Every time he comes up with an idea for something like this, it's only retroactive, making it too late for anyone to factor the availability of this "free money" into the decision of what type of degree to pursue, and where.

People who made the decision not to go to college, or to pursue an inexpensive college degree, because they thought going into debt was unwise, will receive nothing.

It's the exact wrong way to do it. If we want to help more people with college, make it fair by doing it for the generation ahead, who can still make the choice.

This makes sense. I’m sure it’s not fun to go on a general forum and promote a lifestyle that is only fun when experienced in practice.

My view is that ideological diversity can bring a lot to a discussion forum if people are interested in getting different takes on the same situation – and if, as rarely happens, people are polite and able to share their differing views without going into a headache-inducing, time-wasting quarrel in which no one can ever agree to disagree.

The central theme of Spinster (besides cats and chit chat, both of which I enjoy) seems to be figuring out how transgenderism made it this far and how we can get it out of our institutions. I think it’s an ideal topic for ideologically diverse discussion, because it’s possible that different groups have a different piece of the answer. I have gotten a lot out of socialists, conservatives, and radical feminists each giving their perspective on how this all happened, and it’s made me want to take the same approach to other topics.

That’s why I like it here. It’s also, because – believe it or not, considering that I’m on Spinster almost every day – I’m actually trying to spend less time online and I find that Spinster’s small size makes it manageable for me.

I think sealioning is more like when my forever-loyal Democrat friend asked for information about why I oppose “trans,” but when I sent him a long email lots of links, he never wrote back. I heard from him some time later on a different matter.

That “Hillary” conversation was way too long and contentious for me. I know what I think of her, but don’t enjoy long, angry conversations, especially online. I did think all the women in the conversation were sincere, but the lengthiness and level of vitriol were too much for my tastes.

Something I would like all the very intelligent women of Spinster to understand is that most people really don’t know as much as they do on their select issues. We all seem to have in common certain things such as opposition to gender identity, surrogacy, and prostitution, but I find that often, one person will know a lot about a topic such as Israel, vaccines, or the crimes of a particular political family, and be very upset that others don’t. I just want to point out that that’s actually normal. I probably come across as a big dummy, perhaps in your case on a subject such as the CIA, and I do dip in and try to learn a little, but I will never know as much as someone who holds it as a central interest. I hope you and other especially smart Spinsters, understand that most people are as dumb as I am or even dumber. Not understanding that is going to lead to a lot of frustration and missed opportunities to gently enlighten in a variety of online and offline situations.

OMG, if you want to get angry, get a load of the pro-trans YouTubers (two men, one of whom is a “feminist”) Peter and Colin are critiquing in the first 15 minutes of this.

Peter and Colin are being Peter and Colin. I like them. Peter is doing his, “Help me understand this craziness” thing and Colin is giving good, rational answers. I don’t know if I’ll finish this because I know all this stuff and the fact that we are still having to deal with it, a good two years after I thought we hit peak craziness, is making me angry. I just can’t believe that people believe it.

Wow, I believed that picture (about the Dad being arrested for throwing a party) before I read the article! I guess it could be worse, if something like that is so far from the truth that Jordanians easily see it as satire. The cybercrime bill does sound bad though – and almost identical to what American politicians are trying to do.
