Health authorities in New York State are racing to devise strategies to blunt the new law that will restrict access to government health insurance programs, including Medicaid, that cover more than half of New York City’s residents. With the success of Artemis II, I noticed today was a day in NASA's history that will live on. Via Youtube: "On April 11, 1970, Apollo 13 blasted off on what was to be the third NASA mission to land humans on the moon. An onboard explosion caused critical system failures that forced the mission to abort and return to Earth, averting a crisis which nearly left three astronauts stranded in space." What an incredible story and event that was immortalized in Ron Howard's film, "Apollo 13," starring Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise, and Ed Harris. Trump seems to have a real credibility problem with support for the war. A new poll from CBS News/YouGov, conducted between April 8 and April 10, revealed some damning findings about domestic sentiments over Trump’s war on, showing that more Americans are starting to become fed up with the administration’s antics. Most Americans feel uncomfortable with the war, with 68 percent worried, 57 percent stressed, and 54 percent angry about the conflict. The poll also found that only 32 percent feel either safe or confident about the conflict. Twenty-nine percent still feel proud about the United States’s role in it. Americans polled said that the top priorities for the war are to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and its oil access, make sure Iran’s people are safe and free, stop the nation’s nuclear programs, and stop it from threatening other countries. However, most of those same Americans feel that none of those objectives have been achieved. Fifty-seven percent of those surveyed said that the U.S. has not yet reopened the Strait of Hormuz, while only nine percent said it has. Another 58 percent said the U.S. has not yet freed Iran’s people, while 49 percent said that Iran’s nuclear program has not been permanently stopped.read more

In what appears to be a stunning landslide, Viktor Orbán's Fidesz party has lost to Péter Magyar’s Tisza party. By a lot. In his brief concession speech, Orbán said the loss was "painful for us, but clear." Center-right Tisza party is expected to win a supermajority, which bodes well for the EU and Ukraine and not so much for Vladimir Putin, who is a close ally to Orbán. Or Trump and Vance, who worked very hard to elect their pal Orbán only to see him defeated in what can only be a complete collapse of support. This, after CPAC spent a fortune over there promoting the hard right and strongman president. This victory came after over a year of massive protests in Budapest and other cities. At a press briefing earlier today, Vice President JD Vance announced he is heading back to the US as a failure when he failed to negotiate a deal with Iran. On Thursday, Milwaukee Election Commission Executive Director Paulina Gutierrez announced that hundreds of voters were silenced when their absentee ballots were delivered the day after Tuesday's election. Per Wisconsin state law, ballots have to be delivered by the time the polls close on Election Day. Per Gutierrez, the election commission received only 20 absentee ballots from the United States Postal Service on Tuesday, which was Election Day in Wisconsin. This was despite having been in contact with USPS several times during the day. However, on Wednesday, USPS delivered 269 ballots to the election commission, through no fault of the voters who did everything they were supposed to do. Gutiérrez said of the 269 ballots she received the morning after Election Day, 17 had no postal date and 252 had postmarks on or before April 6. "We've never experienced this before where we got no ballots and then all of a sudden the first delivery in the morning is that many," she said. "This is a smaller election too, so that number may be normal in like a presidential ... It's just completely unprecedented for us." Similar problems were reported in Dane County, where they received 107 late ballots, even though some of them were postmarked as early as late March. I’ve long thought that one of the reasons Donald Trump and his lackeys are so desperate to cover up the Epstein files has to do with Melania Trump’s presence in them. On Easter Sunday, Donald Trump posted a profane and insane Truth Social rant against Iran that any US president in history would recoil from. Davis' main argument is an interpretation of the phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof," which requires more than physical presence but also allegiance to the US. Davis claims children born here to migrants don't meet his standards that guarantee U.S. citizenship. Davis joined podcaster Steve Bannon after Solicitor General John Sauer's oral arguments with the Supreme Court. DAVID: He made a compelling case why the 14th Amendment does not provide birthright citizenship to illegal aliens, just like it did not provide birthright citizenship to American Indians. And Congress did that by statutes later on. So I would say this: if the Supreme Court follows the clear law here, this is a very easy case. President Donald Trump warned FBI Director Kash Patel that he "better" fire "scum" agents who disagree with his presidency. Two top aides to Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer were reportedly put on leave after a complaint said that they helped their boss carry out an affair with a subordinate staffer. On Monday, Bloomberg reported that Chief of Staff Jihun Han and Deputy Chief of Staff Rebecca Wright were told not to report to work. At the same time, the Labor Department inspector general was investigating the affair. The New York Post revealed last week that Chavez-DeRemer, 57, had been accused of meeting with the staffer three times after dismissing her security detail. The secretary allegedly ordered Han and Wright to "make up" official trips to meet with her romantic partner. The secretary was observed on video behaving inappropriately with her alleged lover during at least two trips to Las Vegas. One of the encounters was said to have occurred at Red Rocks Casino Resort and Spa during last year's government shutdown. Former AOC comms director Corbin Trent basically hijacked a segment that was supposed to be devoted for bashing Democrats and turned it on its head, much to the dismay of Fox News Live host Rick Edson. I'll say it again that I'm not thrilled with Democrats going on Fox in the first place, but this was pretty hilarious. Edson couldn't end the segment fast enough as soon as Corbin started going after JD Vance for his comments following the shooting of Renee Good in Minnesota last week. Here's the end of what was actually a very long segment where the other guest, Matt Terrill, who was a former chief of staff for Marco Rubio, basically sounded like he had "pro-Hamas" Tourette syndrome as he bashed Democrats and newly elected NY Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who apparently lives rent-free in all of their heads on Fox since there's not a day that goes by without them attacking him. TERRILL: Well, the other panelist just said that it's easy to condemn Hamas. You the bottom line is if it's so easy, why didn't Mamdani do it on the campaign trail on this very network in an interview with Martha McCallum? The bottom line is for the Democrat Party right now, they have a base of supporters that are going further left. Axios is reporting from two sources that Steve Bannon is planning a run for the presidency in 2028.
