Truth is expensive. David Foster Wallace said the truth will set you free, but not until it is finished with you. <br/><br/>Telling the truth means killing the false self, and that death is painful because you’ve been identifying with that character for years. You’ve invested in them. You’ve protected them. You’ve let them run your life.<br/><br/>Worse, many of your relationships have bonded not with you, but with the liar, with the persona. And when you kill that persona, people will grieve it. Some will resent you. Some will leave. Some will tell you you’re not yourself anymore without realizing they never actually knew you in the first place.<br/><br/>People love the lie. It’s easier to love. Cleaner. More convenient.<br/><br/>When you start telling the truth, don’t expect applause. Expect resistance. Expect disappointment. As someone that is opposed to the state and democracy its very tiresome. I don't do this with the MAGA Christians I know nor the middle of the road Anti-MAGA Christians I know. <br/><br/>Most never talk about their deep seated political beliefs nor their deep seated theological beliefs which are the real issues. Not Christian Nationalism or the Woke Christians. This divide is nothing new.<br/><br/>Mostly it seems we have under-informed Christians allowing the media and social media to spin them up into a frenzy. Its sad. I usually feel like a therapist when I speak to Christian friends these days. I guess people used to assume they agreed on much more things. Now they realize they don't and they are all throwing a fit about it.<br/><br/>When you have heterodox views on modern politics as I do, you get used to being in the minority. Christians need to show grace to their brothers and sisters and seek to understand if they want to discuss such things. A 41% increase could just mean more shopping, not repenting.<br/><br/>You know what else is up? Porn subscriptions. Divorce rates. Kids leaving at 18. Church attendance down 30%.<br/><br/>Real revival is Nineveh fasting and begging for mercy. It’s Acts with people selling possessions and burning their old lives publicly. This is just consumerism with a Christian filter.<br/><br/>The Pharisees had the highest Bible literacy in history. Jesus called them whitewashed tombs. You can have a Bible and an app and still be spiritually dead.<br/><br/>Real test: Are marriages being saved? Addictions shattered? If no, it’s not revival. It’s marketing.<br/><br/>What killed Israel? Religion without repentance. “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”<br/><br/>If this was real revival, porn sites would lose traffic and churches would be full of broken people weeping.
