Also if you're a non-profit various platforms offer discounts (not free, but still).

I have #KDE Connect installed, which links your phone and Linux PC for controlling media, etc.

I also have a Firefox addon that gives KDE Connect more info about my browser activities.

But what I just realized this morning is pretty freaking cool:
When you're watching a video in Firefox, you can pause/resume it from the KDE Connect app. Plus, clicking the notification opens the same YouTube video on your phone... cool!

I'm probably "that guy" but whenever i see something is chromium based, I suddenly don't care anymore.
I don't want to contribute to chrome's monopoly on browser engines. So currently all i'm looking at is Firefox, Zen (firefox based) and maybe Orion (webkit based which i'm also not a fan of tbf, but it's made by the people from Kagi HQ (npub1zq5…dlp2) and they do seem to be cooking some good stuff with it. so keeping an eye on it)

Still hoping this gets addressed/reverted: ...

Here's some changes It'd suggest:
- Add Organic Maps (npub1t2q…n4vh) to the gmaps alternatives. it's by far the easiest osm based maps app
- Add Ente (npub1c4m…wtqs) auth for google auth alternatives. it's much more feature rich and it's foss
- add Kagi HQ (npub1zq5…dlp2) to the search engines. They're privacy respecting * one small note is that they do utilize google as one of it's search indexes that it uses, so you'd still be giving google some money technically (had to mention it)

devils advocate: They know their code isn't good enough to be included in the kernel itself, so they want to rewrite before that happens. this license allows them to prevent from someone else putting the code in and then going "wow, this toxedo code sucks" and then tuxedo having to go "well yeah, it wasn't ready for kernel merging yet"
