Well, I'm very pleased that #MorganMcSweeney has finally gone. His position, from where he seemed to poison the well of politics, was result of a fluke in any case - people often wrongly assume apparent success is the result of skill rather than external factors. He was, as I understand it, largely responsible for Labour dropping anything approaching adequate #climate policies (the £28bn/year).
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/feb/08/labour-cuts-28bn-green-investment-pledge-by-half

So will (Baroness) Sue Gray be back instead? Someone with a few more principles, I'd hope.

#ukpol #ukpolitics

I've had 'How much CO₂ is in the atmosphere as a percentage?' twice in two days, first on the street (politely) and then online (followed by 'you fool').

I'm sad some people think it is a 'gotcha', so I made this.

0.043% (more importantly, 2 trillion tonnes) is actually... mind-blowing. A lot. Is there an argument from Drake's equation that any such civilisation may be sustainable and peaceful? Or if Interstellar travel is possible (unlikely) it may be colonial.

In any case, K2-18b seems to have a thick reducing atmosphere, uninhabitable even to fish if not cyanobacteria.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/K2-18b
