The example often given is, the atom bomb can only be created in a society that believes in its use. Another such society, constructed a different way, may not desire to make such a thing.

I believe it is only through capitalist means and ends that LLMs could ever be created in such a way that they do such extensive harm.

In a non-capitalist society, LLMs would have no value.

Many of the examples you've pointed to as what is claimed to be solarpunk, aren't necessarily what I would describe as solarpunk. and the ones that I agree with, are either co-opted away from their intended goal such as the chobani ad, or didn't do well financially. Strange World.

Although they exist as artefacts, they aren't mainstream or desired. If anything, utopias and fiction with no real villains aren't marketable, IMO 2/5

Judging from the articles I can see, there doesn't seem to be much that tell me about how the Venezuelan people are doing, whether better or worse. it's just focused on the leaders or on Maduro.

From what I understand, most Venezeulans don't care about oil being taken by the US. They know that's why they are there. It's said to be a worthwhile price to pay for Maduro being removed. It's not a lot to go on.

In part because one of them does not allow nudity and the other might be a server in the US. apologies. I'm certainly worried about the US and don't want data there. to be clear, I didn't need to go to space to look back at our blue marble to appreciate the importance and value of life and that we are one. I can easily have had and did have my overview effect with #ksp And all the shows like star trek that brought folks optimism and hope.

I'd like to believe that is all it takes. But it's also hard to look at NASA, while the US is in the midst of a coup. A fascist takeover. If I had wanted to come watch the space launch, I wouldn't be able to. Not in the country and not in the state. It just wouldn't be safe.

I'm happy to focus on the article because it is important to us all, and share it. But cross solidarity support means we fight on all fronts together. Fighting fascism, (including tech fascism) also means fighting AI.

I'd say if it's safe for you to do so to go to a protest for a cause you care about. There are useful skills you learn when you do... there's new community that may open up, and when things get really pressing the next time, you'll know what to do next time. You'll be prepared.

The experience would be useful from a solarpunk perspective, if it's safe enough for you to engage in. But again, no protest is safe.

We are 200 Riders. We left the beautiful city of Omelas. it was known for its grand architecture, and was beset by a growing addiction and darkness which took hold of all.

We decided we no longer want to be held hostage to this and took our loved ones and our mounts with us. Even though it felt like we had no choice. It was heart wrenching to leave.

We hope to find others like us and new land in which we can settle and build anew.
