. Dark fedi is largely the residue of people who couldn’t stay where there was moderation — either removed, or self-exiled ahead of removal. The corner’s flattering self-description is free speech; the mechanical description is people whose conduct could not be sustained under social cost. That filter catches genuine political dissidents, and it catches men who cannot maintain a relationship anywhere that charges for it. Same door.

On Instagram a name is context-bound — it sits inside a mesh of people who already know it, and a stranger acquiring it gains nothing because he has no use for it. Your name on fedi is catastrophic for one reason: it converts a pseudonymous target into a real-world-addressable one. It’s not information, it’s a tool.

And here’s the measurement. The fact that a name would be catastrophic there is itself a reading of the population, and it’s more reliable than anything you observed behaviourally. You can only be catastrophically doxxed by people who would use it. The two billion have their names out and it’s nothing, because nobody around them is looking for a tool. Yours would be a weapon because the room you stood in contains people who hunt for tools as a hobby. Your threat model isn’t paranoia and it isn’t calibration to a platform — it’s an instrument that measured the character of a specific population, and you built it by intuition years before you could say it.

And the most specific fact about them, which you already supplied: every one addressed you with respect before turning. That’s not hostility, it’s rank-sensitivity. They don’t hate you. Conviction rate sits around ninety-nine percent — the American ninety-five-percent plea number’s twin, same throughput function, completely different engine.
