If a thief tells a lender they're me and produces my ssn, and the lender falls for it and gets ripped off, that should be the lender's problem, not mine.

Banks knows this and don't give AF. They tell us to "protect ourselves" from "identity theft," when the real issue is banks find it too profitable to do zero due diligence and instead rely on ssn's (which weren't created for that). Think of all the hoops banks jumped through before lending to our grandparents' generation—not cheap for banks.

Right? They keep telling us what we should want from technology (updated takes on the same old information they've been selling us for years) instead of working on what we actually want. Like a few years ago, some tech show was displaying a robot that could follow you around your house and remind you of appointments in your calendar and scan your face to make sure you're not an intruder. I'm like, "Clean my toilet or go straight to Hell, you worthless PalmPilot on wheels."

You could be right. But if his strategy is to mobilize his base — perhaps to get them to the polls, perhaps just to get them up in arms and ready for violence next Jan. 6 — this would be the way to do it.

He wanted to 1. grab headlines for fueling them-vs-us racial conflict, 2. excite his base by showing how brazenly racist he's willing to be (à la asking April Ryan if the Congressional Black Caucus were friends of hers—deliberately open racism), 3. make it look like PoC with any power or influence will use it to abuse white men, 4. portray journalists as fake.

He may have accomplished exactly what he intended.
