My neighbor who is going autocrossing next month with me wants an X5. I've hired a crisis counselour to help me cope with the fact that she doesn't like the cars that I think are cool I was trying to think of cars that are somewhat similar but much better for a young driver.

I got a ticket to the Nutmeg (CT) miata club's autocross event a lime rock. it's the best deal in performance driving in the tri state area and it's once a year. This year I'm taking my college age neighbor as the driver. We're going to practice getting into second in a dead mall parking lot. she's a unusually good and defensive driver for a young person. She's also great at the racing sim pushing a little harder on each turn each time.

The meshtastic web flasher is pretty good but it's pay to play. they only support devices that pay to be a part of the meshtastic project. mesh forge lets you take any compatible firmware projects and puts it on any compatible device without using a terminal or having any technical knowledge.
Meeting the dev last night was amazing cause he has this project that's hard to explain and it really solves a problem I have. if I can upload the library with a gui a LOT more people can enjoy my project.

I would want stuff liek persistent emergancy messages. if someone drops off the mesh or has their node off you can send a DM to them automatically once they get back online and you get an Ack from the DM. also stuff where parents can store all the GPS movements of the people in their family and store it int he external flash.

The off grid nRF52 code has a library of thousadns of cities and their central coordinates. when someoen QSLs we give the location of asking node. For air QSL we can share what city they are over and stuff liek speed and altitude. We can actually detect people in planes from them advertising their node just from altitude and speed.

I have a Full version where you use a #python script to send the knowledge files on the the BBS to external flash. There is a Lite version that's just flash and dash. some NRF boards have less flash and can only run the lite version.
I also wanted to show the minimum hardware requirements for a fully functioning #meshtastic node #BBS. These are so low power you can retro fit a solar light into a solar powered node. the #ESP32 have way more capabilities but are power hogs

I was running the #BBS on #ESP32 and making a companion mobile BBS #firmware that ran on NRF. I realized I could actually fit 85% of the BBS functionality on the NRF52.

You can't write to the enormous 2MB of external flash from terminal. however you can connect to the node with BT or serial so I wrote some code that takes up less than 2kb that allows you to send the files to the node and have the node write it to external flash.

I want to give an update about my project #TinyBBS, a #Meshtastic #BBS that runs on the meshtastic firmware itself. It is now NRF52 based. The NRF is a lot more lightweight and energy efficient.
The BBS has Email, bulletins, daily wordle, a pretty rich LORD style multiplayer RPG, survival skills, QSLboard, and Airplane QSL Board. The BBS is about 70KB and I do a neat party trick to store knowledge files like a full 12k wordle dictionary on the external flash.

Been working on a project, a #meshtastic #BBS that runs directly on a #ESP32 node without needing a #rpi zero running the BBS. I have an alpha up and running and added a daily Wordle game. it has bulletins, Email, and a neat QSL feature for radio nerds.

#meshcore has a "room" firmware with basic bulletin posting. This Does a lot more than that, almost as much as the major python BBS systems that need a raspberry pie to run.

On reddit someone asked the same question about a porsche sports car over the 911. It seems like if you force everyone to pick something expensive they just want a carrera GT.
If you made a modern carrera GT you could make the same power with a V8 and maybe even twin turbo. I honestly think a sports car sloted above the 911 is pretty dumb. Not a fan of the 918 TBH. that's the only thing that would be cool, especially with a stick.

yes but there’s a lot of great things about a Chevy Tahoe. They can last 500k miles no problem. That engine with the DCT from the C8 and a lighter unibody construction is a winner.
I mostly drive manual cars that weigh under 3,000 pounds, but have had a long line of station wagons for touring. Everyone I’ve driven has been discontinued. I’m not a V8 guy but I could see myself abandoning lifted wagons and embracing a lowered sport SUV. My A4 allroad is an expensive habit.

a lot of interference comes from poor cable management. short USB cables help. having the streamer and the DAC next to each other so you can use a 1 foot cable is huge. not having power cables near that cable helps to. I route all the power cables on one side. For the most part if you have good cable management you don't need any fancy digital stuff but if you have the tech and can for free you might as well.

The real problem is usb audio streams are designed for low latency and do not have error correcting just detection. packet is bad it's just dropped. High end brands like chord have proprietary drivers that allow for a buffer and use error correcting. It's used for most USB transfers but there is no open USB standard for it. We need the companies to make a standard and then sell us all new dacs that support it.

A big thank you to the drivers of Long Island. Usually it’s the worst place to drive on a weekend but everything lined up and I had a pleasant drive in and out. Most of my drive was in HOV with someone behind me that didn’t want to go fast. In front of me was a giant line of cars behind someone going between 55-75. Everyone was going crazy trying to get out and I was in this private luxury bubble for an hour. I was hypermiling and got 34 mpg for the trip, insane numbers for nyc area.

I have been struggling with my weight for the past ten years. people are ashammed to say they are getting help, but the important thing is getting healthier so the risk of diabetes, hyper tension, etc go down.

sorry bro. if you haven';t had it now is a pretty good time to get it. the symptoms aren't as bad now on average.stay hydrated and be aware there is an early period where you think you are feeling better but two days later it hits you hard. So stay being hydrated, stay resting even if you have energy and feel better.

Seems nice 3250 pounds, simialr to a E46 but more modern and easy to add carplay to. 230 hp seems fine, just slightly slower than my miata is plenty fast. much lighter than the 2 series and still naturally aspirated

inspired by a recent thread I wanted to see how fast an E30 M3 would be with the modern #BMW B48 4 cylinder.

Wioth a 200 pound driver it woudl be under 4 seconds.

Assuming it woudl nbeed 300 mopre pounds for beefier trans, diff, and heavier engine it's still 4.2 seconds and still beunder 3,000 pounds total.

The modern M3 weighs 4,000 pounds and is 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.

I don't know about you but I would take the lighter 4 cylinder car.

the new prelude isn't trying to be like a golden age Honda. It doesn't need a handful of weird middle aged men who like 30 year old cars. they are selling these cars to people who buy new cars. We're probably not getting cars like that again.

Also the prelude not only doesn't have a CVT, it doesn't have a transmission with multiple gear ratios. it relies on the EV motor for local driving and the gas engine for highways.

I still think it will outsell the miata by a lot.
