What makes someone rape a child or an old woman, or kill 1 baby or a million citizens, is something that needs to be understood. There is no predisposition to any behavior. I dare you do find that. It is the environment that makes people behave the way they do. So we need to look at that and change that.

If you execute these bad people, the same conditions will create more of them. It's like you try to prevent climate change by blowing up oil refineries to stop people from burning fossil fuel. But you don't understand that the Trade Society we live in, with its institutions and rich people who control our resources, will be incentivized to drill more for oil because it is profitable.

If you don't know what is the cause of a problem, you cannot find a solution for is.

People who hurt other people are terrible people, but also we must look at what makes them do that. In order to prevent. Like with pedophiles - instead of being tough with them, imprison them, kill them, etc., is better to understand why they feel the way they do and prevent harm. Of course those who offend need to be "put away" but in a rehabilitation institution. Same with criminals, killers, etc..

I fear even saying this would trigger many, but there is no better way. If you keep on killing the bad people, you have no clue what made them like that and so others will become the same.

We humans have borders that divide us into tribes. The rules of the division are not always clear. Language? But USA and Australia speak the same language…

In that sense cultures are not only limited by borders and tribes, but they can form around a topic of interest such as gaming, movies, even celebrities.

We have received a Copyright claim from Amazon for our @[url=https://framapiaf.org/users/peertube]PeerTube[/url] instance https://videos.trom.tf/ . Hetzner, the hosting company where we have the dedicated server at, gave us 24h to resolve it.

[b]The problem?[/b]

The video in question, a documentary about "aliens", a garbage piece of content, was NOT hosted on our instance, of course. But since Peertube is federated the idiots sent the claim to our hosting company. Even if UNDER the video you can see that video is "Posted By:" and the instance and username. It takes a few seconds to see where the video is hosted.

But who cares...maybe Amazon has "AI Agents" employed and they simply find a video of theirs on a URL and see the IP of that URL and submit a Copyright claim to the hosting where that domain is registered?!

Bunch of idiots.

But it is very concerning the fact that they can do these and we, the ones who hosts (and for free for that matter), need to quickly "fix" these things even if the claim has nothing to do with our server.

We eventually had to block that URL, thanks Peertube for allowing that, else these idiots cannot understand that it was not us who were hosting that video.

For the past few days we managed to trigger the auto-transcription for thousands of our peertube videos https://videos.trom.tf - All of our TROMcasts, our TROM documentary snippets, all of our videos indeed and all of the VideoNeat trailers now have an English caption. While it is not perfect, it is impressively accurate considering that it is automated. @[url=https://framapiaf.org/users/peertube]PeerTube[/url] is a real alternative to Youtube, in all regards.

Youtube is doing its best and most aggressive lately to protect their ad platform. Third party services that allow you to watch youtube videos without ads or being tracked are suffering. Invidious, Newpipe, Freetube and the like.

Now Peertube is being affected and users cannot synchronize their youtube account with their peertube one. Basically a peertube instance has an IP, and google sees that this IP is trying to grab videos from their ad platform. So they blacklist the IP. Unfortunately we can't do much.

Nothing will change until we are brave enough to move to peertube entirely or similar platforms.

Therefore our https://videos.trom.tf/ is currently unable to import videos from youtube. And we may not be able to fix this.
