Portland police have a long history of not only protecting the far right but collaborating with them, including exchanging text messages with far right that included information on the location of anti fascists. The police union here also has a dark history that’s worth reading about. Formed in ‘42 and was the first successful police union in the country. The first president of the union, Otto Meiners, was a literal Nazi and a a former member of the pro Nazi German American Bund.

Portland police also used to have a “red squad” which was tasked with beating the shit out of and infiltrating, and surveilling labor organizers, communist, anarchists and lefty activists. There was lots of overlap between police in this squad and the Oregon KKK. I think it was around 1923 or so it was estimated at least half of the portland police bureau were members of the KKK. PPB still has a “red squad” it’s just not called that anymore and not as transparent about its purpose.

In the 80’s, portland police officers dropped dead possums in front of a Black soul food restaurant. Also in the 80’s, after Portland police murdered a Black man by putting him in a chokehold, cops sold "don't choke 'em, smoke 'em" t-shirts from one of the precincts on the day of his funeral.

In 2000 a PPB cop placed a shrine dedicated to Nazi soldiers at a public park. The city protected him after this and gave him a promotion almost 10 years later. Even after admitting he wore nazi uniforms and collected memorabilia he was never fired. He even received awards.

After Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson murdered Michael Brown, at least 3 PPB cops altered images of their police badges to say "I am Darren Wilson”

I could go on.. If you know about Oregon’s racist and dark history this probably isn’t a surprise but if not I highly recommend reading about it.

Far right instigator and grifter Peter Walter Patrick (aka Conspiretard), of Coos Bay, Oregon has taken to social media to claim an end to “Patriot Corner.” For those unfamiliar, that’s what the far right assholes have been calling the area at the Portland, OR ICE facility where the far right tends to gather as people protest against ICE. They frequently instigate altercations, start fights, and spew hateful rhetoric and slurs as obnoxiously as possible while manufacturing content and false narratives for their live streams and Twitter feeds.

He is claiming an end to this chapter and the beginning of what they are now calling “Rose City Patriots” (which lol because barely any of them are even from rose city). Their stated goal is to “stand firmly against Antifa” and attend more events and disrupt more protests outside of the ICE facility.

Not sure how much will actually change considering this group has already been showing up to other events outside of ICE in Portland. And although they have been relatively small, they have still been both violent and disruptive. Also worth noting with this shift the attempt to recruit more fascists. So just something to be aware of and be on the lookout for.

A few months ago Peter dressed up in a skull mask to menace children and families at a Coos Bay community dance and Pride event. He arrived with two other fash assholes, Chris Sims and Daniel Vrosh (Danny Rebel). They harassed the Pride Prom and drag show and attempted to intimidate attendees and event staff. The two people he showed up with (who are from Washington) also have quite the track record of inciting violence and harassing people. Including filming and harassing children during school walk outs. The three of them showed up to disrupt the All Ages Pride Prom Drag Show after a call to counter it was put out by right wing extremist Chris Tough aka "Himwho.” Chris has a long history of being affiliated with the areas far right street fighter types, including Proud Boys, Patriot Prayer, and threepers.

The strategy thus far has been PPB to be on standby nearby and come in to make targeted arrests before retreating again.

I am confident that DHS police and whatever feds are out on any given night are relaying identifying information to PPB who then come in for said targeted arrests. Also always assume and act as if there are definitely undercovers in the crowd. Just some things to be mindful of.

The other night I also heard DHS on radios relaying identifying information about a specific person- this included what they WERE wearing, as well as a description of what they changed into. Unsure if it was a de-bloc situation or changing clothes that were soaked in chemicals, but something to keep in mind either way. Changing your clothes means nothing if people see your change up

Portland for Palestine/P4P is no longer the only group operating in Portland as FRSO under a different name. They are now operating under “SDS,” “Portland Contra las Deportaciones,” “Awan,” and “Portland for Palestine.”

My name is Mahmoud Khalil and I am a political prisoner. I am writing to you from a detention facility in Louisiana where I wake to cold mornings and spend long days bearing witness to the quiet injustices underway against a great many people precluded from the protections of the law.

Who has the right to have rights? It is certainly not the humans crowded into the cells here. It isn’t the
Senegalese man I met who has been deprived of his liberty for a year, his legal situation in limbo and his
family an ocean away. It isn’t the 21-year-old detainee I met, who stepped foot in this country at age nine, only to be deported without so much as a hearing.

Justice escapes the contours of this nation’s immigration facilities.

On March 8, I was taken by DHS agents who refused to provide a warrant, and accosted my wife and me as we returned from dinner. By now, the footage of that night has been made public. Before I knew what was happening, agents handcuffed and forced me into an unmarked car. At that moment, my only concern was for Noor’s safety. I had no idea if she would be taken too, since the agents had threatened to arrest her for not leaving my side. DHS would not tell me anything for hours — I did not know the cause of my arrest or if I was facing immediate deportation. At 26 Federal Plaza, I slept on the cold floor. In the early morning hours, agents transported me to another facility in Elizabeth, New Jersey. There, I slept on the ground and was refused a blanket despite my request.

My arrest was a direct consequence of exercising my right to free speech as I advocated for a free
Palestine and an end to the genocide in Gaza, which resumed in full force Monday night. With January’s
ceasefire now broken, parents in Gaza are once again cradling too-small shrouds, and families are forced to weigh starvation and displacement against bombs. It is our moral imperative to persist in the struggle for their complete freedom.

I was born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Syria to a family which has been displaced from their land
since the 1948 Nakba. I spent my youth in proximity to yet distant from my homeland. But being
Palestinian is an experience that transcends borders. I see in my circumstances similarities to Israel’s use of administrative detention — imprisonment without trial or charge — to strip Palestinians of their rights. I think of our friend Omar Khatib, who was incarcerated without charge or trial by Israel as he returned home from travel. I think of Gaza hospital director and pediatrician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, who was taken captive by the Israeli military on December 27 and remains in an Israeli torture camp today. For Palestinians, imprisonment without due process is commonplace.

I have always believed that my duty is not only to liberate myself from the oppressor, but also to liberate my oppressors from their hatred and fear. My unjust detention is indicative of the anti-Palestinian racism that both the Biden and Trump administrations have demonstrated over the past 16 months as the U.S. has continued to supply Israel with weapons to kill Palestinians and prevented international intervention. For decades, anti-Palestinian racism has driven efforts to expand U.S. laws and practices that are used to violently repress Palestinians, Arab Americans, and other communities. That is precisely why I am being
targeted.

While I await legal decisions that hold the futures of my wife and child in the balance, those who enabled
my targeting remain comfortably at Columbia University. Presidents Shafik, Armstrong, and Dean
Yarhi-Milo laid the groundwork for the U.S. government to target me by arbitrarily disciplining
pro-Palestinian students and allowing viral doxing campaigns — based on racism and disinformation —
to go unchecked.

Columbia targeted me for my activism, creating a new authoritarian disciplinary office to bypass due
process and silence students criticizing Israel. Columbia surrendered to federal pressure by disclosing student records to Congress and yielding to the Trump administration's latest threats. My arrest, the expulsion or suspension of at least 22 Columbia students — some stripped of their B.A. degrees just weeks before graduation — and the expulsion of SWC President Grant Miner on the eve of contract negotiations, are clear examples.

If anything, my detention is a testament to the strength of the student movement in shifting public opinion toward Palestinian liberation. Students have long been at the forefront of change — leading the charge against the Vietnam War, standing on the frontlines of the civil rights movement, and driving the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Today, too, even if the public has yet to fully grasp it, it is students who steer us toward truth and justice.

The Trump administration is targeting me as part of a broader strategy to suppress dissent. Visa-holders, green-card carriers, and citizens alike will all be targeted for their political beliefs. In the weeks ahead, students, advocates, and elected officials must unite to defend the right to protest for Palestine. At stake are not just our voices, but the fundamental civil liberties of all.

Knowing fully that this moment transcends my individual circumstances, I hope nonetheless to be free to witness the birth of my first-born child.

In the Fall of 2024, several dozen trees in the Harborton Reliability Project area were spiked. Metallic and ceramic spikes were used, and between one to three spikes were placed in each selected tree.

We waited before sending this message in order to give time for legal advocacy groups to do their work, and also to let any traces of our presence decay into the loam.

Now, the project continues despite the efforts of the community, and the area threatened to be destroyed has grown.

It is now our time to get to work to defend forest park.

About a dozen cops showed up to the community free store again tonight. Before anyone had even arrived to set up, Jessie Burke, CEO and partner at The Society Hotel, was standing on the corner where folks usually set up with her husband speaking to a handful of police. Burke has a history of being hostile to the houseless community and those providing them resources. People ended up setting up just around the corner from where the free store typically is on Thursdays. Eventually, the police followed and surveilled from across the street for a while and eventually left. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were thrown off by how many people there were.

I think tonight displayed a successful community defense. While the police were still busy in the initial location with some people who stayed back to argue with them and the police tried to figure out if people had given up, others were around the corner setting up. When I first approached the distro setup in the new area, I was surprised by how many people there were. Not just the usual distro folks and people seeking resources, but others there to support and help keep the distro going even in the face of realtime repression. It wasn’t an ideal location to setup by any means, but people thought quick and didn’t let that ridiculous police response stop the distro from going on.

Forest Park to allow PGE to expand. Their goal is to begin this spring. This is 15 more acres than originally reported when this was first proposed.

What is the Harborton Reliability Project?

PGE wants to build new transmission lines from the new Harborton substation to Linton to Hillsboro. This lines up with where Intel plans to build a new semiconductor fabrication plant in the next five years, in addition to rebuilding their existing plant.
These expansions are largely aimed to serve the expansion of Intel and other big tech companies in Silicone Forest (which the city is also trying to expand). Each plant consumes as much electricity as 50,000 homes so the timing and location of this PGE update seems a little more than coincidental. Motivations aside, The Harborton Project started by proposing clear cutting a minimum of 6 acres through the park and putting up a line that would connect to the existing lines owned by the Bonneville Power Administration west of the current project area.

This project area is near the Harborton frog crossing, and it would demolish a wetland home to the red-legged frog that is federally recognized as a species of concern and protected in Oregon. While the initial "Project Area" designated by the PGE Harborton Fact Sheet only illustrated the first 6 acres to be cut headed west, it did not indicate how many additional acres of the park would need to be sacrificed to the southern leg of the project. A year ago, the PGE Harborton Project webpage passively mentioned an additional two phases to this project being in early planning stages but they craftily omitted that they had already obtained the permits for putting in underwater cables down the Columbia and Willamette to the Linnton substation.

PGE’s revised land-use application filed with the City of Portland proposed to clear cut 4.7 acres of 150+ year old Douglas fir and bigleaf maple trees and proposes to remove 5 white oak trees estimated to be 170-500 years old. In total, the proposal included the removal of 376 living trees, and 21 dead trees. It will permanently fill at least two wetlands and disrupts two streams that support multiple species of aquatic wildlife. That’s all when it was still 4.7 acres.

They slowly added more phases to their project as things progressed, which means more clear cutting of Forest Park. According to PGE, phase 5 of this project may also impact an additional 15 acres of Forest Park to the northwest and west potentially disrupting the Miller Creek watershed which contains salmon habitat. So it’s still unclear just *how much* they intend to clearcut, something PGE has been intentionally vague and confusing about from the early planning stages.

If you’ve never been to the Thursday free store location or are unfamiliar with the area… it’s usually somewhere off 3 or 4th and Flanders in downtown. Right by the Blanchet House. There is really not much going on around there.. a car will drive by every now and then, but it’s a very sparse traffic area. Same with foot traffic. Outside of people there for the free store, hardly anyone walks by. The community free store doesn’t bother anyone, it isn’t loud, not once has it blocked traffic, nothing. It’s even pretty hidden away.

There is no way to justify this.

Yesterday at the community free store's Thursday distro, Portland Police arrived and began to harass community members both seeking and distributing resources. Around 6:00 PM, a group of about four officers approached as people were still setting up. They informed those present that the tables on the sidewalk needed to be removed or citations would be issued. Moments later, without any warning or explanation, an officer grabbed an individual by one of the tables, forced them to their knees, and restrained their hands behind their back. They were then dragged across the street, handcuffed, and placed in a squad car where they were held for 30 minutes before being released. When asked why they were being arrested, an officer said that they were just detaining people to get their identification.

In a matter of minutes, police went from supposedly being there because of the tables to detaining people they claimed were on the street. Soon after, the police presence intensified, with at least 11 squad cars present and over 20 officers on foot, filling an entire city block. Multiple people walking by asked if someone had been shot. It should be noted that PPB consistently complains about staff shortages but they have no issue sending out an insane amount of resources to harass and assault the houseless community and those helping them.

After the first arrest, I was standing on the sidewalk when two officers approached me, pulled me into the street, and restrained my hands behind my back. One officer repeatedly presented me with two options: accept a citation or go to jail.
Feeling angry and unjustly accused, I remained silent, refusing to comply with an unfair choice. When I didn't respond as he hoped, I was handcuffed and taken back to the sidewalk.
Eventually, I was released with a citation, which I believe was for impeding traffic, though the details are illegible.

During this incident, 3 people total were detained and cited, others were also subjected to harassment and being assaulted by the police, and citations were issued to parked cars nearby.

The community free store has become an essential resource in Portland, flourishing over the past year. It provides hot food, water, snacks, seasonal clothing, hygiene and medical supplies, tents, blankets, and more-resources that can be lifesaving.

Since January 2nd, the police have increasingly targeted the community free store. Initially, they surveiled from their vehicles, but soon escalated to recording from a distance, questioning individuals in groups, and gathering intelligence. Yesterday marked a significant escalation of their tactics.

As in previous encounters, when PPB threatened to cite individuals, many who relied on these vital resources left empty-handed. This intimidation strategy effectively discourages vulnerable populations from seeking help. Which is of course intentional. The police's actions also aim to instill fear among those distributing resources and to deter future congregation and participation. Detaining and citing individuals also serves to identify them for further intelligence gathering on these communities.

Mutual aid efforts, the poor, and houseless communities have long faced repression and state-sanctioned violence. The autonomy and self-reliance fostered by these community initiatives challenge state authority and control over our lives. It is not uncommon for those involved in mutual aid to experience harassment, surveillance, physical violence, arrests, and citations. The state utilizes various repressive measures, criminalizing mutual aid activities and deploying law enforcement to disrupt gatherings. This situation highlights the ongoing tension between state power and community resilience, emphasizing the urgent need to protect mutual aid as a crucial form of organization that addresses systemic inequalities and promotes collective empowerment.

I was standing on the sidewalk and pulled off by cops who then handcuffed me and held me for over 30 minutes. I was let go with a citation for impeding traffic I think, the citation is not legible so not entirely sure and the cops didn’t tell me what the citation was.

IFF is a far right lobbying group, and they are a major player in Idahos politics with a lot of power and influence, and are deeply tied to the far right. In 2022, 9 candidates who were not endorsed by the IFF say they were stalked, harassed, doxxed, and feared for their safety due to threats from white supremacists- several of which withdrew from the races because of this. One of the candidates even had a far right group doing “training sessions” outside of her home to intimidate her.

Yesterday, a woman was detained by three men who
refused to identify themselves for speaking during a Kootenai County Republican Central Committee town hall and pointing out that town halls are supposed to feature citizen comment. The men who detained her were not wearing any badges or security labels/company logos. They were carrying zip ties on them, and were handing out religious Christo-fash pamphlets. Some of the material they were passing out was titled “prayer guide for state legislators - make America righteous again”

The woman illegally detained is Teresa Borrenpohl. Other people (all democrats, according to local media) who tried to help were also detained. Additional footage displays an off duty officer attempting to remove her before the men in black did. He threatened to use force against her and threatened anyone who was filming.

The town hall took place at a high school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Local Idaho media claims that her violent removal was initiated by County Sheriff Bob Norris before involving LEAR Asset management, a private security firm with alleged ties to sheriff Norris.

A group called the puppygirl hacker polycule has leaked thousands of police training & policy manuals from departments across the country from Lexipol.

Lexipol is the name of the private company that develops policy manuals, training bulletins, and consulting services for first responders. It is the number one company writing policies that protect cops nationwide. It was founded by two police officers turned lawyers in 2003. Texas Law Review called them the “dominant force in police policymaking across the country,” despite the existence of other companies and nonprofits doing similar work.

The company drafts policies and manuals on matters ranging from use of force, less-lethal alternatives to rules surrounding confidential informants and high-speed chases. When speaking on Lexicon, DDoSecrets said “there is little transparency on how decisions are made to draft their policies, which have an oversized influence on policing in the United States.”

In 2017, the ACLU demanded that Lexipol “eliminate illegal and unclear directives that can lead to racial profiling and harassment of immigrants.” One year later, the ACLU said that Lexipol’s policies led an officer in the city of Spokane, WA to unlawfully detain and hold the victim of a car accident to be questioned by immigration authorities.

In 2015, Kris Jackson, a Black 22 year old, got into an argument with his partner. Police ended up knocking on the door and Jackson decided he didn’t want to deal with them as he was on probation. He tried leaving through the bathroom window when an officer rounded the corner of the building and saw Jackson hanging out the window. The cop immediately shot him, claiming he “looked aggressive” and that he had a gun. There was no gun found and Jackson died at the hospital.

Officer Klinge was not charged, of course, and received a payed vacation before quietly retiring. Jackson’s parents ended up filing a lawsuit against the officer, several police department staff, and the city of South Lake Tahoe, arguing that not only had Klinge used excessive force against their son, but that the police department had an illegal policy allowing him to do so. That policy, written by a company called Lexipol, stated that officers could use deadly force to protect themselves or others from any “imminent” threat of serious injury or death. An “imminent” threat, the policy explained, was broader than an “immediate” threat such as someone pointing a gun.

In getting ready for today’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, state police and other law enforcement agencies directed by the Louisiana governor, Jeff Landry, forced over 100 houseless folks onto buses under threat of arrest. They were dumped in an unheated warehouse, all of their belongings are lost and their tents have been destroyed.

When one unhoused man told state police he didn't want to go the warehouse, the officers responded, “It’s either that or jail.”

The man offered to move somewhere else but was told: “No, you can come with us or we’ll cuff you and throw you in jail.” He complied and was bussed to the warehouse, where he was processed and given an identification bracelet.

Other unhoused people, including one woman still wearing a hospital bracelet, had been forced to quickly abandon all their possessions as officers descended and began to rip apart their tents with knives and a Caterpillar front-end loader, according to witnesses.

Three days before police began sending unhoused community members to the warehouse prison, New Orleans chief of staff/city council member visited the warehouse. She wrote in her affidavit that “the warehouse had no floor, and I was told by [on-site] staff that the walls had no insulation”. Rain leaked through holes in the roof, pooling on the ground near the sleeping area. There are also no eye level windows. New Orleans is also experiencing historic snowfall.

Workforce Group, the company that received the operating contract for the warehouse is politically connected to Governor Landry. They’re charging $17.5 million for 3 months. “The price tag is also equivalent to a year’s rent for a one-bedroom apartment for 1,177 people, which would constitute roughly 80% of New Orleans’ unhoused population.”

Not only were the cops protecting the nazis as usual, but other footage shows police getting violent and pushing Black people down to the ground in order to protect the nazis and get them away. The response today was honestly remarkable. This wasn’t a planned counter-action. It was a spontaneous response that was both community defense and direct action. They still persisted and showed no fear in directly confronting nazi scum. And they made the unbadged nazis leave.

Most of the crowd trickled out within 10 minutes of the rain falling. Still around 200 or so people but numbers are dwindling down quickly.

At its peak there was probably around 1,000 people. The crowd stayed on both sides of the sidewalk facing the main road. It ended up being a flag/sign wave at cars driving by and periodic chanting. Cars passing by were overwhelmingly in support. Nonstop honking and many cars driving by waving Mexican flags.

The crowd was very politically diverse. There was all the “stop the steal” signs and “lock him up chants” but also pockets where folks were chanting things like “hey hey, ho ho, nazi fucks have got to go” and holding antifascist and anarchist signs. There were lots of American flags and a chant of “this is what democracy looks like.”

There were cops nearby watching almost at all times. At one point, a group of older white ladies saw a group of bike cops. They started pointing and being like “omg! Antifa is here!! They’re in all black! Get them out!” which… first, lol… and second, is this not an antifascist protest ? Another older person interjected and said “those are cops, I am antifa” and that really threw them off.

Not much to update. But I think at some point a conversation about all the paranoia regarding the 50501 flyers is worth having.

Cops have nothing better to do than harass unhoused people. So many people who wanted food, shelter, warm clothes and other resources left with nothing because the cops showed up. They were trying to question people and taking down all the license plates.

Never talk to cops. A few weeks ago at the Thursday free store a squad car drove by. They decided to proceed with sentencing today. The DA requested one year bench probation and 60 hours of community service.

The defense attorney just brought up a previous case as legal precedent in which the defendant was found guilty on the exact same charges, and just like the defendant from today, they never denied being in the area and had their case dismissed during sentencing.
