Maybe I should prepare a newspaper issue for when Iran drops the dollar?

My gut tells me the rumors are true.

Reason tells me the rumors are either false or a huge deal, because if it was no big deal, mainstream media would be running their canned responses already. It seems like the American military industrial complex was so caught off guard by this, big players are keeping talking heads quiet while they scramble to make moves that rely on being early with the information.

“There are no universities left in Gaza” read the sign today by an abandoned protest site at Mantor Library. Last night, the free paper's one-man news team was there to hand out copies of yesterday's issue. It was a late time to arrive, but this University of Maine at Farmington library had the nearest gathering of protesters to be found in Maine. There were still a few people standing & talking next to a couple of tents. Today (Tuesday), none of them were here to interview, though the plan had been to continue for another day. What remained was the sign, and some banners and pins. There were no reports of what happened online or from others in the area.

With 2 weeks left before graduation, students at New York City's Columbia University have chosen a different approach. Instead of being forced to leave, some protesters have occupied a building on campus. Mainstream media tries to portray the scene there as chaotic. Live streams of the exterior area can be found online, where it was mostly a quiet day until hundreds of cops arrived recently.

The building is Hamilton Hall. Construction saboteurs protesting war crimes in Vietnam🇻🇳 barricaded themselves inside over 50 years ago. Today's incident is the fifth such one there so far, and the first since before Julian Assange and Edward Snowden were international fugitives. The war crimes this time are in Gaza, where families are walled in, being starved to death and bombed.

These protests were initially based on demands for universities to stop supporting the genocide in Gaza. Instead of agreeing to stop doing business with Israel, many universities have escalated with police violence. In the slew of free speech violations sweeping the nation, Columbia University revoked the ability for students involved in this protest to graduate, then continued threatening the students with further action, prompting the takeover of Hamilton Hall.

The message is clear: universities like Columbia would rather have incidents like this than attract students committed to goodie-two-shoes morals like genocide avoidance.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu no longer seems interested in pretending to negotiate. Palestinian militant groups haven't been interested in fake negotiations for a while anyway. They already humored western audiences with a ceasefire deal near the beginning of all this warfare, back in November, though they had no reason to trust the deal. Israel spent a few days violating the deal, trying to provoke Hamas to end the ceasefire. Hamas kept being patient, refusing to take action that would justify portraying them as traitors. Israel gave up and declared an end to the ceasefire themselves. Corporate media in the U.S. still blamed Hamas for the ceasefire ending.

Rafah is a city turned refugee camp by getting bombed less than other parts of Gaza. Over a million refugees are there. According to the head of the UN’s refugee organization, deadly attacks and threats against Rafah have resulted in a state of "constant traumatic stress disorder” for them.

It seems the world always has time for another megalomaniacal dictator's legacy to be built on a “final solution” or a “total victory.”

Been having each issue's PDF printout refer back to the same issue on nostr, but since a nostr URL isn't assigned until the post is made & can't properly support editing at that URL, this requires me to wait until after posting the full issue before adding a link to the PDF to my nostr profile. I'm also doing 2 versions of each PDF, the first with a link to the nostr copy, and the second with links to both the nostr copy and the first PDF. I think I should be more efficient in future issues by having the first gen PDF not link to the nostr copy, so that the nostr copy can link to it. Then the list of PDF links updated with each issue can still contain the 2nd gen printout. I'll probably also start doing the link lists as replies to each issue instead of standalone posts

Throughout the past winter, the people of Gaza have been victims of continued escalation by mainly Israeli and American terrorists who have killed over 8,400 women and 14,500 children. Some of these deaths are by starvation, and other consequences of Israel’s blockade against entering or exiting the Gaza Strip.

Coming out of winter, the warmer weather has encouraged protesters to take to the streets and the college campuses. Some of these protests are going 24 hours a day, and by the time one is shut down, another has started; thus, there have been gatherings nonstop for a few weeks now where protesters demand an end to the mass murder. These demonstrations haven't escalated into riots, and luckily this civil conflict in the US has remained non-lethal at these events in recent weeks. However, further escalation continues to be instigated by the corrupt authorities. Protests have been repeatedly interrupted by police violence like anyone familiar with the US would have predicted. Police at Emory University even briefly tortured one restrained protester with a “stun gun” on video. Universities such as Emory can take the blame for incidents such as this. Faculty and university executives have participated in violating the rights of their students instead of protecting the safety of campus communities.

There's been widespread reporting on the UCLA campus, where conflicting groups of protestors have gathered and gotten into fights.

Even the national newspaper of Qatar🇶🇦 has reported on the ongoing gathering at George Washington University, where the protesters against genocide have found strong roots. Today, live streams of this protest and others can be found online.

If you want to join, you may be able to find a gathering close enough to you. Of course, in the long run, it's more effective to protest with the choices you make every day. The most important thing most people can do might be asking others why Assange & Snowden haven't been pardoned. If you use the internet, you can block ads and trackers on corporate platforms, but there are also decentralized platforms you can use instead, such as an experimental Twitter clone called Nostr. For people with any wealth, keep savings in real money, such as gold, silver, or cryptocurrency; this not only prevents your money from being lent out for the military industrial complex's purposes, but also prevents them from taxing your savings via inflation when they print money to cover expenses.

Major corporate newspaper recognizes need for geoengineering in face of climate change

Their article mistakenly refers to a 1.5° increase in Earth's temperature as “inevitable” rather than “past.” They vaguely mention that this level of warming has catastrophic consequences.

They talk about the general concept of deflecting the sun's heat, but the only specific solution they suggest is polluting the atmosphere with sulfur to combat greenhouse gas pollution. In each issue published so far, the editorial board here at Free Newspaper Printed By Whoever has advised against such solutions, instead suggesting a solar-shielding ring made out of the moon. This suggestion may sound ridiculous, but it would actually be quite easy for robots to use material from the moon to make a ring around the earth. The hardest parts would be convincing the public to allow tampering with their precious moon, then rapidly mass-producing and deploying robotic landers in a controlled manner. It's worth noting that atmospheric sulfur is well-understood to cause acid rain.

GWU REPORT: NATIONAL SECURITY RISKS GROW WITH NEW NUCLEAR ENERGY

Drone strikes against Ukraine’s nuclear reactors highlight risks

WASHINGTON, DC – April 23, 2024 – Proliferation of nuclear weapons, nuclear terrorism, sabotage, coercion and military operations – these risks associated with nuclear energy can all be expected to grow as countries seek to implement their new nuclear energy objectives, according to a new report published today by George Washington University’s (GWU) Sharon Squassoni. The aim of 22 countries to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050, announced on the margins of COP-28, was adopted with little thought to the national security implications. The promotion of small modular reactors (SMRs)– specifically tailored to developing countries – will heighten, not diminish risks.

The report by GW professor Sharon Squassoni, “New Nuclear Energy: Assessing the National Security Risks,” comes as drone strikes against Ukrainian nuclear power plants highlight nuclear reactor vulnerabilities. Other national security risks will accompany significant nuclear growth as renewed interest in nuclear energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions sparks programs across the globe. Squassoni, a professor at GWU’s Elliott School of International Affairs, now researches risk reduction from nuclear energy and nuclear weapons after serving in the State Department, Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and the Congressional Research Service.

Proliferation and nuclear terrorism are the top two national security risks, but sabotage, coercion and military operations pose other risks. An attempt to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers – a national security risk itself — using nuclear energy could worsen the risk of proliferation by motivating fuel cycle independence. SMRs are still in development, with few restrictions on designs. Reactors fueled with highly enriched uranium or plutonium will increase risks of proliferation and terrorism because those materials are weapons-usable. Reactors designed to include lifetime cores will build up plutonium over time. Fast reactor designs that require reprocessing, especially continuous recycling of fuel, could ultimately confer latent nuclear weapons capabilities to many more states. In sum, the kinds of reactors now under consideration do nothing to reduce known risks, and some pose heightened risks. There appears to be no attempt to forge agreement among suppliers or governments to restrict reactor choices that pose greater proliferation risks.

If the mass production of small modular reactors lowers barriers to entry into nuclear energy, there will be many more states deploying nuclear power reactors, including those with significant governance challenges. Russian and Chinese programs to promote nuclear energy target many of those states. Cooperation among key states essential to minimize the safety, security and proliferation risks of nuclear energy is at an all-time low. The call to triple nuclear energy coincides with the disintegration of cooperation, the unraveling of norms and the loss of credibility of international institutions that are crucial to the safe and secure operation of nuclear power.

Been having each issue's PDF printout refer back to the same issue on nostr, but since a nostr URL isn't assigned until the post is made & can't properly support editing at that URL, this requires me to wait until after posting the full issue before adding a link to the PDF to my nostr profile. I'm also doing 2 versions of each PDF, the first with a link to the nostr copy, and the second with links to both the nostr copy and the first PDF. I think I should be more efficient in future issues by having the first gen PDF not link to the nostr copy, so that the nostr copy can link to it. Then the list of PDF links updated with each issue can still contain the 2nd gen printout. I'll probably also start doing the link lists as replies to each issue instead of standalone posts

A week ago, Iran launched a barrage of missiles into Israel, resulting in 1 death: an Israeli child. This attack came in response to an attack on Iran's consulate in Syria. The US and other powers urged Israel to frame the lack of further casualties as a win, restraining from further attacks, as tensions in the region threaten catastrophic consequences for the world. Israel issued increasingly explicit warnings to Iran over the following days, ignoring the warnings publicly issued by the US. However, Israel has not initially claimed credit for this new retaliatory attack on Iran.

It's dubious how the US claims to be urging Israel to de-escalate. Biden hasn't even offered pardons to Edward Snowden or Julian Assange, let alone actually pardoned both, to begin earning trust.
There doesn't seem to be much likelihood that the US will stop providing aid to Israel, including weapons specially designed for committing terrorist attacks. American leadership is clearly choosing to gamble a regional war in the Middle East, hoping to continue expanding the global influence of the military industrial complex with violence against fossil-fuel-rich adversarial powers like Iran & Palestine (who the US just vetoed UN membership for).
Palestinian health authorities have reported the death toll in Gaza to surpass 34,000 today, still mostly women and children. At least 8,000 more are missing. According to the UN, more than 18,000 children have also been orphaned in the onslaught since October 7.

About half of the people in Gaza are under 18, due to high birth rates driven by an instinctive rush to maintain the population against Israeli oppression. Gaza grows increasingly cramped with its growing population, as Israel has spent years blocking most entry and exit from Gaza's small land area. This has gotten much worse since October 7, as Israel has destroyed buildings all over Gaza, leaving vast numbers of people homeless in massive refugee camps. Of course, cramped space has become the least of their worries in this time, as they face bombings, shootings, and a lack of sufficient food, safe water, medical resources, and sanitary facilities.

It makes sense that Iran has suggested they don't plan to retaliate this time. They surely did not intend for their recent attack on Israel to result in the lone death of a young Israeli girl; it's a worst-case outcome. It's demoralizing to everyone on Iran's side and it incites the wrath of Israel's side. Iran's best bet now is to accept the loss of this exchange and focus on preparing for whatever Israel will do next. Iran can't afford to keep making moves that give the appearance of wanting escalation; they must wait for Israel to make moves to start the war.

It also makes sense that Israel would ignore warnings & escalate further. Biden told Netanyahu to frame the outcome of Saturday's attack as a win. The death of a little girl is not a win for either side. Of course Netanyahu would react. Both sides still want oil, after all.
Ukraine has reportedly also followed the lead, ignoring US warnings against drone operations in Russia.

Online position reporting indicated the Aries was again underway to India, but it turns out these systems shouldn't be relied on for a situation like this without confirmation from human sources.

An update from Mediterranean Shipping Company on Wednesday reported that the crew is still stuck in Iranian waters for days now. They are reported safe and the company is working to get them released, as well as the cargo. The company's statement also corrected widespread reporting which called them the owners of the vessel; it is in fact owned by Gortal Shipping Inc. and merely chartered by MSC. Both of these companies appear to be under the umbrella of Zodiac Maritime, owned by an Israeli billionaire.

RETRACTION: SEIZED CARGO SHIP MSC ARIES NOT YET RELEASED BY IRANIAN NAVY

On Sunday, this newspaper mistakenly reported that the MSC Aries, a cargo ship seized by Iran, had been quickly released. This mistake was caused by an inexperienced one-man news team rushing to beat mainstream media's reporting by relying on live tracking websites which report updated locations for cargo ships worldwide. Online position reporting indicated the Aries was again underway to India, but it turns out these systems shouldn't be relied on for a situation like this without confirmation from human sources.

An update from Mediterranean Shipping Company on Wednesday reported that the crew is still stuck in Iranian waters for days now. They are reported safe and the company is working to get them released, as well as the cargo. The company's statement also corrected widespread reporting which called them the owners of the vessel; it is in fact owned by Gortal Shipping Inc. and merely chartered by MSC. Both of these companies appear to be under the umbrella of Zodiac Maritime, owned by an Israeli billionaire.

2 weeks ago, after months of Israeli war crimes against Iran's allies across the region, Iran's own consulate in Syria was hit with a deadly attack.
A response came 2 days ago with a warning shot of missiles fired from Iran and allies into Israel, whose military claimed to intercept 99% of them.
No fatalities were immediately reported, but a little girl was reported to be in critical condition, and later died. She is reported to have been hit by shrapnel from a missile which was prevented by defense systems from reaching the city it targeted.
No offers have been made for any of these defense systems to protect hospitals in Gaza from missile strikes like the one the US and Israel jointly claim was accidentally launched at Al-Ahli hospital by Palestinian Islamic Jihad in October. The US and Israel have probably waited too long to release aerial footage supporting their claim, despite extensive aerial surveillance covering the small area of the Gaza Strip at all times.
Conspiracy theorists have pointed out that the American military industrial complex (including the Israeli military) wouldn't hesitate to kill its own side's civilians during enemy attacks in order to blame enemies. However, it wouldn't be reasonable for anyone but the girl’s family to demand proof in this matter. For the rest of the world, it must be treated as possible that this did or did not happen exactly as reported.
Either way, it is undeniably a tragic failure on Iran's part to have prompted the death of a little girl and zero adults during their foray into this war. It doesn't help that Iran remained passive as thousands of Palestinian children were killed by Israel, only to finally cite the death of an Iranian military leader as justification for striking. Perhaps a warning shot of missiles is also never a wise idea, as military leaders around the world might repeatedly learn the hard way, in their constant struggle to understand the concept of missiles.
While Iranian leaders are surely praying over this outcome, allies across the region are thankful for this direct assistance finally being provided by Iran, a country with much more military force available than any of the others. The resistance cannot see any path to victory without Iran, which is always in such tension with Israel that its involvement is seen as a precursor to any possible support from other formidable powers of the Islamic community: Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, where leaders haven't been trying to enter the war.
One member of the Israeli war cabinet commented on how Hamas, the smallest group fighting Israel, has been the most dangerous threat. “The weakest enemy in the Middle East has done us the most damage,” he told reporters at a conference. This statement subtly casts light on Iran doing the least damage as the strongest enemy in the region. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani says the world “should appreciate Iran’s restraint in recent months” and remember the brutal force always being shown by the empire Iran is fighting against.
Between the launch of the missiles and the sad outcome's reveal, people in Iran had a wide range of reactions. Many celebrated, while many others formed long lines at gas stations. While Iran is rich in oil, they have long struggled to develop their refinery industry, making it wise for the people of Iran to stock up on gasoline at this crossroads of international instability.
In the immediate aftermath of the attack, as most of it had been intercepted and there didn't seem to be much of an aftermath, the US dollar and Israeli shekel gained value against oil. The US dollar always gains value against oil when people expect less warfare, and loses value when the expectations for warfare increase. This is because the US is mainly funded by inflation, and increased warfare comes with increased cost, resulting in more dollars being printed into the military industrial complex (including the oil industry). In this case, the effect is especially strong. The dollar is under threat from the worldwide uprising against this American military industrial complex. If the US and Israel could displace and/or genocide Palestine while taking over Iran, that would probably buy the dollar some time. If Iran can instead lead an alliance to show inspiring resistance against Israel and turn Saudi Arabia against the US, that's probably game over for the petrodollar. Either of these seem possible, or anything in between, so the situation in Israel is the biggest factor to look at right now in trying to guess what will happen to the dollar (and when).
In the US, President Biden has been trying to portray hesitancy around his involvement in war crimes. For the past few weeks, his statements have made it sound as though he's just along for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's wild ride, begging him to stop making the American people help with war crimes, but seeing no way out. It's a strategy to keep the general public calm by acting increasingly aligned with the public interest as elections approach, to make it feel more like votes matter. This has been well-timed with the weeks leading up to Iran joining the war, as the next Presidential election cycle is gaining prominence, and now Biden can use Iran to drum up support while saying he's tried to avoid war crimes.
Over the past 2 days, Biden has been making the most of the opportunity provided by Iran's attack. He's promising more military aid to Israel while they continue to massacre people in Gaza, Lebanon, and elsewhere, but only if Israel helps Biden look more heroic by giving him credit for delaying escalation with Iran. He reportedly told Netanyahu “you got a win - take it” in a discussion after Saturday's thwarted attack. Netanyahu reportedly did not ask Biden about Presidential pardons for Edward Snowden or Julian Assange a single time before, during, or after this conversation. Today, Israel warned Iran that there are still plans for further response to Saturday's attack.
If Biden and Netanyahu cannot displace and/or genocide Palestine and get away with it, then Netanyahu will have to serve as a scapegoat, whether willingly or unwillingly. Biden may find himself in the same position, despite his recent efforts to avoid it. Mainstream media will want some narrative to feed the general public about how leadership is changing and the new leadership can be seen as unrelated to the decision-makers that have crushed Gaza and escalated conflict across the Middle East. Blaming Netanyahu might not look good enough.
In addition to the one girl reported dead as a direct result of Iran's attack (and aside from Israel's attacks on neighboring states), there may have been other murders in Israel on the same day inspired by the attack or considered linked to it.

The boat is big. It was carrying 25 crew and thousands of tons of cargo through Iran's Strait of Hormuz when Iran's Navy boarded and seized it for a brief time yesterday. It's called the Aries, owned by Mediterranean Shipping Company, and flies the flag of Portugal, but is reported to have connections with Israel. The crew must have been betting it wouldn't be too big of a deal in this case, and indeed, the cargo ship was released after a few hours. It is now underway to India, where most of its crew are from. They have complained about the level of aggression and force directed at them by Iran's Navy in this incident.

Middle Eastern countries such as Palestine and Israel have good reason to be defensive of their fossil fuels. Secular leaders in the Middle East see climate change as a more immediate threat to their home than to places like North America. Islamic leadership is more focused on competing with those outside Islam in general. These groups are increasingly united in needing to protect themselves and each other for survival against outside forces like the United States, where the general public demands low gas prices, and the United States is thusly compelled to work with Israel on Israel's terms.
Yesterday's attack came with other countries across the region assisting Iran, days after Israeli forces attacked Iran's consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus. The attackers killed Iranian officials there, including Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Before the attack, Iran had already promised to defend Gaza, where families are walled into a destroyed cityscape, bombed, shot, and starved by Israeli forces with American support. This escalation has been seen as inevitable, with each country preparing in the months and years leading up to it. Continued escalation will likely be slow. Iranian forces seem intimidated by Israel's nuclear arsenal, resulting in this attack being so small, and they've said this matter can now “be deemed concluded.” Israeli leadership is also constrained by people who don't want to see the world burn. Neither side can afford to risk losing support, so they must carefully provoke each other to ensure each of their own populations are equally provoked.
Israel and the US may carefully plan a counterattack, or may pretend to seek peace with Iran while retaliating with more subtlety. Enemies of the US will usually play along with fake peace talks and similar nonsense because both sides are addicted to excessive fossil-fuel-based luxuries; therefore, leaders face extreme risk of punishment for their crimes when world populations understand the reality of being plunged into World War 3 by these rich leaders fighting over these luxuries, wasting these fossil fuels, which are needed for modern agriculture. This leaves foreign leaders without much they can say whenever they find themselves angry about any lies told by American leaders.
The boat is big. It was carrying 25 crew and thousands of tons of cargo through Iran's Strait of Hormuz when Iran's Navy boarded and seized it for a brief time yesterday. It's called the Aries, owned by Mediterranean Shipping Company, and flies the flag of Portugal, but is reported to have connections with Israel. The crew must have been betting it wouldn't be too big of a deal in this case, and indeed, the cargo ship was released after a few hours. It is now underway to India, where most of its crew are from. They have complained about the level of aggression and force directed at them by Iran's Navy in this incident.

If the USSR still existed, it probably would have taken this opportunity to champion its plan for a global cooperative of health authorities working to control diseases. Periods of masking and social distancing every year or two would be proposed by strong leaders who would see the opportunity to help humans live longer in general. In the real world, jellybean Putin allows the world to forget about such plans, as he goes along with the capitalist plan to use lab-made COVID-19 as a bioweapon against global populations.
Apparently, the flu isn't deadly enough for the world's most powerful people, because they want all living individuals to consume as much as possible, but they don't like how it will end, so they use death to limit overall consumption without limiting individual consumption for the living. This may be why they created COVID-19 in the first place, and why they continue funding research in the “gain of function” field worldwide.
This “gain of function” research takes pathogens and engineers them into more dangerous versions using specialized laboratories such as the ones at Wuhan Institute of Virology, where COVID-19 originated. People involved in this field, including those funding it, claim the goal is not to develop bioweapons; instead, they say the purpose is to be a step ahead of evolution, testing how viruses may evolve in the future, developing ways to control them. By supplying this information to the global cooperative of health authorities we don't have, we can defeat both natural and manmade diseases such as COVID, exactly like we haven't done. There seems to be widespread brain damage preventing people from caring. There are atmospheric pollutants like lead and microplastics, which you're eating, drinking, breathing every day - even this newspaper contains pollutants (don't eat it).
