Hi everyone! Here’s your semi-regular Bridgy Fed status update. We’ve been busy [since last time](https://snarfed.org/2026-03-03_56661 )!

Our main focus over the last couple months has been cost cutting. We have an entire blog post on this coming up, but suffice it to say that we’ve had to work hard to keep costs under control while growing users and adding lots of new functionality.

Our two biggest projects on that front were [migrating our datastore to a cheaper configuration](https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/2168 ), which cut datastore costs by half, and [optimizing ATProto getRepo calls](https://github.com/snarfed/arroba/issues/88 ), which sped them up over 20x and brought down our frontend instance count ~3x.

We also shipped some great new features:

<li><a href="https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/2452">Bridged web sites now show <code>[Unofficial]</code> in their display names</a> to reduce confusion. Web site owners can remove this by <a href="https://fed.brid.gy/docs#web-enhanced">verifying their sites</a>.</li>

Hi everyone! Here’s your semi-regular Bridgy Fed status update. We’ve been busy [since last time](https://snarfed.org/2026-01-04_56304 )!

The two big new features we launched were [domain blocklists](https://blog.anew.social/launch-domain-blocklists/ ) ([GitHub](https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/2194 )) and [responding to unbridged users](https://blog.anew.social/launch-interact-with-unbridged-replies-mentions/ ) ([GitHub](https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/2042 )). We’ve seen good feedback and usage on both, especially responding to unbridged users. Please keep the feedback coming!

We also significantly improved bridging speed, especially to Bluesky. For a couple months, it slowed down to an average delay of 3-5 minutes, with outliers that took so long that we occasionally dropped them entirely. Not good. [We worked hard to optimize](https://github.com/snarfed/arroba/issues/74 ) and managed to cut that average delay down to just 5-10 seconds, which feels way better.

Hi all! We never got into the habit of posting here regularly, but we’re going to start now. We have things to tell you! Bridgy Fed updates, new projects, other news. We don’t plan to post often, maybe once a week or so at most, but feel free to unfollow if you want, your account will keep bridging.
