Some of my film photography 🤍

I get to experience the surprise of analogue photography alongside my clients.

What interests me most is documenting beautiful lives as they’re being lived. The places people return to every summer, long lunches with friends, family traditions, celebrations, quiet moments, and the stories that deserve to be remembered.

My goal is to create photographs that feel timeless, preserving our generation and the way we lived, loved, gathered, and celebrated.

I was about to post that I’m just “raw dogging my way through Nostr.”

Then I stopped myself.

For the past 4 years, I’ve been a content creator on Instagram and TikTok as a side hustle, collaborating with luxury brands and creating content professionally.

And before posting, my brain immediately did what years of traditional social media trained it to do:

“That’s not on brand.”

It wasn’t that I didn’t want to say it. It’s that I had been conditioned to think about how it would be perceived before thinking about whether it was true.

One thing people don’t realize about being a creator is that after a while you’re no longer just creating content. You’re constantly responding to an algorithm.

You learn what performs.
You learn what doesn’t.
You learn what version of yourself gets rewarded.

And eventually, if you’re not careful, you start “optimizing” more than your content. You start “optimizing” yourself.

The funny thing is that I was successful enough to know exactly what would make me more successful.

I knew what kind of content I had to make.
I knew how much more time I had to dedicate to it.
I knew I’d have to play the game better.

But I also understood the cost.

Theres a trade off . From the outside, people see the success. What they don’t see is how much of your life can end up revolving around feeding the machine.

Every experience becomes content.
Every thought becomes content.
Every trip becomes content.

And that’s not because creators are doing anything wrong. It’s because that’s exactly what the platforms incentivize.

Algorithms don’t just shape what we see.

They shape who we become.

That’s why I always chose to stay moderately successful instead of pursuing every opportunity to grow faster. I cared too much about my relationships, my friends, my mental health, my creativity, and having a life that existed outside of a screen.

Two days ago, I decided to step away from most traditional social media.

I still don’t fully understand Nostr, but I’m starting to realize that what interests me isn’t just the technology.

It’s the possibility of expressing a thought without first wondering whether a machine will reward it.

Most conversations around decentralization focus on protocols, ownership, and censorship resistance.

But I think there is another form of decentralization that matters just as much:

Decentralizing the pressure to become someone you’re not.

And maybe that’s why this feels so freeing.

Not because there are no incentives here. Every community has incentives.

But because, for the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m talking to people instead of performing for an algorithm.

And I think that’s a much bigger cultural shift than most people realize.

Wow! Thank you very much for the mention, Pierre :) I must agree with you! That was precisely my intention when I joined.

Just after a few hours on the network, I have found the response very, very interesting. Knowing nothing about the culture of the app, I can already tell that negativity is a bit of a “thing” here. In some cases, it almost feels like people take pride in it.

That said, I think it’s also a reflection of society as a whole. Alongside the negativity, there are also genuinely kind, supportive people like you who can see the bigger picture and appreciate things that others might dismiss as unimportant.

As someone who’s still discovering this space, it’s encouraging to see that both sides exist. The supportive interactions I’ve had so far make me excited to stick around and contribute in my own way.

I’m Cami, 27, from Costa Rica 🇨🇷

I discovered Bitcoin in 2021, but what fascinated me wasn’t just the technology. It was what it represented freedom, ownership, and the ability to learn something entirely outside the traditional path. I can tell you more about my path if anyone is interested.

By day, I work in communications, branding, and content creation. I love fashion, design, travel, good food, and building communities. I’m probably not what most people picture when they think of “Bitcoin Twitter” and that’s exactly why I wanted to be here.

I believe Bitcoin should be for everyone, not just people who fit a certain mold. My goal is to learn, share my perspective, and hopefully help create more spaces where people who feel “different” from the typical Bitcoin crowd realize this world can belong to them too.
