hostile behavior di Mastodon memang nyata, dan sorry curhat curhat dikit. Pertama kali saya pakai Mastodon itu tahun lalu pas nyoba-nyoba karena penasaran aja. Saat itu saya masih pakai Bluesky sebagai pelarian dari Threads.
Dan ya memang saya sempat di-bully juga oleh netizen di Mastodon karena saya sering nyaranin dan posting soal Office 365 beserta fitur Copilot di Windows yang waktu itu saya suka.
Memang benar it's so unwelcome, it's frickin hostile, tapi beberapa saat kemudian setelah intropeksi dan mikir-mikir, ya saya memang bisa mengerti mengapa netizen Mastodon bisa so hostile. It's not about their behavior. Rather, it's about what is driving this behavior.
Jadi ya... saya akhirnya migrasi sepenuhnya ke Mastodon dari Bluesky, dan saya fine-fine saja. I know people can be very mean, but I keep thinking: "what's the driving factor? why so hostile?" dan pada akhirnya saya maklumi saja.

I once use Clearsky because I was interested with who are the people blocking my Bluesky profile.
But it turned out I got curious and looked (I know I was wrong, ok?) at my friends profile to see who they are blocking and who they were blocked.
Being able to see a publicly available list of people blocking each other is not a good idea, at least to me.

I can't believe my online persona have changed very much. Two years ago, I started my Bluesky profile (I didn't know Mastodon yet during that time) as a regular music fan who post cassette tapes, Indonesian independent record labels, updates on niche and small artists, record stores in my area. Bluesky is very good in this field. Lots of artists are there and music feeds are endless. I am still a music fan to this day, although music is no longer my priority on my online social profiles.
However, I noticed that Bluesky users aren't that much interested in tech posts. As I start to get introduced to Mastodon, I was confused at first. Mastodon felt archaic to my understanding at that time. Why follower list of a profile is empty? Why the follower count is empty? At some point I start to recognize Mastodon, a truly decentralized networking.
After my migration to Mastodon, I felt the dilemma coming back to Bluesky for music stuff. I did that some time ago. The reason is because Mastodon is not an ideal platform to find more artists. Lots of bands and musicians still prefer Bluesky and they don't seem to be interested to use Mastodon. Since I am still an avid music fan (although I don't show it here as much as I was years ago on Bluesky), I still yearn to see updates on my favorite artists. I tried to persuade some of them to use Mastodon, but they just lack the interest.
I have boycotted Meta platforms. I deleted my WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Thread. I have boycotted Microsoft by deleting my Microsoft account and switched my computer operating system into Linux. I cannot boycott Google yet, as this one is tricky and some say it is impossible. I also, unfortunately, cannot boycott Bluesky yet as I still need to see updates on my favorite artists.

What really matters, if you're on a laptop, is battery life. The result of @npub1mvj…r582 research shows that Wayland is better at maintaining longer batter life compared to X11 session.
That is why Wayland-ready DEs such as GNOME and KDE have longer battery life compared to DEs still on X11. However, it is impressive that XFCE desktop, despite it is on X11 by default, able to maintain very long battery life comparable to GNOME and KDE on Wayland.
