All WiFi kit must be certified, and certification conditions mean that the complete system - radio, firmware, software, PCB, AND ANTENNAS - are certified together. That’s why WiFi radios in the USA aren’t allowed to have customizable firmware, or are allowed to be changed to other country frequency domains. It’s also why removeable antennas must be RP-SMA - it’s a proprietary connector, so only the correct proprietary antenna will be able to be connected (lolno)
