Well - even young boomers like me will have to downsize and will have a LOT of books, albums, CDs, and other items to get rid of.

I helped clean out the 1BR home for my mom - took two trailers full of trash to the dump, the family got all the nice things, and other stuff went to the nearby resale store or to Goodwill. I could have had a nice Queen sized wrought iron bed frame but not sure how I could have gotten it home.

It is okay now. Both Vail and Beaver Creek had big areas closed until maybe 4 weeks ago. Much later than normal. Last week at Vail had the road below Orient Express with warning signs but much better than that video.

Like sitting in the airplane during boarding and one falls out and lands on the floor where I can't see it. The person behind me found it a few minutes later & handed it back to me. Yeah - even smaller funds like Fundrise have limits on withdrawals. IIRC, Fundrise lets you withdraw every 90 days with a nominal 5% limit.

I believe that is customary because the assets invested by the fund are not quickly or easily liquidated unless you want to lose a lot of $$.

Snow is plenty deep on the open areas. At Beaver Creek, they opened Grouse Mountain and McCoy Park a couple of weeks ago.

The last three weeks have been good for fresh snow. A series of storms every 3-4 days with 4" to 12" (heavier in some spots). On Grouse Mountain I had relatively small moguls with fresh snow on top. A bit crunchy underneath but still okay for an old guy like me.

Yeah - just over the hill in the Elkhorn picture is a road with a few ski-in, ski-out homes. No joy for them this year though one home had a snowboard & pair of skis hanging on a rack. Easily seen from the chairlift. Odd.

Congress should nuke the USG regulations for wetlands and other environmental issues if they want to "fix" housing. Plus withhold USG $$ to states and cities that wish to maintain them.

When I left Texas they were still selling (not building) new homes for under $100 a square foot (like $300K for a 3000 sqft home south of Dallas TX).

I'm reading a book about how zoning and environmental regulations have made home building unaffordable. Like 10-20 years just to get approval for a new housing development. Or putting a guy in jail for leveling his lot because he didn't have proper wetlands permits.

This is a bit interesting - Pratt & Whitney had a couple Boeing 747 aircraft built with a mount for a fifth engine for flight testing.

It reminds me of a WWII B-17 bomber that had a motor mounted in the nose for flight tests. Powerful enough to turn off the other four engines in flight. I was told it was also powerful enough that it almost tore the nose off by the end of testing.

Yeah - that reminds me of an audio tape I checked out of the library about sales. I forget the author but the gist of his message was to do something like this
- put everyone on commission
- give the top 20% (or so) the best of everything
- give the middle 50% (or so) reasonable resources
- the bottom 30% will leave when they don't make enough to live on.
repeat.

That works for technical jobs as well - okay maybe not the commission part but the idea is the same.
